    Great review and that helps me understand more about the 1911. I bought a Springfield Garrison 1911 9mm and fell in love with the way it shoots and than I purchased the same in the 45ACP and they are both fantastic handguns. Than I ordered me a Springfield Operator 45ACP and I can't wait to get it in and shoot it, three more days.

    Ilol😂 you say you don't want to bash Kimber. You don't have to my friend. I'll do it for you. Kimber Sucks. I had 2 of them and they spent more time going back and forth for repairs than any other weapon I ever had in my 40yrs of handling pistols since I was 16. You are much better off with the Springfield. I have a 2cd Gen MC Operator that I bought new in 2011. It's among my favorite 1911 I've ever owned. I have seven 1911 pistols and the MC is among the favorite of anyone I allow to shoot it. I try my best to talk anyone I can out of getting a Kimber. I've had Springfield guns for many years and anyone who decides to get the MC, you won't be disappointed

      Hard agree, my last 1911 purchase was the kimber rapide black ice 10mm. Couldn't even get through three magazines after proper cleaning and lube. Even with Wilson mags! I certainly wouldn't have thought I would have had to send back a 1700 dollar pistol after only owning it a few weeks 😂

      I'll join the conversation in bashing Kimber 1911's. They're good for only one thing, use as paperweights. I've also got a second-generation Springfield MC Operator. It's my EDC pistol and the most accurate 1911 I've ever owned.

      I eventually had to take my Kimber to a 1911 gunsmith to get it to run reliably. What a piece of garbage. Springfields for me. My TRP Classic is my favorite handgun.

    The big reason the MC Operator is a big hit is because it's still on the California roster. So you can sell it to someone in California for a premium but elsewhere it's just a typical Operator that's not really a premium item unless someone is interested in the whole "Marine" aspect of it.

    Nice piece. Ever since I got the 4.25 prodigy I've been looking at all of the 1911 models Springfield makes now. They seem to make decent 1911 models. In my opinion for the price. Great video.

    Your Information is INCORRECT the Springfield MC Operator Gen 1 was out back in the early 2000 and it was made to the Specifications of the ORIGINAL MEU-SOC Pistol but with the addition of a accessory Rail for a Weaponlight. During this time Individual Commands were Purchasing their 1911s from Springfield Armory and depending how much money they had the Commands were Ordering Springfield Professional(FBI HRT 1911 w/Rail which was a Special ORDER ITEM), TRP Operator Full Length Rail or TRP Operator and MC Operator. The majority of the East Coast Units were getting Springfield but a couple of the West Coast MEU-SOC Commands were approached by Kimber with an offer to receive EXTREMELY DISCOUNTED Kimber Desert Warrior for their upcoming Deployments. The deal was that the MEU-SOC Units would get the pistols and Kimber would be able to use the MEU-SOC Patches and Unit names in the Marketing of the Desert Warrior 1911 Pistol. The Deal was done and the Units received the pistols and Kimber Launched an All OUT Marketing Campaign Advertising how their pistol is Grunt Proof, well there was a problem with that because before a MEU SOC Unit goes on Deployment they do allot of shooting to make sure that weapons are sighted in and working properly well the Kimber pistols DIED about half way through the Workup to Deployment and East Coast Units had to FEDEX a BUNCH of Pistol Cross Country so the West Coast Marines could deploy on time. This is the Reason the Advertising Campaign that Kimber Launched was Pulled Out very QUICKLY and now days it is just a footnote of firearms history.
    Because of the Kimber issue BIG MARINE decided that is was time to STANDARIZE the 1911 that US Marines Carried into Combat and a Test was scheduled. The Finalist were Colt and Springfield Armory with their Gen 3 MC Operator but because of POLITICAL BS Colt Won the Contract even though that the Springfield Pistol had the front strap textured so there was no need for tape or Pachmayr grips anymore and was slightly more accurate than the Colt.
    Colt M45 have had all sort of issues from the Finish flaking off, Frames Cracking from having 5-6K rounds thru them and issue with the barrel not being as Accurate as the Specification Required but because the then CEO of Colt was a Former USMC Lt. General and the board that was making the decision to whom to give the contract to for the M45 were Old Buddies to Lt. Gen. Key. The majority of the Marines that I know have told me that the M45 was a bad decision and the MC Operator should be the one in their holsters.
    Colt is not the company it used to be 40 years ago when they manufactured everything that they put their name to but now days they subcontract everything and it is very had to know where their parts are coming from.
    I used to have a Gen 1 MC Operator that I loved and after a while I swapped out the MIM parts for Tool Steel so all my Fire Control was replaced with a Nowlin Arms Commander Action Kit that put the Trigger pull at 4.5 LBS but when my nephew graduated Flight School in Pensacola Florida last fall I gave it to him as Graduation gift because I knew that he has always liked that pistol.

      My research and previous knowledge of the MC Operator point to the fact that this gun was used in the 1911 trials in 2010. Many state that the initial intent of the Operator design was to compete as the sidearm of the Marine Special Operations Unit (MEUSOC). Such as this article, and many others: www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2011/06/17/springfield-armory-marine-mc-operator-1911-review/
      However if you peel back the layer a bit more you find that you are in fact CORRECT! From what I can gather, the earliest I can trace the MC Operator to is 2007 and it was had been sold to the Corps in small quantities before:
      web.archive.org/web/20110128211947/www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/2011/01/marine-marsoc-pistol-45cal-012511w/
      It’s interesting you state the Gen 3 was used in the trials because the official release for Gen 3 was in 2015. So it would seem the had that variant much earlier than when the public got it.
      Great info! I will do an update video with clarification in the future.

      @@JoeFromTheAfternoon Thank you! I was in the US NAVY and had many friend that were Marines that I trained with during my time in that I still keep in touch with and a couple of them that used to be Instructors at both Advanced Infantry and Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team were involved in the Testing of the M45 1911 Pistol Candidates because of their vast combat experience and knowledge of what the Operators would need in the Field. I wish the hard drive on my old laptop had not crashed because I had some videos that they send me at the time and were scrubbed from so they would not come back on them.
      I am very sorry that Springfield Armory eliminated the Gen 3 MC Operator with ZigZag front strap Texture which is a very weird but solid giving grip to the 1911 I have a couple of buddies that have the Gen 3 MC and Vickers Tactical Master Class pistol since they both shared the same textured front strap. I had the Gen 3 on my list to get but now that is going to move on getting the Vickers ASAP before they discontinue that model too.

    @Jrsydevil7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That's pretty cool, I didn't know that they changed the cut on the frames. I knew that they changed the grips over to the G-10 VZ grips and they did what they called the "Octo" grip checkering to the front strap and mainspring housing. But I didn't know about the Butler cut on the rail. I do remember that the Marine Corps wanted the FBI's SWAT/HRT guns with the rail. I've got the Gen 3 MC Operator when they discontinued the Gen 2's and then they brought back the Gen 2's so I bought that one. I remember looking on Springfields website and it was taken off their website. So I figured that since I can't get the one I wanted I could get the other one. Then they came back out with the Gen 2's so I bought one of those too. I wanted to get 1 more of each, one to shoot and one to store. But they've discontinued them both..... They still make the Gen 2 CA Compliant. I did just pick up my Garrison 9mm and I've got a New 9mm Operator that I made kind of sort of a Det-1 MEUSOC pistol. Can't wait to pick that one up.

    Have you put red dots on any of your 1911’s? I’ve been wanting to get one, but it seems red dot cuts aren’t too common (especially on sub $2k models). Interested to know, if you have, whether you got it from the factory with optic cut or got it done afterward.

    • @JoeFromTheAfternoon
      @JoeFromTheAfternoon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only 1911 style pistol I have a red dot on is my Staccato (2011). It came factory with the cut. I do know of plenty of people that have had their 1911’s cut post purchase. Some places that come to mind that will do it are Nighthawk Customs, C&H Precision Weapons, Vulcan Machine Works, Monsoon Tactical, Ronin Arms and many many more. Even on sub $2K 1911’s, it can be argued it’s worth getting it done. There’s gen 1 MC Op with an optic that I know of that looks damn good with it on.

    • @JoeFromTheAfternoon
      @JoeFromTheAfternoon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@salpanahi Ahhh. Got ya. So when Springfield uses loaded, it means the features that come with it: forged steel slide/frame, FCS, extended beaver tail safety, match grade barrel, ambi thumb safety, tritium 3 dot sights, 3 hole trigger. The MC Operator is actually within “Loaded” series as well. It’s just the MC Operator variant (i.e. green frame, Pachmayr grips or octagon checkering).
