We used to do is about 15 years ago on our trials bikes, basically there's a C shaped clips that holds the spring in, pop that off and put either a plastic washer, or 3 x M10 washers over the bolt to take up the space between the mech and the hanger. Then just tighten it up. You can still shift if you're running a road cassette, but I'm not sure it'd shift on a standard or eagle cassette
@ Chuck Beef Same here moved it about 3 years ago to open up space in the garage.. I just can’t swallow the cost of modern free ride/ downhill bikes.. I also understand it might cost just as much to update the big hit.
Jackson Daniels Yeah, who knew 26” wheels were too small. Now everything is different. Tapered head tubes, more gears, bigger wheels. Most of today’s parts probably aren’t even comparable with our frames. I also have a Simtra single speed build on 24’s based off Norco 250 probably 2005 era, manitou fork also collecting dust. I rode in college but family and work happens. Not much of an excuse, but no energy to ride after a 70hr work week during summer. Need to cut the grass and work on my vehicles on Sundays.
@@ChuckBeefOG I'm modernizing my 2001 Norco 250 this season...it's difficult! Blew the master cylinder on my hayes so new brake time, got a deal on 4pot SLX! New Levers are too wide to mount on 680mm bars and shifter placement is jank, so new bars too. Can't find decent tires for the 26/24" x 2.7 mullet combo so I'm rocking weather cracked casings for now. Can't find fork seals/bushings for a 2001 bomber so I filled it up with ATF and seems to be alright without spiking too bad. Needs headset and hub bearings, haven't dug into that yet! I'm near the price of a low spec HT in new parts, but I'll be damned if everyone doesn't stop and ask me about the bike. Still rides great and passes FS bikes no problem, nothing like it. I would love to throw a new wheelset under it to get rid of the doublewides, but I'm not sure how I'd like the geo with dual 26".

I got a 160mm travel Canyon Strive CF 9.0 LTD and the part i like the most... The SRAM XX1 EAGLE groupset... Oh boy, How i love that shining gold chain and all... Muc-off products helps me keeping that as shiny as possible... Also the Fox kashima coated fork, shox and seatpost. And i'll miss that if i start using more the road bike as i'm considering to do. You know, i love movistar so much that i got a Canyon Aeroad (yeah i love Canyon bikes too) in the team color, the whole movistar uniform, gamechanger helmet, eyewear, fizik shoes, socks, gloves, water bottles... With all that, i got to put it to good use... But i don't know. I don't really want to leave behind all the mud, the big jumps, trails and all... surely i won't abandon my passion that is cycling, road or MTB, but... Is it possible to keep up with both?
im still rocking an 03 norco atomik team edition . bulletproof , heavy but it can take whatever you throw at it . would love to try whistler on it . . long way from australia though ..
The 2nd guy had one of my favorite brakes on his bike. I run an Avid Juicy 3 in the front. I have a Shimano Dior rear brake because my juicy broke. I do like Dior brakes though.
