      Hey Robb, if I ever get out of the house again, I’m going to do an incognito country blues gig and call myself “Rusty Drains”. I have another avatar named “Electric Bill”. He’s rockabilly and fights in parking lots. Rusty will be a plumber. Your always inspirational.👍
      Perhaps I’ll even go to a Doctor as Rusty and take your thumbnail as an instructional note. I could sure stand to be refurbished.

    I once stripped most of my very rusty 1969 Karmann-Ghia to bare metal and used many cans of the aerosol version of Rustoleum Rust Reformer to try to hold off further rusting until I was ready to tackle the restoration. Worked pretty well and it lasted for several years. Never did get around to the restoration. Miss that little air-cooled rust bucket. Everything in life is timing - if I would have had TH-cam back then, such a project would have been so much more doable.

      hey John, can you imagine if we had YT back then? On the other hand, there is still so much that is not found in google searches or on YT. I have a book on alternative architecture -Ken Kern Owner Built Home, and the author gives a lot of references to people and methods and when I do an online search I can't find any trace of them. I had a friend who had a Karmann-Ghia- the back seat was uncomfortable but it looked so cool- I think it had dual carbs which drove me crazy to work on.

      @@RobbsHomemadeLife It was a fun car (was my first, I think I was 19 when I bought it). Single older lady owner who got it as a wedding present from her father. Only 50,xxx miles. Unfortunately she let it sit under a tree, and between that and the NE winters it was a mess by the time I got it. But it ran. So simple to work on - and little things always broke (fan belts, coil, etc). Adjusting valves every 3000 miles was a pain. Crazy how my modern car needs an oil change every 6000 miles and is good for 100,000 between servicing. LOL What finally parked it was some vacuum issue with the insanely complicated mechanical/electrical/vacuum auto-stick system. Found a VW autostick service manual at a car show, but the guy wanted $250 for it. Only spent $450 on the car. So it sat and eventually I just let it go to someone else.

      @@RobbsHomemadeLife I agree about the books. I have a weakness for buying books (frankly I buy more than I read). Currently getting back into moldmaking/casting. So nice to have places like ebay/thriftbooks/betterworldbooks where I usually don't pay more than $4-5 shipped for any text. Lots of old techniques that seem to have been lost to time - but at least immortalized on paper. Makes you wonder how much current knowledge in digital form will just eventually disappear into the ether.

      hey Moe, I hate plumbing. I lived in an old house once and started fixing plumbing and stuff started breaking so much I thought I was going to end up in my neighbors house. I would go to the hardware store and the guy there would call other workers to come look at what i had brought in. it was like the antique roadshow for them.

    Looks new! I wonder if you could take a high grit sandpaper and buff out ceramic tub scratches?

    • @RobbsHomemadeLife
      @RobbsHomemadeLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey Brad, the bathroom is form 1975 and there is a lot that needs to be done, unfortunately I am on the second floor and do not want to do anything that will create drama with my neighbors. however buffing the scratches might help for sure. I need to find something to take mildew off the tile. the tile wall is old and if I scrub hard it flexes which is not good.

    The chrome cover just fit over the old drain that easily? That's what I need but I was thinking I needed to replace the whole drain or at the very least use a spray paint in chrome.

      Hey RaKa, that was me, I remember the truck and boat. I walk twice a day as I got in the habit of walking my old dog that had belonged to my mom. She was in a couple of videos. There are always people walking their dogs, if your see me again say hello and I will walk down and say hello to you and your dog.
