    This is a very insightful video Kat. Thank you. I just got my first role as a junior UX Writer and tbh, it's not the easiest and I understand why top companies are only hiring seniors now. There are a lot of 3 weeks, half-baked UX professionals who don't have actual measurable results. Thank you for your courses on Udemy. They are now a holy grail for my UX work.

      First of all, thank you so much for your kind words! I'm always so, so happy to hear that my courses help people feel confident working in UX because it is such a cool field and UX Writing is such an awesome, interesting career path to follow. And also, congratulations on landing your first role in UX Writing! 🎉 How cool is that! Especially, as you said, since junior position have become so rare these days. Also, I completely agree with what you said about "half-baked professionals" in UX. Everyone starts somewhere but I see a lot of people thinking that UX is a field that you can just jump right into because it doesn't require a lot of qualification. I think that is also because so many experienced UXers make such harsh comments - some of them just feel insulted by the way their profession is looked at by newbies or outsiders.

    Thank you! I have over 12 years of experience in ux and nowadays find it’s not useful, because this field need the person you learn new critical things every day and stay late every day. I hope that I can change this career path to thing that focus in 9-5 and focus on life because life is too short to spend it on us field that need too much effort. By the way your are amazing and like your studio and the video was very inspiring

    Kat, thank you for your sharing! I love that you showed us 2-sided views and figures to picture the industry changes. Your thoughts inspire me to re-think about reality and how to react.
    In times of crisis, we must all decide again and again whom we love -I read this quote from a book. I wish I could make a wise decision and keep going :)
    P.S. I also enjoyed your Udemy class, especially for User Research And Testing For UX Writing.

      Thanks so much, Kay! Also, I love this quote - it's so true. Sounds a little cliché, but I also think that times like these test us and ultimately, some will stick with UX Writing, and others won't. And not sticking around is okay, too! Health, happiness, and security are more important than any career. Wishing you all the best for your future! May your decisions lead you to exactly that: health, happiness, and security!

    Hello, I am a 33-year-old English teacher. I want to switch to online teaching permanently and, at the same time, learn UX writing. Should I also learn UX design?
    Also, I am confused between UX writing and technical writing. Which one to choose?

      @@write-with-dr-kat Thank you very much Kat, the courses are worth every dollar paid for them, and by the way they are worth a lot of money and their price is very low compared to the scientific value present in the course.

    Hey Kat, I am Miya, a copywriter with 4 years of experience. I want to transition to UX writing. Will that be a good choice? And my background is in Computer engineering. Will technical writing be more suited for me? I am a bit confused. What is your opinion?

    • @write-with-dr-kat
      @write-with-dr-kat  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi Miya, thank you so much for your comment. What an interesting background! With your expertise, I'd think you could potentially thrive in all three writing disciplines: UX Writing, Technical Writing, AND Copywriting, and it probably depends on what is more fun for you to do. However, if I HAD to give a recommendation, I'd go with UX Writing, as it is closer to Copywriting than Technical Writing, so you could benefit not only from your technical background but also from your Copywriting experience. Do you have any experience with UX Writer or Technical Writing yet and know what feels more "right" to do for you?

    I really wonder how many industry professionals might be discouraging newcomers just to reduce competition, similar to how people in Austin say, "Don't move to Austin; it sucks here now"? Then you go to Austin and it's pretty damn amazing. Could they just be concerned that an influx of new talent could increase competition, potentially leading to experienced workers being replaced by younger professionals who can do the job just as well, if not better, for less money? Difficult to say from the outside.. They seem to stand little to gain by telling them otherwise and much to gain and or secure by telling them what they are currently saying. People...

      Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! This is a great point here! Especially with many fulltime positions being shifted towards contraction work, fear might be a factor! Which is particularly sad because the ones being most discouraged are probably the ones with the highest potential in the field. Many of the early bird UX Writers are just not used to even having competition (this applies to me, too!), but as you indicate, discouraging people to try their luck or acting as if UX Writing was an absolute rocket science of a skill that you can only acquire if you are exceptionally brilliant is just not it
