Actually, it was relatively simple but more involved because of the elements and power points cycling between them. The adepts summoned creatures which were best aligned to their own elements, but you could summon any creature to an elemental plane (green is earth, blue is water, purple is air, red is fire) if you had enough power or energy. The two immutable power points are "the void", and thus, the "terrain" is barren. Overall, the wraiths were the most powerful (IMHO). Their life force could exceed what they entered the fight with. Defeat a few fools, and you could easily have TWO bars of health.
i never understood the strategy of this game. . . to me, it just looks like 2 players taking turns summoning monsters onto each other and then they never attack the wizards and sorceressessess and then back years ago, my brother would play and we'd be going back and forth and then suddenly he would cast this spell that just said like..okay your wizard vs my sorceress, 1 battle, whoever wins, wins the entire game.. then i'm watching this video and 11 minutes in, it suddenly says "order wins" and i have no idea why.
I think they wanted to have more strategy than the first game, but I think it was a little over complicated. If you save up enough magic power, you can cast Apocalypse and fight a single battle to win. But you can also win by having each power square occupied by one of your creatures, which is what I did, and that automatically wins the game. I try to avoid Apocalypse, because the computer AI is ridiculously good.

Not as good as the Atari 8 bit version.
i prefer archon 1. archon 2 is 'overengenerd' I would say xD
