You are truly amazing. I am retired reinventing my cooking at 55, a great cook but trying to cook lighter. My boyfriend is very fussy on things like green veg and no fish. Love you and your recipes ..cooking lighter will be much easier and exciting following you and your recipes. Thx so much.

I've been a healthy eater for years now, but your tips on fridge staples, and just throwing different veggies into everything totally revolutionized the way I cook. I've always been a great cook, but I'd argue that adding veggies in even more creative ways than before has made me that much better in the kitchen. Even my veggie hating husband loves the new changes. Thank you!

I've been trying different Vegan Protein Powders recently, and the best one I've come across so far is Orgain Organic Protein Powder. They've got really delicious vanilla and chocolate flavors I'd recommend - the price is good, the macros are good, and the taste is great in my opinion. I mix it with my coffee everyday and have been experimenting with it in baking recently.

Hi Dani. Love your videos! Someone may have already told you this, but the "black rice" you are using is actually "wild rice." It is not a rice at all, but a seed as I recall. It is also culturally associated with Indigenous communities in the US and in Canada. I always buy mine from a source tied to indigenous communities, rather than from a company that has appropriated something that it is so much a part of the culture of native peoples. (It makes an awesome wild-rice soup!) Best wishes.

Hi Dani! I’d like to chime in and say, you can use farro in stews and soups. It’s neutral in taste and packs a punch from a nutritional profile. Try it, you’ll love it! I’m from Serbia and we eat sardines exactly like you do. The only thing that we add, is a good hardy piece of fresh French bread. I’ve learned so much from your channel and wanted to say thank you, and keep that content coming!! All my best, Marsha

Love your videos! We are so much on the same page with kitchen staples, including the variety of salts. One thing, since you asked, is about cooking rice. I would be lost without my rice cooker; it's great not having to watch the pot and I'm not a fan of pre-cooked rice when the rice cooker can do it for me. For a while, I didn't think the cooker would do justice to brown rice, but I was wrong. The trick is the ratio of rice to water. For brown, double the amount of water to rice (I do rinse the rice a bit first in a fine strainer). For jasmine white, use less water... 1 1/2c water to 1 cup of well rinsed rice (get that starch out). Ps. I would not use a crock pot for rice.

Anchovies= Hairy fish, and I hate them!
Over here in England, Kosher salt tends to be called fine sea salt but it's not as fine as table salt and it's the same as what you use in terms of granular size. I love Maldon sea salt also from England.
I find that Ghee is gorgeous stuff, and it's particularly good for baking where a lot of recipes call for softened butter, as it's already soft. Much better for us too.
Take care and keep safe, David.🌞❤️🍝🍞🥧🧁

Our family enjoys using canned salmon for salmon patties: a can of salmon with a 1/2 cup of bread crumbs and egg and some chopped onion, then pan fry for about 5 mins on each side. We serve with ketchup like a burger patty, they're yummy.

Unfortunately I'm hyper sensitive to chemicals and that includes the inside lining of tins which have chemicals on them, so no canned food for me. I'm also sensitive to lectins, so no grains or rice for me except for Millet. My specialist doctor told me not to eat anymore canned fish as my heavy metals were sky high, even the wild caught fish in stainless steel tins from the organic market are no good - especially the tuna and mackeral. I get head spins from the fish these days which is the metal from the fish leaching into my brain and it's hard to get it out. Can't do those protein powders either because they come stored in plastic containers which make me sick - anything stored in plastic makes me sick. I even get sick from using a dishwasher with plastic racks, when the water is hot the BPA from the plastic rack leaches onto the plates and that makes me ill. I can do salt and bone broth! I can't do oatmeal because it has lectins in it and they play havoc with my gut - severe stomach pain. Vinegar - I'm not sure and canned soup I couldn't stomach because of the lining from the tins. Needless to say I have to home cook every single meal from scratch using toxic free cookware. I can't travel far or go out to cafes or restaurants or just grab a take away - those days are gone. It's all about the chemicals which seem to rule my life. :(

Great stuff & I'm right on board with most of these! One thing though - I couldn't see the label on the red salt but I question the term "Himalayan sea salt". It's rather a contradiction in terms, as the Himalayan mountains are nowhere near the sea! Having said that I almost exclusuvely use Himalayan pink or red salt. As it is the healthiest type of salt. Purest, cleanest because it is mined at high altitude & hasn't had a chance to gather toxins washed down on it as with the salts gathered at low altitudes. In addition it has not been bleached, something that leaves behind other toxins & strips out essential minerals. Even the "gray" sea salt that hasn't been bleached is not really so healthy, as it, like other sea salts likely contain toxins to some or other extent, depending on the location from which it was obtained.
But yes the flaky kind is fun to use for a little bit of garnish on sweets or homemade crackers or breads! Ok didn't mean to make a big deal out of a small thing but as this lady said it's an often overlooked but important staple!

I do recommend you this Mexican Brand “Birdman” is a Plant-Based protein powder, it is very delicious and you can find it on Amazon. And for Whey Protein I Loooove the Sascha Fitness the quality is mesmerizing and so many variety of flavors.

So proud of you for bringing sardines into the equation! I happen to be having them with my salad as I watch. They are truly one of earths super foods! I use cooking wine as well as vinegar and I am not sure what the difference is between the two?

If you have any other suggestion with canned salmon (i only do burgers with it) that would be appreciated. Also mentionning that those canned fish products do have to be ocean safe....we are killing our oceans. I have greatly reduced my used for those, but still love them once or twice a month ! Merci !!!!

Love this! And I love sardines! I actually make a “ bolognese ” with them and have it with pasta. And I do a fried rice with them.
