this video is an opinion and in no way should be construed as statements of fact. scams, bad business opportunities, and fake gurus are subjective terms that mean different things to different people. I think someone who promises $100K/month for an upfront fee of $2K is a scam. Others would call it a Napolean Hill pitch. - บันเทิง

Selling a dehumidifier as a magical water fountain is a scam in itself but then to go on and sell the scam product wrapped in a pyramid scheme/mlm/direct sales packaged is just scummy as hell ☠️
I feel like it could genuinely work as a product. It'd need a refrigeration unit to keep it cold and a better purification system, and obviously NOT part of a pyramid scheme, to make it work.
@@kevincass9917 That's till you discover that it is cheaper to ship a truckload of water from Hawaii to anywhere in the world than it cost to run these machines in the best conditions until they give out the same amount.
@@kevincass9917 thunderf00t has already debunked this in a video years ago. Dehumidifiers do not work as drinking fountains. Period.
And she was absolutely right, the trick is to worm your way into someone's home or somewhere where they are too polite to tell you to bugger off and press and press until they capitulate.
This was bad when there were legit door to door salesmen who actually sold worthwhile products...in today's age...wow it's beyond bad on so many levels.
@@kevincass9917 i don't think it is safe to drink. first of all it's demineralized as it is just condensate from evaporated water in the environment air (thus leaving minerals behind), which leads to electrolytes being pulled into your intestines from your body reserves, which could create problems with water redistribution, potentially leading to organ failure. On top of it, it might contain all kinds of pathogens and aromatic particualte (smell) floating in the air, which makes your water take like cumsock and fart. there is a reason no one brought it up before i guess
Imagine being apart of a scam without knowing it and then realizing it on national television.

Honestly, that's the worst part. Half the people trying to sell you a pyramid scheme probably got scammed themselves.
@@shayden998100% of them are scammed in a pyramid scheme other than the ones at the top

Triangle plans are a complete scam!! ...now my pizza wedge business opportunity on the other hand ....
Little PSA here: NEVER drink water out of a dehumidifier. It’s very dangerous and there’s no way any filtration system they have in there is making it safe to drink.
That's probably why, when the hosts tried it, it tasted like shit 😭
Even if it was safe, there's way too little water in the air so it'll be very energy expensive and thus far more expensive than just buying water
will it also dehumidify my fart in the air?😮
In the 80's I was working as a Lead Investigator in loss prevention in Chicago. I worked closely with the Lead Detective. One day the Customer Service Manager approaches us with a "cool way to make some extra money". After he explained it to us, we were like, "that would never work - someone at the bottom is going to get screwed". As we investigated it further we realized it was a Pyramid Scheme - and an absolutely MASSIVE one involving tens of thousands of people. So we contacted the Chicago Police and turned over our investigation to them - around 3 months later they made a number of arrests, and broke up the pyramid, which was even bigger than we had thought. And yes, those that we spoke to helping to manage the pyramid really believed in it, and genuinely did not seem to understand that they were involved in fraud.

@@d33763 i forgot what the youtuber was since i'm not subbed to him but there was a guy that went to one of those meetings and managed to get a recording. they use a lot of fear tactics to make what they are doing seem really good
In the meeting they bashed schools a bit, they hinted that college was "sorta alright" but went on to say owing people money is bad or something like that, which was kind of ironic, and they also downtalked jobs that you don't earn a lot from. all of it screamed "you're poor and don't have money to spend, so buy a package and you'll be rich. become your own boss!"
the creepiest part is that the speaker asked people to: "don't question how this works, just question how you can make money as fast as you can/join as fast as you can"

Everyone else crumples compared to like google, which pays everyone and doesn't fuck over the people inside of the web.
sweat?
@@jonyfrany1319 The difference is that pyramid schemes don't pay you a salary, so you have to rely on selling a product that most of the time wont make back the money you spent on them. Let's say its protein powder. First you have to buy a pack of protein powder (most of the time they will try to convince you into buying multiple for a discount) then you have to sell it to anyone you can. Then they will tell you if you hit a quota, you'll get a bonus or an expensive prize. If somehow you're successful enough, you start selling larger quantities to groups of people and boom, you've become the person who originally sold it to you. Thing is, 99% of people will not become that successful because no one wants your damn protein powder and you've spent $500 on packs of protein powder that will be sitting in your garage for years. Or you could just work at JC Penny and make $13 an hour.

She's a smart lady, used to do digital security, and when she described how you give 500$ and then get 3 people to join, each giving you 500, you pocket 1000$ and "re-submit" the other 500$ to go the person you signed up with, I was like "this sounds like a pyramid scheme." I even basically did what the lady did on the show, making the pyramid shape as I'm breaking it down, and she still kept insisting it's not a pyramid scheme.
It was so bizarre. I stopped talking to her much after that since I realized she was only nice to me because she was planning on making the pitch.
I think they're so desperate to get their money back that they refuse to admit to themselves it was a pyramid scheme.
I doubt it's scripted but is vetted and allowed in because it'll make a good show episode. Like the singing ones where they allow horrible singers in because hey you need someone to crash and burn on national tv.
It's like seeing an 11 year old trying to explain to his parents where the mysterious charges on moms card came from
😂😂😂
The dog used you credit card.
Absolutely nobody:
Producers: "We need a pyramid scheme pitch this season."

In Germany Shark tank is called "Höhle der Löwen" witch translates to Lions Cave
Fun fact, the first one: Lyoness actually changed to Lyconet recently and has been fined millions of dollars because of these schemes. The average person wins less than .3 cents a month when the "regular" should be $23 a month. This is very common in Europe and many nations advise against them

Yeah. Had a coworker that tried to drag me into one of these. I was gonna hear them out until they told me there was a $500 startup fee. Like seriously dude I’m not gonna pay to work for you.
One of my saddest days was when I realized shark tank had no sharks.
Appreciate the commitment to the bit by pouring water all over your face. Well done.
"It's a pyramid, multi-level direct marketing" What a true veteran through and through 🤣🤣
"Good, old-fashioned..."
Good old fashioned PYRAMID scheme.
I had a lady pitch a pyramid scheme to me in the parking lot of the grocery store I work at, and one of her biggest selling points was "It's not a pyramid scheme"
If you have to specify it's not a pyramid scheme, it's probably a pyramid scheme.
I imagine it'd be a laugh to say "It's not a pyramidi scheme" when talking about something that's obviously not actually one
@@Lunalite "Would you care to see our wine list? It's not a pyramid scheme."
It's not a pyramid scheme, it's a reverse funnel system.
if someone pitches something to me in a parking lot, im probably not investing lol. It would need to be something extraordinary like investing in their family while they aim a gun to my chest
His pitch sound like the Fizrr script 💉 but a financial 'herd immunity'
at 15:30 i met one of those saleman, he was outside an auto parts store trying to sell a spray lube.. i said i wasn't interested and he said but sir it also cleans your car and quickly sprayed a shitload across the side of my jeep and began to rub it in all over the side, i was soo pissed cause i just finished waxing it... and the worst part was is bonded with the wax and made it almost impossible to get off, i spent like 6 hours to get the wax infused with there oil spray off my vehicle

When you join an MLM, you are not your own boss, or even an employee. You're the raw material.
I have a few friends who got caught in MLM’s and they tried to bring me in numerous times. I hate to say it, but they became drones. They’re all like “how is this a pyramid?” And they make the implication that jobs like the one i have are “the real pyramid scheme. The CEO makes the most money, then the actual employees make much less than them”. And they make seem it so convincing too
@@anthonylong9067 it's so frustrating cos the pyramid scheme is a super ramped up worse version of that already pretty bleak CEO to worker income inequality
@@anthonylong9067 I mean, they're not wrong about how real work is. It does actually work like that 💀
@@anthonylong9067 To be fair they aren't wrong, which is why they aren't aware that they're in a pyramid scheme since their attention is entirely diverted against the current system in place and their ego is being stroked
@@daisy3869 I'd say the difference is that the salary of an employee at a real job is not dependent on said employee recruiting more employees

Pretty sure that the "mug" meant that the judge felt insulted as if "rob me" was written on his face, because American English usually says 'robbing' while British English uses 'mugging' to refer to being stolen from.

I love how the Dragon's Den woman is like, "Let him finish," while the men are interjecting, then just swoops in with a succinct, "I get it: it's a pyramid scheme."
I knew from the starting what kind of person she was, she's the friend who doesn't bully you w her friends but is actually the worst bully, the one who silently & passively mocks you, but you think she's your friend bc she smiles with you, but at the same time makes you/say or do things that she knows will get you laughed at, bc it's an inside joke when you say or d some certain things with her friends
The DD woman knew from the start it was a pyramid scheme, but didn't want to let the other guy ruin the show to early by telling him no no no let him talk! , not saying she's bad person I love her lmao

One thing about dehumidifiers: Every one of them, built by a reputable company, comes with a warning label telling you not to drink the water inside.
Yeah, its basically distilled water. You can drink it in small amounts, but if you're gonna drink it daily you'd need to add a small amount of minerals to it.
@@nicholasweiss4662 The minerals it does have come from dust that accumulates on the fins and small amounts of metal from the fins which are definitely not good.
Depending on the dehumidifying method there can be lethal amounts of bacteria in it. Some dehumidifiers use cooling to collect the water but certain bacteria thrive in those conditions.

I'm not very well-versed in investing, but I wouldn't feel confident in someone that has to take 10 deep breathes in the middle of their pitch.
Even if the pitch is legit, an apparent lack of rehearsal and mental preparation from the speaker is too amateurish not to take into account.
I feel bad for him. I mean, this is different than public speaking classes but those are proof no matter how prepared you are, when nerves get you it can ruin everything. I also think the lights theory is correct. Performance/entertainment lighting is quite warm, but can be set in a way to make the actors/presenters more warm and less comfortable. I think given the high pressure situation and the produced aspects to make it worse, we should have pity for pyramid scheme man
