Didn't actually know you could p-lock the FX parameters, and I've had this machine for years! Thanks!

Dude. You sold me on this over the TR8s. I was worried about not getting the MK2, but I really don’t think it’s worth the extra $1k now. Crazy you got it for $600, I got someone down to $725 and that’s best I’ve found. I may just bite the bullet and be studio complete for a while

For $725 it's still pretty good. I just had a look on FB marketplace and there was a MkII for $900 in the LA area. Both are great machines. I like the fact that the Mk1 is a little smaller in size.

Sadly prices increased since this video because elektron release their Rytm 1.70 update which added many feature to both MK1&MK2

They are both great boxes, extremely high quality sound & pro quality results can be achieved, without as much fuss for the learning curve of expensive & more complex products... I own every Elektron besides a Machinedrum now. But I haven't decided selling my Models boxes for acquiring the others. The Digitone & Model Cycles compliment each other very nicely imo... Cycles is a perfect partnership to combo with Digitone as it's FM based drum/percussion sounds & extra tracks & sequencers for expansion of the Digitones refined FM synthesis tracks. Before the Syntakt arrived, I've had similar Elektron tracks & results from using Digitone/Cycles together... As the Syntakt can for the end results of making music in ways Elektrons are unique for. While I've chosen to set up & use all the Elektrons besides my Models boxes & Monomachine... They are still not devices I consider less for necessarily. I produce electronic based music with the aid of 2 other long term pals. They had seen my interest & acquisition of Elektrons grow from first buying Digitone in the yr or so it was released... By now I'm really ready & starting to produce the music more with them, & not having another Elektron I've bought arrive... just at the time I've had time properly learning the Elektron prior to its arrival. Now the guys are even more impressed by what I'm creating with the sum of the whole set up of them... But they could see from my results just learning & combining 1 or 2 Elektrons beforehand. That each of them, from whatever price range, or different synthesis/sampler engine they differ for... They all can achieve unique Elektron material & results. The Models boxes are cheaper but they can easily sound as great for using & combining with all other Elektrons... & they can make other brands grooveboxs seem less refined as products. I leave my Models boxes at our other studio with one of my production partners. He always has some Elektrons to use & learn from now there... & I always have those Elektrons ready for me to use when I'm in there too. My other guy runs a label we are now working thru, but he also is our guy who helps add production needed to finish up material & master things too... So he has got my Monomachine to work with unless I want it to use again. We all are now able to make patterns on these Elektrons or the other grooveboxs we have now too. I simply let the guys know what bpm & key of music I'm producing patterns in on my own material for a track... & they already have ideas & patterns too by the time we are together again in the studio to work. We always have about 70% of our material working well together, for getting ourselves together with our groovebox patterns to sync up, & start mixing up in a studio together. We may have no idea of what each other has done on our own. But it sure beats the he'll out of coming back to old things to try make finished or having a blank slate, especially for starting new stuff. The Models boxes may not be my main Elektrons to work on things for... But they were too good not to hold onto & consider keeping in our circle. To cheap really for their quality of sound & the great results of what they can produce... In the same nature as one does buying or knowing the pricey Elektron options imo. Great explanation & demo of the sound & parameter locking from that Cycles in your video. More examples of people showing this feature off, in ways it should be demonstrated will help folks understand what is very unique about all Elektrons... Wavestations via wavesequencing also achieves these results, Not enough demo's actually have 1 track isolated, to play thru a sequence of a Elektron behaving & sounding like something from Korgs Wavestations etc tho. Good example of the cheaper models Cycles playing & achieving wavesequencing tracks... They all do it, & people don't have to spend big to buy what any Elektron is unique at doing.

100% It's all about making it fun and finding out what works for you to make the most out of your gear and produce the music you're trying to produce.

same here I do not have a few of the Elektrons but I have the main trilogy (Rytm/OT/A4), Digitone and Analog Heat and they are super ace stand alone or used together or with other gear.

Love my Rytm MK2! Hands down the best all around drum machine. I bought mine on sale a year ago and looked at Jomox and Perkons that were not as powerful from a sequencer workflow perspective. Yes Jomox and Perkons have killer sound but horrible user interface and poor workflow.

In my ears it sounds more lofi and darkly vs the Hifi mk2 but maybe I'm getting old and after all this yrs on vinyl mixes I lost some waves😂

hahahahahha possibly. I haven's had the Mk2 in my studio to do a shoot out. It could be the signal chain in and out of the computer giving it the lofi vibe.

@@josephdwyer8505 ok maybe is that is true. Is funny tho how a jomox and even an mfb kills it in every possible way. And it breaks my heart as I have the elektron bug since the very first machinedrum. In my head they went backwards with rytm. And even more with new gen syntakt etc mk1 still gets praised tho for a weird way where I come from they ask 800 900 euros

What i think its that 1600 Euro payed in 2015 for the Mk1 version was way to much for what it was.
16 bit sample converter in this price point? Absurd.
The pads not really touch responding.
Maschine Drum was way better then The Mk1 version.
But now the Mk2 its just another story.
The Mk2 its a ok value for the Money.

For me it's all about the synth engines, filters and distortion. Being able to import samples and layer them with synth sounds is so good for when I'm creating sample packs.
