Thanks so mich for this video Dan!! Just got my first 2 clown plecos and finally 1 of them is showing some activity early this morning showing himself and the other as well. Love that big driftwood I have he gets underneath it andbjust attaches himself to it and takes in what he needs from it. Went to Petsmart t originally get another Angel, but found they had a black baby Angel which was the last one they had, and found out they had plenty of clown plecos in stock, so I snatched up 2 of them, and love them!! I imagine they will snack on all the diatome in the substrate to help out some, cause I have been getting brown algae showing up so I am increasing my water changes npw and have some easy carbon coming to me today which is an algae inhibiter as well, and helps out my plants too from aquarium co-Op got some water wisteria and floating water lettuce to help out these 2 clown plecos will not hang out together near the driftwood will they? They are both not even 2 inches long. Thanks again for the video!! Always looking forward to them
If you still have cyanobacteria, get some api erythromycin and treat your tank after manually removing it and siphoning it out of the gravel. :) I've been through that before.
Hey Dan, I was thinking about the pea puffers you lost in this tank and why. You recently discovered planaria in your snail tank. Could they have hitchhiked into your pea puffer tank on the snails and become parasitic to the puffers? Keep an eye out for planaria in this tank.
What about those pleco wood wafers that they make? I’ve heard of people keeping their clowns without actual driftwood in the tank but use the wafers made with both veggies and wood specifically made for wood eating species. I think if I remember correctly it’s something a lot of businesses and doctors offices do to keep the water more clear looking but to ensure the animal is supplied with the right nutrients. It probably cuts down the viewership of the fish tho, and idk if it would affect the stimulation of actual wood skimming, but I’ve heard of a couple claims that the wafers along with some real veggies tend to work. Idk if you have an opinion or someone else has any experience in this? A friend and I were talking about it the other day and find it interesting perspective 🤔😊
@@DanHiteshew-oneandonly the brand that I have seen in stores and one guy pointed out to me when I asked about clowns are the Sera Catfish Chips “Wafers with wood for all ancistrus and L-catfish”
I look forward to you doing a video on the difference, between Wisteria, and Water Sprite. I have some fern floating at the top of my aquarium that look's just like yours, with the broad leaves, and my local mom and pop fish store, has tons of it in every tank. So I have been wondering just what it is, Wisteria or Water Sprite. And can you plant it, does it look different when it is planted.
Hey! You're my first comment from Slovakia! (that I know of). I'm sorry, but I've never heard of that product before, but I found this info on it if it helps. www.plantedtank.net/forums/9-equipment/590945-twinstar-experiment.html
thank you! it sounds interesting. some sources tell that it is better than UV filtration, but if I know well you do not use neither of those and you have some very nice fish :)
Yes, it's still there but doesn't come out much when the lights are on. I usually see it in the morning as I turn thee light on. It dashes away as soon as it's light.
Just suggestion to improve viewership to your channel, get a breeder box & catch the fish in it. You have many interesting fish species but unless you showcase them in some way the viewership will not improve. This is my opinion.
I've been following you for a long time, I got in a bad work injury so I had to downsize alot, but do you have an email or anything I can contact you at with questions?
The cool looking Java fern you have is called ‘Windelov’ Java Fern

No, they probably won't get along and hang out near each other.
Nice video. Just got my first clown pleco today. Replacing my bristlenose that just randomly died 😢
Sorry to hear about your bristlenose.

The clown pleco is a dwarf panaque species and definitely needs wood in its diet good call on the drift wood
Hello Dan. Very Nice video. How is your pleco doing?
So far, so good. I just saw it today as a matter of fact.
What kinda plants ya got in there
Probably Java fern and/or Java moss.
Java fern windelov, I think. I have that one and love it.
Melissa Larrison yea it is that
Yes, Windelov.
Mines Clown Pleco Algae Eating Pterygoplichthys Pardalis getting one tomorrow
Glad your neons and pleco are doing well. Its weird that both your barbs and puffers died 😔
Yeah, it's a bummer for sure. (neons are a dollar each at Petsmart again. I got 20 more today)
This java Fern is called Trident.

Great info, What type of algae did you have a problem with in this tank?
I really don't know the species of algae. It was just greenish brownish growth all over everything.
Nice video I love small plecos

That is interesting. I've never even heard of "wood" wafers. I'll check it out and look into it.

What’s the name of that floating plant? I’ve been looking for a plant that spreads out a lot and no co2 require
It's Water Sprite. I sell it by bthe bagful. danielhiteshew@gmail.com

You can plant it, but I'm not sure if it looks different.
Ok thanks, I just have seen so much variation in leaf structure.
Did your L104 pleco eat up your plants? I just got a L104 clown pleco and saw it munching on my Amazon sword plant leaf
I've never has plecos eat my plants. Try feeding it algae wafers.
HI Dan, greeting from Slovakia! I just wanted you to ask if you know the product called twinstar for algae control? if yes what do you think about it?

Have they got odesa barbs. They are stunning colours. You should check them out in the shops. The males are stunning
Do you still have the clown Pleco. I really love to see it at close quarters if you still have him.

Does the clown pleco ever eat your plants?
Noyt that I've noticed. The scraping of the leaves can harm tender plants though.
What is aufwacks? Am I spelling it right?
Close. It's "aufwuchs".
