    Nice video! I have a 5 1/2" Common Pleco in my semi-agressive cichlid aquarium. He mostly hides in the rocks or behind the filter intake but it's always cool when you look and he's out in the open stuck to the glass.

      Put a cucumber in there and watch him go wild. Peel the skin and give him a half cut long ways, let it float. Hell go absolutely bonkers. (Might take a while for him to realize what it is)

    Since I reduced the stocking in my 110gal tank I've seen my L066 pleco way more often. He must just feel more comfortable now with less tank mates. Current stock in the 110 is a large male Severum, a keyhole cichlid, 2 Otocinclus and the L066. Quite light

    • @dwsdarius
      @dwsdarius  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting! The severum don't bother the oto's? My old red spot severum was a savage and she would have definitely eaten oto's

    I returned to aquarium fishies after many years, 5 weeks ago. Opted for 3 baby fantails, one snail and a pleco.
    Steve the pleco has always been very active during the day, especially enjoying nose diving into his bubble volcano. I only clean algae from the front glass. He has rocks and plants ( which I brought with algae on).
    It seemed odd him being so active, as everywhere said they hardly see their plecos. But Steve is such an interesting creature to watch 🥰

    My dad has a Green phantom pleco. We had him for like 3 years. And now in 2023 and 2024, we saw him in the 30 gallon now adays, I come down stairs to see him he hides because i walk slowly towards him to say hi. The thing is hes in a peace full tank but when i see him he goes back into his cave so i feel sad till i see him again till couple minutes pass.

    I have two plecos (a Bristlenose Pleco and a Clown Pleco). I see my Bristlenose Pleco all the time, but my Clown Pleco is very elusive, and I rarely see it. I've also attempted to put a couple of Rubber-Lipped Plecos in the tank, but I would only see them for a few days or a little over a week after I put them in, and then I would never see them again. That was about 6 months ago, and they're now presumed dead. I've also tried keeping smaller Bristlenose Plecos, but they kept dying for some reason, but I still have one that's outlived its conspecifics. If anybody knows why, please let me know.

In 2 weeks I've only seen him once on the front glass. I dont even see him come out at night. My fish aren't aggressive. Do you think it could be the age of the pleco too? Maybe as they get bigger they get more bold? I've had very large plecos with oscars before and they were out all the time even with the oscars trying to nip them.

    I think it would be a good idea, if you did basic research in catfish. They are all bottom feeders with very delicate mouths. Most of the rocks in this tank are completely unsuitable for them. They must be really miserable with this company and suffering from micro cuts. If they are even still alive, that is. Albeit hardy, this amount if stress will contribute to their rather short lifespans. The bristlenose are much more tolerant of most environments. They happen to be more of a “rat” of all plecos, adaptable to pretty much anything. Still, I would never subject any to this tank.
