    RYTM MKII and A4MKII are the backbone to my setup and I'm forcing myself to dive into every corner of both machines (over time) to really get the most out of them. They're really deep and it's easy to get drawn to other shiny new devices, but these can do so much and sound so good that it's hard to imagine needing more (though I have more and always will haha). Planning on doing an EP towards the end of the year with JUST the RYTM. Should be a fun challenge. =)

      same here and the best electronic bands of the 1980s like Depeche Mode used very few bits of gear in the beginning to record theirhit records! Only decades later after they became super wealthy and famous did they acquire tons of shiny new gear and their new music is not as good as the old stuff. Like how Martin Gore of DM saying he had to layer the ARP 2600 due to lack of budget to buy gear!@@OoraMusic

    Also a word on Elektoron Sequencers. The grid does remind of x0x but also, the whole probability, conditions, triggless trig etc stuff, as well as separate track length has its roots in tracker software.

    I bought an MK1 a year ago and the TR-8S at the same time, The TR-8S was instant fun and easy to use. I was disappointed with the Rytm tbh and put it away until last week when I decided to give it another try. I watched tons of tutorials and I finally learned the basics, my opinion about it has changed completely, I wouldn't say it's the best sounding drum machine for my style of music but it complements the TR8S beautifully, it''s all about the sequencer and P-Locks for me. I'm still trying to wrap my head around importing samples and saving kits etc, but the Rytm is a keeper.
    great video as always !!

    I had many drum machines over last 25 years. Currently, I have Tempest, Tanzbar, Jomox, Machine drum, Volca Drum and AR mk2. if I had to choose one it would be AR. It just does the most of what I need the best. It is nice going for perkons, or designing sounds on Tempest, or using creamy power of Tanzbar, but AR beats them all, and in pair with Octatrack and MachineDrum it is my main percussion source.

    Hello my brother, I am looking at which drum machine I bought because I want to sound different, I would like to know if this machine is good for creating kick drums for melodic techno and techno peak time, I would also like to know if this machine allows you to create quality special effects such as build -up or risers, among others. I would greatly appreciate your response as it shows that you handle it well. If you have another machine to recommend that you think may be more useful for what I am looking for, I would appreciate it. For my studio the dark Elektron trilogy of Rytm, OT and A4 is heaven and I also use my Virus TI2 and Digitone/AH such powerful gear in small space. Rytm holds it on against more expensive gear like modular analog drums for example.

  • @ccmp23
    @ccmp23 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I love my Rytm too, also have the Syntakt, but find I use the Rytm way more.
    Have you ever considered the Toraiz SP-16? If you get past the ‘Pioneer DJ’ vibe to it, it’s really powerful… p-locks, 2 fx per track… and the Prophet 6 filter. 🎉

    • @happylittlesynth
      @happylittlesynth ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I own the RYTM MK2 and the SP-16 ... Besides the amazing DAC and Filter, IMO it doesn't hold a candle to the RYTM. Heck, you can't even delete samples off it, and Pioneer has essentially abandoned it. It is great for what it does do though, but the FX are really bad IMO.
      That being said, it could definitely be an integral part of a setup when you need stereo samples!

    • @OoraMusic
      @OoraMusic  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I never tried one, maybe I should

    • @ccmp23
      @ccmp23 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@happylittlesynth I keep reading this ‘the fx are bad’ comment, it seems like someone’s written it in a review and it’s been repeated down the line. Granted the reverb is not a Big Sky, but, generally the fx are superb and very underrated… they’re mainly Dynamic based fx, the Ducker (per track!) is superb, the distortion is really good, as is the Lo-Fi, and you get Delay per track… the available FX are fantastic for tonal shaping and mangling IMO.
      I know the SP-16 has its quirks, but it’s like having 2x Digitakt (but stereo!) and an Analog Heat in one unit, at a bargain price. I love how performative/expressive it is too.

  • @chinmitten

    It's probably one of the best drum machines ever made to date, unfortunately for me it's very complex to use and takes so long to learn and to learn it to the point of proficiency, i've stopped using it and started using the Vermona drum just for ease of use, but for me it is class...So much swing and delicacy of the drum sounds...this is a must for any studio in my opinion...Also syncs beautifully with pretty much everything...and for the price it's a versatile workhorse...And again also if you want just the drum sounds on a budget you could go for the Elektron Samples...

      I think the DT/ST combo is the greatest drum machine in the world right now - especially with the new machines they just added to the Digitakt. I had a RYTM and very much liked it, but it's beginning to feel abandoned by Elektron. Also, if you have a Syntakt, the machines in the RYTM are the same, but not as many. Also not a fan of that particular form factor, but that is just me.

      Also it can’t be used as like just the drums or just the melody easily; everything in it sounds great and is super fun to make noise with which is totally my bag; but with the intro of OT into my central setup I would prefer to split the duties

      I’d say the sampling and over ridge really pushes this over the edge, the jomox kick drum and Erica lxr02 being close seconds, picked up a Berhringer 09 and 08 simply because I’ve always wanted them and they are fast to program. RYTM is so deep with tons of tweakability!

    I always find rytm sounds ..hmm.. flat, muddy and far from organic especially if you compare to alphabase, tanzbars, but versatile. I just feel this machine needs so much work after to sound really good. But it is a matter of taste and for some people it fits perfectly.
