Plant based diet made mine and my sister’s diabetes worse with blood sugars between 200 and 400. The only eating plan which keeps our blood sugar under 100 is keto/carnivore with an injection of some leafy greens. For us, non-fiber carbs have been thrown out the window. Bread, pasta, rice and potatoes were detrimental to our health. Here’s an example: in fall of 2019, we began a keto diet and lost 70 lbs or more and brought blood sugar under control. In January 2021, we decided to go plant based and as of February 2022, we were both close to 30 lbs heavier with erratic blood sugars and A1C at 9.3. We went back on Keto/carnivore beginning March 2022 and the extra weight is coming off and A1C is down to 5.7. We absolutely cannot eat carbs unless they are mostly fiber.

Going plant-based isn't a license to eat all the pasta rice and potatoes that we can get her hands on. You still want to limit your carbs especially at the beginning and monitor blood glucose levels.

Unfortunately, keto diets eventually end up in insulin resistance, unless you are running marathons everyday. Additionally, all that animal protein and fat will increase cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, autoimmune disease, etc. Facts. It's all about the amount of fat in the diet. a plant-based diet with high fat will not help and you still won't be able to tolerate carbs

This is the best video that discusses c-peptide and antibodies. I wish all doctorsors would just get this c peptide and antibodies test done so they can better treat their patients. Instead, i have to ask my doctor for these tests. It just boggles my mind why these tests aren’t part of a regular check on diabetic patients.

You guys have seriously changed my life. I was having issues at night that caused my doctor to order a c-peptide test and found out I have insulin resistance (c-peptide was 4.5) this video explained what this means SO WELL! I could never really understand what exactly this meant and when I went a few weeks ago and was told I should begin regularly checking my sugar and that’s when I found you guys. Thank you so much for all the information you share!

After seven years of being diagnosed with type 1, taken only long acting insulin (20 units) my a1c was never above 6 except at initial diagnosis. Now after I watched your video and talked to my doctor I got my results back with 2.1 c peptide, and all antibodies were negative. I will start oral meds this week and hopefully with exercise and low fat diet I hope I will live free from them damn hurtful shuts 😢. I will give your method for one month and will keep you all posted. Wish me a good luck.
Update: now for 3 month without insulin, thanks to your videos, I am free from insulin. Just low dose of metformin. A1C of 6. Hopefully the next step is diet and exercise. Thanks 🙏 for these great videos

Based on your recommendation I had my Cpep tested a couple of months ago.
The range is from 0.9-7 and my value is 1. I had thought my Pancreas was compromised because my fasting blood glucose is low 74-80 but my AiC is still borderline high 6%.
My damage has been caused by 30 years of Steroid (Prednisone) use for COPD (lifetime non smoker)
The only reason that I am not on supplemental insulin, is because I follow the way of eating the you recommend, which has allowed me to become insulin sensitive, but I am aware that in time I will need supplemental insulin.
Thanks for all that you do your advice is priceless.

Insulin resistance in your cells does not increase due to HIGH FAT feeding, insulin resistance increases due to too many carbs and constantly flooding your body with sugar. Fats have minimal effect on insulin levels so please explain to me how that would contribute to increasing insulin resistance in the cells.

Much relief after going through this stuff. Stress no doubt affects my blood sugar levels th-cam.com/users/postUgkx6Cu3qDh3FB7umUbfXaU7hDAHrqvwQyNk Taking a walk usually help bring them down. Eating sweets is not my favorite, but if i take a large portion of them, my blood sugar level rises high. I think it's the high concentration of the glucose flowing into the bloodstream all at once. This is a lesson worth taking note of. This is a great material to learn from.

Mastering Diabetes I developed Neuroendocrine Cancer in my 20’s but it was miss diagnosed until last year 2017 ( I was 47) my dominate tumor was in my pancreas( PNet, same cancer Steve Jobs and Aretha Franklin has) During that 20+ years the cancer ate up and used up my pancreas. All that time Drs said I was type 2 and never believed me that nothing they gave me was working. They only saw my body size but thank goodness I ate so well and took care of myself that I am alive today. Sadly because of the strain on my body I have Lupus on top of cancer, t3c diabetes, Hypothyroidism, and a very long list of other conditions. If I had know what test to ask for I would be in better shape today. Now what little bit of a pancreas left, I have to take insulin and Creon. I also no long make glucagon so it is very scary if my sugar drops in my sleep because I have no way to recover unless I eat. I just take each day as the gift it is and celebrate life with family, friends, and real food 💜

The only thing : the amount of protein and another nutrients must be adjusted to personal demand . And low fat , depend of the fats … This video is older than the last studies about the discussion of the paradigma of saturated fat and Iwe would recommend also flexitarian diet to offer all important nutrients making diet complete and balanced. Again , five years ago the concept and studies about Mediterranean and Flexitarian was not yet so popular as today . We cannot forget the importance to adjust nutrients to brain and immune system, specially essential fats and all aas to reach them.
Each person has personal requirements. The presence of another diseases can dictate also additional adjustments in terms of macro and micronutrients.
Diabetes is quite serious. All nutrients are demanded.

However, most recently, it was 1.39. I've never had an A1C over 4.9, and my fasting blood sugar is 88 as well. Have you figured out your problem?
Some things that have worked for me are: Implementing Ray Peat's principles of eating - boosting thyroid health.
I also think my problem might be mild insulin resistance, not a problem with insulin production/T1D. Would love to hear what you've been able to learn.

In a situation where I have been identified as having insulin resistance, but no elevated blood glucose and no elevated A1c, but having weight gain, to the point where it isn't even being called PRE-diabetes, do these references still apply? I only have 1 C-Peptide result, but I have the Fasting Insulin, Fasting Glucose, and Fasting A1c tests from the same timeframe. I'm trying to determine if I need to dig into this further. I don't remember those particular antibodies tests, but I've had SO MANY of those that I couldn't even be certain anymore...

Still i not happy about my BG because not down more than 170 ml/dl ! (some months ago BG was ok ... 120-135 ).

The only thing you missed was insulinopenia, which may be more common than you think. It is low insulin without antibodies, and may not include insulin resistance.

i have had a c-peptide of 1-1.3 over the past 10 years. I take metformin 500mg ER bid. I had high GAD-65 autoantibodies. I have an HBA1c of 5.8-6.0 I've had diabetes for 20 years. I also have rheumatoid arthritis. Should I absolutely be on some sort of insulin? I have fasting sugars in the 85-95 level but will spike after starchy items whether fruits, sweet potatoes, bread, etc. I walk a lot. I am 70, 5'9", 145 lbs and believe I am insulin sensitive but just don't produce enough insulin to control those types of foods.

I have self diagnosed insulinopenia, and my c-peptide number does back it up. I have no autoimmune antibodies., but I am not insulin resistant at all. I think the antibody question is a red herring, and causes people like me to be left in the wilderness to die. I saved myself from starvation by getting on insulin, after 6 MD's had told me there was nothing wrong with my insulin. I think what you are presenting here is quite good, but all the doctors in main stream medicine aren't even interested in insulin, and think that glucose is all that matters. That will never change because this information has been around for at least 50 years, and doctors just don't grasp any of it. They are happy with the symptom/drug approach, and don't know anything about the metabolism. I do think that educating us sick people is a good thing to do, and our only hope is to find a good naturopath or functional med doctor, but they are almost non-existent in most places, and usually they don't take Medicare, which means we pay out of pocket, but it is actually cheaper in the long run that going to main stream doctors, who will kill you slowly, and with a lot of expensive drugs.

Robby, at around 14 minutes in, Cyrus starts going through the reference range for "Stimulated C-Peptide." On the first two measurements, he denotes, "Stimulated C-Peptide," then on the last one - 4+ ng/ml - he says, "fasting C-peptide." Did he misspeak here? Was he intending to say, "Stimulated C-peptide," again? Please advise, because a fasting C-peptide of 4+ is pretty high.

What is a medium c-peptide value and what is high.
Fasting my BG was 99, A1C 5.6 and c-peptide 4.3. The lab range is up to 4.4 which I think confirms my insulin resistance. But boy is it hard to get anything like a straight answer from my doctor or even the web.
One wonders what c-peptide should be for a normally insulin sensitive person with BG of 99?

I have been searching for this explanation of if my pancreas is still making insulin or not. THANK YOU THANK YOU
This video by far one of the most valuable videos I have watched since I have been following the Ketogenic lifestyle for 6 months with very low progress. I have gone from injecting 150 units of Lantus to 40 units today. My numbers are above 100 so I know i am not where i need to be but i am leaning on the less insulin side to lose weight. As losing weight will help with insulin resistance. Diabetics are just not being treated correctly. The lack of knowledge out among the general public is insufficiant. When people are eating what they want and going for blood work the dr perscribes insulin at the blink of an eye. He wants A1C down. The c-peptide test has never been done for me. I will will be paying for my own c-peptide. We pay thousands of $ to insurance co. One c-peptide test was denied be my primary care. Sorry this is unacceptable. Sorry for the long post.
