Cubase 13 has arrived, so who better to take a first look than Protoculture!
In this quick video, Nate checks out the new look interface some new plugins and updated features. As Nate explains, this is perhaps more of a 12.5 update but if you're an exisiting Cubase user there's still plenty to get excited about!
We'll certainly be taking a more in-depth look at what's new soon, along with a new updated Beginner's Guide for those of you looking to start using this classic DAW.
In the meantime check it out!

Love the presenters style. Straight to the point and informative with no faffing about. I think it's a good update but you're right in saying it's a .5 update. Not too sure about the new look yet but sure it will grow on me. Looking forwards to trying the Pultec emulation.
😀thanks, great video, covered a lot in 15 mins
Good to hear tutorials for Cubase - using this and Bitwig more than Logic 👍🏻
Awesome thank you for the video!!!
it's looking good
I ll stay on 10.5 PRO still 😎
Nice update,
but would be great if we could get, instant audition of presets sound, like in Komplete Kontrol..
Loading sounds in Halion is too slow, killing the workflow.
With plug-in managers like Komplete Kontrol and AkAi VIP, a user can audition any preset Instantly, before loading it .
So, Cubase's media-bay, could make proxy audio files, for the presets of any selected libraries.
It would be like browsing the Loops and Samples section of Cubase, but the audition sample is pointing to, calling, a preset for that sound when needed.
I'm wondering about this additional bar above the menu at the top. It takes up about 1 cm of the screen, a bit strange :)
And it is white, not at windows theme
Hopelessly waiting for your Falcon 3 video........
Any update to Expression Maps?
Nope unfortunately
They need to add multichannel multi mono plugin support on 3rd party plugs!!!
Absolutely correct!
I can`t see anything because it is sooo small
are you still using Bitwig more than Cubase?
Bitwig more and more for writing stuff.. I'm still in Cubase for bigger mixdowns, mastering etc. There are still a few things like ARA compatibility that Bitwig doesn't do.
its high time they did something to speed up automation
This is a .5 upgrade at best - should be v12.5, but now they can charge £85 for the update privilege.
Yup. Not worth the money
its very hard to see anything in this video
Meh! - Very weak update in my opinion, specially for what we're paying. Nothing game changing, nothing with a "WOW" factor.
The update is a bit childish. No improvement to workflows regarding modulations. No improvement for beat designer. No improvements for working with loops, more visually appealing and in-arrangement window workflow. Still need to pen some editors to slice things and so on, very old school…
Cubase is cubase.
I really like it. I must be old school.
Some USers can be oldschool, but This software with so many years of history, must open new horizons.@@aquadiamondsekreto5280

Absolutely cannot stand the mixer window. Wait till you get a high track count and your tracks are colored. It's a visual mess. This shouldn't have been a paid upgrade. Seriously you're that impressed with this? Gee another Pultec emulation, I can toss that next to the 500 other Pultec emulations I have.
I'm with you on this!
GUI is going south😢
Mumble, mumble.... please slow down and enunciate more clearly...
you're going too fast!!
