i'm pretty sure that mod with flint tools removes the usual recipes for pickaxes and you entirely subverted it by adding diagonal crafting. bravo, nebby.

So basically if you watch the video a lot of the recipes are crafted (or can be crafted) diagonally, so because the way you make a furnace (8 cobble in a square) if you turn the crafting table so it's a diamond instead of a square the crafting recipe would be the same but also diagonal, therefor his joke being that it's actually be crafting diagonally like all the other tools and stuff just that you can't tell because of the way you craft a furnace (being just 8 squares in a circle)

The animals in the desert, in the start were actually one of the options on one of the mob votes. And the desert itself with palm trees was also itself on one of the biome votes🐗
@@archimetropolis not necessarily, you could just- rotate the tools slightly in your hand and it would be the recipe, both for diagonal and vertical. Not quite 2.5 isometric view like how the inventory renders most blocks because tools are items which almost always render in 2D only.
The text disappearing when he hovered over the modded shields was really funny because there's absolutely NO REASON for it to do that, the text box didn't even disappear with it.
It's a bug with the "Advancement Plaques" mod, when the advancement at the top fades away, it makes text on hovered over items fade too for some reason until you reopen the menu it was in or just comes back after a few seconds.

I'm using an origin that is too weak to wear iron and is normally restricted to lower tiers of armor, but copper armor happens to be the right values to be allowed. So copper gear actually came in really clutch.

"I added to many nature mods (biomes, mobs, ores etc.)" would be another banger to see, though not as much as my recommendation from the other day. The only reason why I wouldn't play it is because I likely wouldn't enjoy it, so I leave it up to other people to suffer through it.
The reason certain wood recipes didn't work is likely because of an issue with Quark on certain versions. I've encountered it in many packs, the easiest workaround is "Actually Unified" or "I Love Wood"
This reminds me of my own attempt of making a vanilla+ modpack for Minecraft, which took me from weeks to even months because I was adamant about not just handpicking every single mod (based on interests but also self-imposed rules, such as no new natural blocks or dimensions), but also always making sure they all reliably ran together, without any stability or balancing issues. Said jury-rigged modpack still numbered up to 300-ish mods, and it got me burned out once I realized I couldn't make a server with it so I can plays together with some friends. Still wanna get back to it and try again sometime soon.
I mean, I feel like Vintage Story is basically just trying to emulate a specific style of modded minecraft, especially since some of these mods have been around for quite a while, not that there's anything wrong with that.
I love all the new updates but the term "Vanilla+" was popularized, during a different era. When updates where much smaller and much less ambitious. When Mojang wasn't redefining what Vanilla could be every new update. Vanilla+ lost almost all meaning after 1.16, and even more so as they've added on to the updates since then. I can say things like dwellers and infections mods aren't Vanilla+, but with the addition of the crafter. I think there's an argument for including Create in modpacks going forward.

If there’s anything I learned, it’s the amount of work that goes into making mod packs compatible with one another to have a cohesive experience, one of the big things being recipes for items
13:33 Singleplayer worlds are actually servers, using the computer as the host. I learned this from the "Essential Mod" which literally lets you invite friends (I am pretty sure from anywhere in the world) to play in your singleplayer world with you. so that is why you are getting "Server Lag" because it is, technically, a server. just a temporary, private one that is being hosted on your PC
@@kerkywastaken Like I mentioned, a single player world is technically a server, it's being hosted on your computer, so you don't need an internet connection for it. but it does cause potential for delay when certain mods are used. I've only ever had that issue on modded playthroughs. I don't know what causes it but it happens. And there's an explanation for it.

Adding an entirely new dimension with new mobs and mechanics that completely invalidate base game mechanics? As long as you have enough favorites on CurseForge, it, too, can be Vanilla+!
Honestly this kinda feels like the last concept that can be done? Most other mods actively require you to go after them (see tech, magic, dimension) and probably don’t work well for these styles of video. Tbh I’d love to see more traditional modded content from you tho

For the record, there's a mod allows you to choose which recipe to use whenever there's A recipe conflict. I think it works on furnaces too, so you can therefore choose what to turn your rotten flesh into.
I think all things considered I would still call this ostensibly vanilla plus. It doesn’t change the path of progression, it doesn’t change how you interact with the game, it doesn’t allow you to cut out portions of the gameplay loop or add new mechanics. Theres a lot of new individual things but otherwise it’s just like a lot of normal updates
I think the reason the tools were diagonal because they were just alternative recipes, but a different mod, the one that added flint tools removed he recipe, so if you didn't have the flint tools mod (Natural progression) then both would work. Basically, you were never supposed to be able to make wooden or stone tools.

ironically the stronghold invisible wall gimmick is a proper vanilla mechanic. genuinely no clue why that exists

For the record, there's a mod allows you to choose which recipe to use whenever there's A recipe conflict. I think it works on furnaces too, so you can therefore choose what to turn your rotten flesh into.

I think all things considered I would still call this ostensibly vanilla plus.
It doesn’t change the path of progression, it doesn’t change how you interact with the game, it doesn’t allow you to cut out portions of the gameplay loop or add new mechanics. Theres a lot of new individual things but otherwise it’s just like a lot of normal updates

I think the reason the tools were diagonal because they were just alternative recipes, but a different mod, the one that added flint tools removed he recipe, so if you didn't have the flint tools mod (Natural progression) then both would work.
Basically, you were never supposed to be able to make wooden or stone tools.
