To those of you who enjoyed Think and Grow Rich, and this is unwelcome news... Understand that you can enjoy the book and get something out of it the bits about “positive thinking and goal setting”, without following in Hill’s footsteps.
Being aware of the limitations of the book is important. The man was a documented con-man during his life. This is a fact. He was also broke most of his life and plagued by his actions. This is also a fact. But you still can know all of those things and take something away from his book positively. 🤔 Thanks for watching!

In the years since then I've found that nearly every 'self help' book that people recommend is simply a rehash or modern adaptation of T&GR. I've long since stopped read self-help books, preferring academic books on history and economics, finding them to be far more helpful.

My overall take from books from N. Hill, Earl Nightingale, Dale Carnagie etc. is adjust your attitude. When you improve your attitude life becomes easier and good things will naturally come with your attitude adjustment. Don't take a lot of the advice literally: just think and things change. Earl Nightingale once said "one's reality is the mirror of one's mental attitude". Many good things have come from books like this, despite the less than perfect characters of the authors. Books like this have immensely improved my life, and no, I don't define success as being "rich", but in terms of significantly reducing stress in my life, getting along with my spouse, taking pride in my work etc. ALL from an attitude adjustment, which books like this encourage.

Coffee I love you but you are so wrong. To start, it is completely normal for people to lose belonging's in house fires etc. Look at Larry Janesky (worth $500M ) in CT after his mansion burned down with thousands of his journals and belonging that can't ever be replaced (search this). Look at Future who did his entire mixtape 56 Nights with DJ Esco and lost it. Are you going to say all of those songs were never made? Second thing, why would you charge the president or politicians for knowledge? It is clear that the wealth was not important to Napolean but rather it was the drive in man to acquire that wealth and overall accomplishment. Its similar to you not wanting to start a course but are interested in why people do so. Something turns you on about it, you investigate it, which is why you spend 60 hours per week making videos. Who knows maybe a part of you wishes you could turn on your Caleb Maddix switch and become a guru. It is a known fact that Napolean Hill lost all of his belongings after becoming wealthy and became a humble writer in his early 80s. In his book "Grow Rich With Peace of Mind" he talks about how the money he made and how he did not have peace of mind. Money was not important to him, mens desire to keep acquiring was what was important to him. The issue with calling the book "puff and fluff" is his book sold 100M+ copies and is still the top business book today. Reality check, puff and fluff books don't stay in circulation for 100 years. While you have an opinion and strong evidence against him.. there is just more evidence going for him. a 10.5 BILLION dollar company Chick Fil A's founder Samuel Truett Cathy (STRAIGHT FROM HIS MOUTH) said that the motivational book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill was one of the greatest foundations for inspiration growing up. (Eat Mor Chikin: Inspire More People, 2002). Oprah Winfrey, worth $2.6 BILLION preaches the secret which is a baby of Napolean's work. Ken Norton who knocked out Muhammad Ali used the book to give him the inspiration. The point is, you don't look up to Napolean, you look up to the people he interviewed. It is a KNOWN fact, that he interviewed hundreds of millionaires and billionaires. If you understood how this works, once you are in a selective group it becomes easier to get to know the friends of those groups. The book called Three Feet From Gold tells a story about this. The last part pisses me off the most of what you said. You mentioned you don't just "wish yourself to success" but he never says that. In fact he clearly states that the prayer alone will not bring riches. It is the demanding of not taking poverty as a solution that allows the universe to move your life towards riches, which starts with a mindset and environment shift. You missed the most important book out of all of them, Outwitting The Devil. He says in the book "I know nothing about any form of prayer which can be induced to work favorably in a mind that is colored, in the slightest degree, by fear. I now pray, not for more of this world’s goods and greater blessings, but to be worthy of that which I already have." What you missed most of all is Napoleans largest conspiracy that he was often visited by alleged spirit visitations where the spirits would leak information to him in his early 80's. This by far was the most interesting claim he made. His teachings also work the reverse way, in Outwitting The Devil he talks about poverty and what people do to not be successful. That book also was so controversial that it had to wait almost 100 years to be published. It was published in 2011 I think. Once again love you bro, but I am a huge Napolean fan lol

Many people work hard to build things, to create things that most people would not think is possible. Then there are people who look to tear down and destroy the works of others, because looking for flaws in people is their passion. There is a small chapter in “ Think and Grow Rich” called ‘3 feet from gold.’ It’s the story of a mining company whose successful mine suddenly stop producing gold. Someone bought the mine, got a geologist to do some research and found a fault line, discovering that the gold shaft had moved 3 feet with the fault. I never cared if the story was real, I never did research to prove the story was real or fake. I read that story in 1973, I was a junior in high school. Even then I realized that the moral of the story was one word, persistence. For the rest of my life I knew when my endeavors grew difficult or hurdles seemed higher, I knew that I was just 3 feet from gold. Think and Grow Rich is a powerful book. This video is showing how losers think.

I think there are some good lessons in Napoleon Hills books, especially regarding causes for failure. He fabricated some parts of his stories to reinforce ideas he believed to be true. “Outwitting the Devil” being a good example of a fictional conversation intended to express Hill’s ideas.

One of the best bits self help advice is... "You get the job you are doing already". Meaning apply yourself as much as you can now to what you really want to be doing.
Example: straight out of school at 16 I got a job in electronics, with no qualifications, because I had already built my own amplifier. They were very impressed with that at the interview. I didnt bother to tell them the amplifier didn't actually work.... But I was keen so I got really good at the job...

Not sure if this passage is real, as the source I found was from Osho, a "spiritual guru", but he claims that Henry Ford had met Napoleon Hill when launching his book and this occurred:
"In America, when people write books they promote, they go to the bookstalls, they stand there, and if you purchase their recently published book they give you their signature. The day Napoleon Hill’s book was published Henry Ford entered the shop. He was looking for some good literature, and the owner said to him, “I would like to introduce you to a very well-known author and philosopher. His best book is published just today, and he would like to present a copy to you.” Napoleon Hill was brought from inside the shop; he presented his book. Henry Ford looked at the title, Think And Grow Rich. Then he looked at Napoleon Hill from top to bottom, from bottom to top, and asked him, “Have you come in your own car or on a public bus?”
Napoleon Hill could not understand what kind of question this was. But it was from Henry Ford, the richest man of those days, so he could not simply ignore it; he had to answer it. He said, “I have come on a public bus.”
Henry Ford returned the book and told him, “The day you have your own private car, come to me. That day I will accept your book. Think And Grow Rich - and you are still riding in a public bus! And you have some nerve to present the book to me, who has worked hard, day and night, to produce money; who was born poor, and who has reached to the very top in the whole world.”

R ES, what success did you achieve? I read Hill's stuff. He is only one of many people I learn from. It is not realistic at all, to think that learning from one person is all is needed to know. Unfortunately, mentors seem to get people to believe that you only need to read their stuff. I have found it is much better to learn from many people. I am a reader of Napoleon Hill. As you can see from this video, some people do not like him. I was also irritated with him. But then, we can all agree, that Hill, was a successful writer and motivational speaker. There is a speech on here that Hill does, have a look. If he is what this video says he is, I do not know how he was able to make people at the time to believe he advised presidents, met Carnegie. He even received an honorary doctorate degree. How was it able to pull all that off?? After watching more of this video, I think it tells me more that you can't just listen or learn from one mentor. lol. But again, Hill was a successful writer. He was still bringing books out in his eighties.
