April Kepner has to be one of the most strong yet underrated characters in the show. Her best friend was shot. She lost a child. She left the love of her life. She watched him fall in love again. She fell apart, and she put herself back together. She was one of the most deeply written characters in the show. She will be dearly missed.

If you left the show because a character left then I’m not sure if I can deal with you. They don’t just choose to make her leave, her contract was over so they had to make her leave some how they can’t just have her disappear for no reason. She loves Matthew and they are a good match. But I loved her with Jackson. They really had great chemistry. She brought out the best in him.

Honestly, I felt like they didn’t pay enough attention to the trauma April went through after losing her best friend Reed. I mean I know reed was not a main character but April seeing her best friend dead and being covered in her blood would have caused so much trauma than they showed
Japril was one of the best couples on this show ever, and they should have ended up together. The new writer who decided to write April off and make Jackson and Maggie a thing ruined the show.

Emilly you can blame the writers especially Krista Vernoff for treating the character like shit. Like you I didn’t like April at first but then her character started to grow and just as it seemed that April was going through these positive changes , the writers pulled her back into theses situations that made her co-workers hate her, even her best friend did and her ex accusing her of being an opportunist and stealing Merediths job! WTF! I miss April but , GA (writers) felt it was time for April to go (along with Arizona) and move into a more creative direction. Really?

She didn't marry Matthew and I understand that she had to find her religion again but she didn't have to keep hurting Jackson in the process he deserves better and her keep blaming him for a choice that she made but at the end of the day Jackson will always have her heart but honestly they both can never fully be together until she gets over that.

I forgot to add that April belongs with Jackson . They were so real with their acting you felt their love was real . Maggie and Jackson is boring and dragging on. And Matthew and April is probably the same . That was such a huge mistake to end her character and take her off the show . I don’t find myself waiting for the next show like I did when April was on .

If they were able to keep Bailey and Ben together even when he started another career as a firefighter (and on another Shondaland show!) why could they not have kept Jackson and April together even when she decided to start going on medical missions instead of staying a surgeon at Grey Sloan? I mean, if they could get Riggs back together with Megan after 10 years just like that, the writers could have just decided that April and Jackson could also forgive each other and grow from all that and get back together. Although I am happy that April found happiness, I think sticking her with her ex is a cheap shot at giving her a happy ending. She should have ended back with Jackson.

She was my fav character. She was everything in this show. I will miss her so much. And Japril was meant to be. I cant believe that she married Matthew. She left him. Now I'm over with this amazing tv Show. And by the way this edit is amazing. I cried the whole time...
Her acting during the c section scene was top notch❤️ I love April. She was really relatable to me and her development from like a side character to this strong woman through everything she went through was amazing.

April's story reminds me so much of myself. She was so innocent, even to the point that she was mocked for it, yet life threw her around and forced her to grow in ways she never imagined. She had to face such immense challenges and became such a different person as a result. One who was darker than before, yet also wiser and smarter. I really related to her. Her character grew in so many ways. I miss her so much and hope they bring her back.
Jackson and April running out of her wedding is one of the prettiest scenes on television ever. She was a beautiful bride.

We just had the episode with the dying Rabbi here yesterday (in Belgium.), very strong and emotional .. always liked her on the show. April Kepner was a great character. I will mis her.

Kaitlin Lewis yea april was an important character and everyone will miss her but, I still think grey's is worth watching. (Unless anyone else dies).
Can we just take a moment to really appreciate this character? I mean she's maybe the best character of the show, the one that can teach you the most about how life is complicated and hard and how you can always get through anything with the help of the people that love you the most, she's one of best written characters that I've ever seen on a screen and the actress (Sarah drew) is just AMAZING.

Did you feel like April's whole arc was that she shouldn't believe God is punishing her for making mistakes... But every time she did something off color, she was punished.

Snuck around with Matthew -- almost died
What is the message here??
DirtyPrancing I don’t think the message was that God isn’t punishing her. I think the message is throughout all of these pain and suffering, God is always with her and he always has a plan. Everyone is human and everyone makes mistakes and it wasn’t supposed to come across as every mistake equaled a punishment. Everyone experiences pain, April more than most, but you have to remember the good things that came out of her pain. Her beautiful daughter Harriet, a career in trauma that she loves, a career in helping the needy, getting to fall in love twice, and getting to know Ruby a little bit more. So, I don’t think the message is that god isn’t punishing her for her mistakes, but that “something good can come out of so much pain.”

Such a disservice. I find it sad that other characters could be introduced like Maggie and Amelia, and form a bond with Meredith and Alex. They became a sort of clique. But they never included April in that. They never wanted to get close with her or even be her friend it seems. I think the saddest thing has to be that she was actually bullied. It would have showed that nice people can be bullies. A bully doesn't have to be a mean person, just a bully.
Her character was beautifully written. I am still mad that they fcked her story by getting her fired, had a terrible pregnancy, tested her faith several times, failed her boards, bullied and belittled. She evolved the most amongst all of them

Second of all: April is my favorite character, she has such an incredible and pure heart that I can’t even put into words how much I’m gonna miss her. The struggles that she had to face it during her journey, made her the incredible and powerful woman, doctor and mother and I couldn’t be more proud of the person that she became. I hope she found happiness for all her life, she deserves it more than anyone.

I was one of the few people who actually really liked April in the start, but I also love Reed so I guess I don't have very good taste.
April is probably only second to Meredith in terms of tragedy in her life, in my opinion.
When she comes to Seattle Grace - Mercy West, she's immediately met with hostility from Lexie.
She makes a tiny mistake that results in a woman dying, and she ends up fired.
She was just going into the supply closet when she tripped over the corpse of her best friend of several years. She then faces the man who shot the only person she called her friend, right after seeing her boss shot in front of her.
Just in Season 6 and 7 alone, April Kepner goes through so much. This isn't even mentioning her crisis of faith, the loss of her child, the divorce, her almost-death, etc.
April was one of the most complex characters on the entire show. I truly loved seeing her on screen, and I don't think that Grey's can be the same without her.
Love this TV drama. Please get Jackson and April back together again. Thank you.

okay i’m gonna rant
honestly, grey’s is just getting dumber and dumber. letting go of a character that had so much character development? that’s honestly just so disappointing. april became stronger and stood up for herself, she’s so underrated as a character, and her character development was one of the best. same thing happened with alex karev. his character development was just incredible, yet his departure was letters. HE WROTE LETTERS. WHAT THE HECK GREY’S. burke’s departure was stupid too. he was literally a cardio god. he was so successful at seattle grace, yet he literally left the state because he didn’t marry cristina. however, this was a bit forgivable, because of the reason he left: he knew that if he stayed, cristina would never be able to put herself back together. that shows just how much burke loved cristina. cristina’s departure was sad but it made sense. she was going to pursue her career at great heights, which is what cristina yang had always wanted to do. george o’malley-hit by a bus and just dies. what the heck. o’malley did not deserve that at all. but he saved a life, and was about to join the army, which shows major character development, so i guess it was okay.

jackson stood up in the middle of april’s wedding and basically broke up with edwards and confessed his love for april. april, THE BRIDE, left in the middle of literally getting married, and ran away with jackson, leaving behind a heartbroken ex-groom and ex-girlfriend, with everyone just watching. literally one of the most stupid scenes of all time, but at least it meant april got to be with jackson.
April as a character bloomed really beautifully, Her character development is so good. It's really beautiful.

April started of as a girl who was always happy and she just annoyed me in some way no other characters did, I slowly started to like her and by the point she lost her baby with Jackson I had fell in love with her! She was always in my top 5 favourite characters (jo, Alex, Mer, Jackson and April) they change alot but my favourite always die or leave. Anyway April is one of the strongest people I’ve seen! She’s made me understand that if I want to become a surgeon to believe in myself and stay strong. She lost her best friend, her husband, she watched her ex-fiancé fall in love again, she lost her baby but she stayed strong. She’s such a big inspiration in my life and I aim to be like April Kepner! I’m definitely gonna miss her... thank you Sarah drew for the best 9 years of my life where you stayed strong and loving! I know a lot of people don't like how April went out, but I feel like she grew so much as a person and learned so much through those years, her end was peaceful. Everything came full circle. It wasn't dramatic, but life never is. It was such a beautiful human ending.
