Turn 9 really is one of the most underrated fights in the game. As a side note, she was the unsync run ender for so many sprouts who thought they could stomp through the coils no issue. They'd trounce everything else without much effort, then Nael and the ice dragon especially put an end to so many unsync groups in HW and SB. Even in SHB, she could kill level 80 players if they weren't that good.
She can still kill lvl 90 solo tanks if they fuck up their invuln timings for ice dragon. I didn't have the patience to learn the timing on ice dragon (which varies based on your burst phase timing) to min-max invuln uptime, so I had to switch to reaper to solo her as my dps burst had just enough damage to end the fight moments before the ice dragon could kill me.
1. DPS her to low 70's 2. Wait until she casts Ravensbeak 3. BURST 4. Now you've skipped meteors and if you keep your DPS up, you can kill her within a few seconds and don't have to worry about ice dragon If anyone else still needs to solo this one!
I started the game almost a year ago. When I finished ARR, my FC happened to be organising a regular synced Coils run. This was my first raiding experience in any game, and I had a blast going through the turns. Turn 9 gave us quite a lot of trouble, we were a party of mostly inexperienced sprouts, and even after all these months, beating Nael is still one of my most memorable moments in this game.
Its because of the Binding Coil that I have a close nit group of friends where we do dungeons and other activities. We even had the pleasure of meeting each other at the 2018 fan fest in Vegas. Those raid hit a good chord with me.
It is wild to feel the heavy nostalgic feels of this video Happs. 2.0 release feels like just the other day, and we’re on the 10th year!! Still kickin here! I remember downing T5 “Twintania” with a late night after failed attempts within our own static raid groups on our old Faerie server. Downed it with famous healer Kionu back in the day for like server 3rd or something! Still have screenshots on. The old ps3 lol And of course there was the birth of Mr happy Titan HM videos that allowed us all to get to turns Bravo to 10 years of this game and your channel Mr happy ! 😊
Hey Happy, as someone who is just now getting into raiding, I'd LOVE to see a video that goes over all of the slang terms for different mechanics and what raids/trials they came from. I love the history of this game!
My most favorite from coils has to be T9, I had a blast learning it with my FC back then. We were already overgeared running it with 130ilvl since we only started going through coils in 2.5 but that didn't take away from the fight at all. It is still my favorite encounter I have ran to this day for sure.
T3 is still the most fun experience I’ve had in this game. We’d all throw 100k each into a pot, take all our equipment off bar weapon and first one to the end got all the cash. The amount of shithousery that came from switching platforms on people was brilliant Big fan of t7, t6 was alot of fun too
I wish there was a short graphic inbetween each placement to keep track of already ranked turns. Especially at the end, a nice overview of all the rankings would've been nice. Great video anyways. Enjoyed the commentary a lot.
Have to say, I remember watching some of your coil videos all those years ago so I had a good idea on your top three. I did all of coil on drg and I think kahlia was the most difficult for me especially with how enmity worked, all it took was a critical to early and you're now the tank. T13 though, as much as I hated landslides, hearing answers play in the background, hearing it progress as you got closer to the end, it made bahamut prime feel like a final boss
Have not done these raids properly as I only started playing a couple years ago. Something I really like about these raids is that they all had a sense of place and continuity. I loved that you got a message at the start of each raid telling you how many yalms underground you were Its something I kinda feel like fell off starting with the Omega raids, fights are just a platform on a cool background. Definitely at its worst with the Eden raids, as much as I enjoy them. though they also had to work on that at the start of covid taking off, so I can't be too harsh. Really glad the Pandaemonium raids have a consistent design theme where you can tell these are locations in a place rather than just being some random design.
The binding coil of bahamut abd Alexander had entire areas full of adds and some very minor things tondo before the boss. It looked very nice back then but in reality...it was not creative at all and in the long run it will turn out as a chore. I think the approach the alexander raid had with the door boss before the actual boss was brilliant bevause if you did not defeat the ad then your dps is NOT beating the boss either.
@@Yokai_Yuri its still sad how lazy SE is nowadays... Makes me jealous of what WoW has, huge sprawling instances filled with adds, lore and life. Meanwhile in FF14 every fight happens in a bizzaro world arena thats completely empty besides the boss.
@@ich3730 I'd even take just normal mode having the adds lore and life, and have Savage untouched. I get that running back is the pain part of WoW but there's no reason not to have sprawling dungeon in normal mode. Let Savage be purely the fights and the normal mode the exploration and the sense of awe.
Ah yes.... The Binding Coils. When they were released I discovered I probably wasn’t made of hard content. The ‘coils’ Before Bahamut were tough but feasible. But the boss fight? After repeated failures with the FC raid party, I had to bow out. The stress was getting to me. Not so much because we got wipe after wipe but because the FC members started going at each other’s throats. It, eventually, perhaps, inevitably, broke the FC appart. I didn’t touch CoB or any hard content until Shadowbringers. Yeah.. uncool. Turns out, I CAN do hard content. 🤣 However! It’s still not easy to me. 😆 Thanks for the nostalgic trip. 👍❤️
Such fond memories. I have memories of running though turn 3, as my raid leader would always queue up Yakity Sax as we ran through it. Nael to this date is still one of the best, and hardest fights imho ever made. The only part of the tier unsync'd that is incredibly hard to solo. Fond memories of killing bahamut for the first time. Lots of nostalgia here.
I remember T9. I knee the fight perfectly but back then I did not have a static. So a good pal of mine who was in the FC took people from othwr FC and mine and they created a group just to help me out. Then... I got HORRENDOUS internet connection all of the sudden. I could only play through parts of the fight and I caused so many wipes. At the end they kinds carried it with 7 man and I was able to get my clear. I was so ashamed and happy at the same time, but I will never forget T9. It was easily a fight that upped the difficulty a lot compared to anything else at the time.
I absolutely agree with this ranking, especially top 3. I've been thinking about going back to these fights with friends, just to see if I can reawaken that old feeling from back then (eventhough some things will probably be a bit easier than back then)
personally 2nd & final Coil remain one of my fav raids.., if not favourite overall (hard, but not too hard, many interesting / totally different mechs & styles, great glamours (!) etc..)
Binding Coils minilvl is the only "hardcore" content I did with a static, but to this day it remains my favourite memory of playing the game (and BOY did it teach me to play this game). We took a rly long time (around a year I think) because we were going only 1 time a week, but we made some rly fun memories and everyone pulled their way and stayed chill to the very end. Nael / T9 was 100% my favourite fight, the mechanics are so fun ! And as a tank it felt really good to be involved in the mechanics along everyone else (thunder, fire, etc) Then I think my favs are probably 11 (as a tank) > 12 > 13 > 8 > 5 > all the others Def hope to get around to trying the Ultimate Coils someday >:Ô
T5.., the dive bombs T_T..., clearing in PFs T_T (but was fun, when finally getting the dive bomb & twisters down was fun!.. it's dev futher up on my list)
I still want to clear second & final coil on sync, I have not gotten around to do that. There was an attempt on T6 but we didn't manage it during the 2 hours we were in there.
Played Blm main till mid / late Stormblood (and again start of Shadowbringers).. ... T1-4 were boring (but I didnt raid week one).., ..T5 and all following fights were fun as Blm)
I'm a person who wants the longer normal raids back, maybe not as long as some of binding coil, Alexander did the storytelling with less. But I'll compromise. Savage is boss only. Possibly with doorboss and checkpoint.
Possibly. At least we know Yoshi P said the next expansion will change FF14 a lot. We also get the graphical update after so many years. If anything they might release some merchandise or make an event in the game
Bahamut should be 1 just because unlocking the fight nets you a 7minute hifi fmv that theyve never done again, which totally blows. Also they need to bring back full voice actingin raids bc all these stories- Omega, Bozja, Eden, Panda- just...theyre kinda dull in cutscenes, 14 certainly makes the money to do this for all major side content
Im progging T7S now with my static, this fight is fucked up on savage shit is no joke. Dont even talk to me if you havent cleared coils mine lol. Thats the FF14 skill gauge lol
I think t1, t5, t6-13 are my favorite fights to this day with only even 4 rivaling them. The game is so scripted and controlled now we will never see fights like these or Alexander's ever again and that makes me sad. Job design went that boat to. We have more jobs but less variety, werd.
i know right! ff14 is stale now. in turn 3 you are going down the ragnarok, the spaceships engine hull. now tell me that isnt cool. all we get now for raids are just primals on a square map or a circle map. bor- ring!!!!
