I'm so impressed that Samsung got Dirty Loops to do their "theme" in 2016? For a fun comparison-and an artist you haven't reacted to yet- *Jacob Collier did the 2017 version of "Over the Horizon".* It's a fun, pretty mind bending video. Thanks!
Fean-freaking-tastic. I normally have a lot to say on these videos, but DL have been kinda leaving me speechless. The fact that they're not world-renowned musicians is criminal. But at the same time, I'm happy to keep these guys our little secret. I love showing them to people who have never heard them before. Always a delight. Great video as always 😉
You have to remember they did all that complex arrangement and groove based off of just six notes/syllables -- the Samsung theme "Over the Horizon." Breathtaking.
Steve, thank you for continuing to bring us your perspective on great music by Dirty Loops. Your ability to express your musical insight into certain nuances of the individual performances bring new understanding and enjoyment of these songs that I listen to over and over again. Like others have commented below, I too enjoy watching Jacob Collier's 2017 rendition of this song, not for comparison purposes, but more to see the different ways very tallented musicians can approach a common theme. Keep them coming!
“As per f#@*ing usual, enjoyed that a lot” 🤣 Great reaction, Steve, -and that one funny shot of Jonah you chose….;) I’ve listened to this now for so many times that I love everything in this clip, including all of Jonah’s jazzy key riffs, but guess that, in the beginning, it struck me too as a bit lengthy… and if I’m right, Samsung presents a shortened version on their ringtone compilation list. (Btw, Jacob Collier’s version was chosen for the next year, 2017, and I think, is worth checking out as well.) Loved your reaction and commentary, as always, and would look forward to your reactions to Aron and Henrik’s “Bitten by the Kitten” and Pink Power”, as well as some of Dirty Loops’ earlier covers and tracks from their ‘Loopified’ LP. Thanks 🙏
Lol! I love your reactions, so my slightly differing opinion on one point is said here with the utmost respect, truly. Even if someone thinks that it's a bit much, be it keys or otherwise, who among us would ever actually say to any of these guys, "It sounds fantastic, but let's try it again with just a tad 'less' on that section. Just reign it in a touch, on the next go, fellas!" (To parody the famous SNL skit, "less cowbell." 😂) Obviously I don't know them, but their musicianship & discipline to their craft is such, that I'd guess some of the versions they release are already the "restrained" version. If given the choice, I'm pretty sure I'd prefer the ones with all the "extra." Much appreciation to you, Steve, for your Dirty Loops reactions. I look forward to each one of them.
Great reaction and song. Can’t wait for the one. I feel like you missed out on some of their old stuff and you can’t get off the dirty loop train without checking out a few of them. “Ta fête” for the base sound! “Forever young” because it’s an amazing take on a classic song and you can’t miss out their version of Adele’s “Rolling in the deep”! Keep it up. Looking forward for the next one👍
Something new for your ear, assuming you haven't heard them before. MEUTE is an unusual brass band where every horn is also part of the rhytm section. Layer upon layer of instruments and notes and every note or sound you hear, is played by the instruments you see. Nothing added in postproduction. It's quite mesmerizing and intriguing. In short, it's a new rabbithole for you to get lost in and you won't regret it. Promise. Begin with the piece 'Slip', 'Slow Loris' or 'Endling'. Their own hashtag sums it up pretty good #technomarchingband
I "put up with" the off chord jazz piano runs for the benefit of the whole. It's kind of a mediocre side dish in a great entree IMO. I still respect the musicianship to create that sound because I've seen it enough with DL that I feel like it's part of their M.O. So I agree with your line of thinking on this. *rereading that ^^^^ now, it sounds way worse than I wanted it to...lol. Let it ride. Gotta say, I'd never heard this one before. Thx for doing it Sir!
@@SteveOGRock You should do the songs in the right order. First Jonah did solo ”Coffee break” so Aron and Henrik did Songs for lovers, like ”Old Armando had a farm” and ”Bitten by the kitten”, then when Jonah joined again the ”Coffeebreak is over”.
I think you might be describing a shortcoming in yourself, when you can't appreciate those jazz keys forays over the funk groove. You need to broaden yourself, Over the Horizon, perhaps.
This is how I found Dirty Loops it was a ringtone on my phone a good few years ago . Then I entered the Dirty Loops rabbit hole and never came out

Yeah crazy how unknown they are generally.
They are world renowned musicians. It's just that they don't get enough mainstream media mileage.

Probably the best Loops I have heard yet. Thanks 😁😁
this is the Samsung default ringtone from the Samsung Galaxy 7 from back in the day, :) I remember when I downloaded this from an app for my Galaxy 6
To my understanding, Samsung hired Dirty Loops to redo this track for a ringtone for their phones
And a lots of money
Whoa, cool! Looked it up, and this was literally a commission by Samsung for a cover of their theme soundscape ditty, for the Galaxy S7
Cheers Steve another new Dirty Loops track to view with you.. thank you 😊

Pretty awesome for a song derived from a simple ringtone.
How I love listening to your breakdowns! It's like listening to the song again with another part of the brain.
Thank you!
Have a great day :)

Thanks fiddlestix!
Love it. Looking forward to what's next.
The sheer amount of musical talent and ability concentrated in these three young men is OFF THE CHARTS. It should be illegal to be this good.
Over the HORIAAAZOON

Thanks for these, Jens!
You have to check out Jacob Collier's version. He's an absolute wizard with it.
Made the same suggestion. Steve hasn't touched Jacob yet which is a bit surprising to me. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Never heard of them before! Added to my list now 👍🏻
@@SteveOGRock If you haven't heard of Jacob this will really put a smile on your face!
Rock You is a great choise if you haven’t done it yet. Also their older cover versions. And of course Jonah’s solo stuff…
I have done Rock You! Absolutely loved it! Search my channel videos for it 🤘🏻

Dirty Loops should try El Estepario Siberiano on a song or two 😁
Swedish sound machine featuring White stevie wonder
Please watch Henrik and Aron do Bitten by the Kitten
Will do soon!

If anyone’s interested, here the short clip on the making of Dirty Loops’ “Over the Horizon”:

Almost certainly. But all I have is my current knowledge to offer.
@@SteveOGRock ... We all have work to do brother, I know I do.
Henrik Linder (the bassist) really set the bars too high so that it would be difficult to cover even for the likes of Davie504.
please reaction the final trailer for Gatotkaca 2022 pls
Movie from indonesia
I’m not a movie trailer reaction guy but thanks for the message!
You don't seem to know a really nice keyboard solo even when it's in your face. Rambling about bass drums and "jazz cordes".
