For those who did not get the story her first coach understood that she saw the world differently and needed a approach that would help her reach her goals that was not quite traditional. Once she got the other coach out of the way for a moment she was able to succeed using the skills she had learned from the previous coach. Hopefully that opens a line of communication between her and the new coach.
I really liked this. Although you can see the inexperience in the actors, I think they did a good job. Great vfx and an interesting delivery in such a short running time.
The music is beautiful in this film, and though the audio and acting was a bit off and the message a bit unclear, the use of animation and cinematography was stunning. Really cool film.
I really liked this, too bad the acting wasn't the best from the man in the locker room. I really liked the part were she was running and you had the camera from above and you saw the particles shatter from her body. Really cool! Trapcode?
***** Thank you very much :) Yes the actor playing Jack has actually had no experience in the field before, normally he is a radiographer. During the shoot it did take a long time to get lines right, but overall, I think he did an amazing job considering his lack of experience and was a joy to work with! My cousins had recently started up their own drone company and wanted to help out, it was really nice of them! And yes, Trapcode with textures from shreds of paper, glad you enjoyed it! :D
I absolutely loved this. The plot was totally original, unlike anything I’ve ever seen before, quality and audio is also fantastic. The actors seemed as if they worked very hard on character building, especially the girl. Nice work!
The message of the film, at least as I see it, is that every person, has a way and means of connecting to him, that if found, will get the key to his heart and abilities, that can suprisingly open up and be very astonishing.
Just brilliant composition, visuals and lighting. How were u able to achieve the b/w effects of the paper thingy? I cant quiet explain but i think you understand
Thanks! Yes, I think I get you. These moments were made of two things. Physical stop motion of black paper animated on a white sheet and footage that had been tinted black and white then had its contrast crushed so that there wear no grey parts to the image :) Hope that helps
I liked this. I feel though that I would have done the audio in the locker room different. It changed as the scene progressed. And I would have shown the text of the paper more. Was it a form saying that she was quitting track? I think you could have answered that and made the ending more powerful. I liked it, Im just trying to give constructive criticism.
Levi Stutzman Cheers Levi, I have made those observations myself and would agree with you completely :D Was the first time I shot in such a small space with such a large crew, keeping audio consistent was tricky, but I certainly learnt how to perfect this next time :) Looking back, I do wish the notice was clearer, I would have likely done this by having Jack make it more obvious in his dialogue, but I guess it wasn't already :P The notice was Jack's, as he no longer wanted to coach her if she didn't listen. Thank you very much for the feedback, it is greatly appreciated (and don't forget to vote if you liked it) :D
Great film, love it! Who wrote the script/had the idea for the plot? I love the idea with the cranes, the locked door and this great animation! Wonderful work!
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed all the symbolism and animation too 😁 I generated most of the ideas, but had an amazing bunch of friends that helped pull it all together

@@AllThingsFilm1 What's the matter with his comment advising convincing props? The leading lady actor needs a pair of sprinters with spikes and she also needs to exhibit a sprint style of running. It was obvious. I'll add to that a sprinter's starting block would also be helpful. These additions help make it more convincing, not necessarily over the top in expenses.
Uhm. What. Is. This. About? Exactly? Don’t understand the story at all. She’s in her head thinking about a paper, hindering her trotting along? 🤷🏻♂️ Not trying to be a weener about it. Just didn’t get it. I know short films are hard to do. But. You won My Rode Reel with this? Right on. Hope it was up there in the third to first place. They giveaway some good shiznit.
Hi, it was all built on metaphor for mental disability on focus and having the confidence to find your own path if those around you can't understand the way you think. Unfortunately we did not win My Rode Reel, nor were we a finalist. Thanks for your comment though :)
Audio was good, only messed up in one scene. The actress was alright, but she wasn't fully there on her lines in believability all the time. It was mostly the actor who was really bad. Just spitting out lines with no real emotion at all. Very fast paced which makes the artistic imagination (heck, I couldn't tell it was her imagination but instead I thought it was her powers with how badly it was executed) ...To me it felt too rushed and forced. Like I said, I couldn't tell it was her imagination until I read your description and because of the way it was executed.. Instead of making the feelings of a runner more interesting, it made it awkward. As for the running, I understand that actors repeat a scene for various takes (as I am an actor as well) but I was disappointed in how the actors didn't exactly sprint, or at the very least not run with a certain intensity, as it is a race. I don't know if it could of been a good short film if it was executed better and with a good actor of a male lead but. I believe it was bad and I didn't like it. I don't hate it but, I don't like it either. No disrespect of course. Just giving my critique to help out. I wish you success. 'Might check out your other works.
Thanks for your feedback Alexander. Little more bts info: The film was constructed entirely by volunteer university students, 19 and under that do not study any form or media (physics, history, biology, etc.) Throughout the filming the actress and actor never met each other which was likely to make the female actress struggle to guage how to deliver her lines effectively. The actor on the other hand, was not an actor at all, he is a radiographer and he did his best, haha :P The film had a three minute cap, it was very ambitions and unfortunately, yes we did lose a lot from the power of the film. We did go through multiple training sessions before and during filming with the actress to teach her how to sprint, but unfortunately that was the best we could do, and because of that, the other sprinters had to reduce their sprinting to match her's. I'm certainly not trying to make excuses, simply giving the context of the situation, so that those in a similar situation can understand and might be able to perfect it. I do agree with you mostly on your feedback, but it is all things that were very obvious to us and could not be helped. However, I couldn't find a way to make your comment on execution constructive, considering the circumstances. I'm sorry to hear that you don't hate it and don't like it, because that is the worst outcome as a filmmaker, (you should hate it or like it). So we have failed you, sorry about that. I hope you find some joy in our other work.

Beautiful cinematography, and scenes, but it was hard to understand just what the message was. Did she have a learning disability?

I think the reason you can’t understand it is because of your learning disability
I liked it a lot but when she was running slow and she needs to run fast. Tip to do this is push the camra in the opposite direction of the person
At the beginning of the video i thought that she has an Epilepsy.
Pls explain the story

This is definitely one rule that should not be broken, unless for effect (even then is pushing it).
