I am 6'2" and somewhat mobility impaired. As a general rule, we don't go on excursions because coach rides are uncomfortable and we find that they are poor value. In Alaska, I go ashore, find a bar and have a beer and a bowl of chowder. In the Caribbean and the Eastern Med, I shop for cigars and find a shady place to enjoy a cigar and enjoying the moment. In manufactured ports I stay on the ship. Soon to see Bermuda, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, U.S.V.I., San Juan, P.R., and Puerto Plata, D.R. I have arranged a private tour of a cigar factory in Puerto Plata. Hoping for the best. Shine on You Crazy Diamond.
Thanks for sharing my friend! I think you have mapped out a great plan for yourself! A good seat at the bar with a great cigar is always an amazing experience in the Caribbean. I completely agree with your choices of safe, dependable ports to seek out a spot to relax while in port. I also have stayed onboard many times in the manufactured ports making sure to take advantage of other relaxation spots while I have the ship to myself. Private tours are an excellent choice for personalized, curated experiences and also perfect for anyone who has mobility issues. Thanks for watching as always!
I'm surprised that you didn't like the horseback excursion on Half Moon Cay; we did this about 4 years ago, enjoyed the views from the land part of the ride, & thought that riding the horses in the water was a blast! Just goes to show that everyone's mileage may vary 😊
You know, I think the biggest disappointment with that excursion was the fact that I thought it was somewhat short though the team was great! I kept comparing it to the horseback adventure in Jamacia and it did not hold up for length of time, trails and the water swim. I think for a first timer, it would be a great diversion from the beach while on the island. Thanks for sharing and for watching!
