DRUMBRUTE IMPACT! - FIRST LOOK! - ANOTHER ANALOG DRUM MACHINE FROM ARTURIA?!

  • This is my first look at the brand new ”DrumBrute Impact” from Arturia. It’s an initial review including an overview of the functions as well as sound examples and workflow tips.
    This one has a brand new sound and form factor but share the same kind of sequencer that the original DrumBrute has. Its still analog, its still really fun to use and to me, it sounds awsome.
    And…. The stand that the DrumBrute Impact sits on is called ”Kosmo” and is available here:

    To be honest, i'm not really looking for a analog Drummachine at the moment. But this thing looks(sounds) really good and it got a lot of features. For "only" 300€, that's a nice deal!

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh yeah, you really get a lot of machinery for the money with this one!

      Jep, and it sounds cool, too. I got the Beatstep Pro at home, so the workflow sould be very familiar.

    Great review! If I get one of these, my paint set is coming out to deal with the subliminal Dutch Orange stripe. 😀 What’s with Arturia and Roland (TR8), are they blind to the colours they persecute us humans with?

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree about the colors! I just got the SP-404A and that also has the same green color as the tr8s.
      I think I'll try to take the owner bits off of the DrumBrute Impact actually. :p

    Question. So, if I wanted to use this in a DAW( FL Studio), how easy would it be to do so? I wanna more modern work flow. I never see videos showing how these analog machines would work in a DAW. Which Brute is the better overall machine? The original or this one? Looking to purchase the best option, ASAP.

    diggin` the orange, sounds funkier (as an o-DB owner), but i adore the tambourine and all those lovely outputs on the original. Plus running (anything) through an Analog Heat can be all the bliss one needs. Still waiting for the hugely delayed tr-8s and the Beh808....but if i had none this kiddo would be the first one.

    • @sodiumlights
      @sodiumlights 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      (although the `curtis-steiner` filter sounds classy in print, trust me, a deflating/inflating 1" balloon would out-excite it)

      Hehe! I like both of them a lot but sure, the new feels more exciting!

  • @synriser6742
    @synriser6742 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sounds better than it's bigger brother but still not sold on the sound.
    Cons:
    1. it would have been nice to add distortion on single sounds
    2. no automation
    3. As I mentioned, don't like the overall sound of it.
    4. no pitch
    6. build quality
    7. individual outputs
    Not really a con but personal taste:
    They should have gone for white or the same light bleu as the text instead of the ugly orange.
    Pro's
    1. light
    2. not to expensive
    3. added distortion
    4. analogue
    5. FM func.
    I think you get tired of the sound very quickly. Why not make a hardware version of spark and not just a midi controller? Or a massive Drumbrute with FX and automation.
    For more controls and a better sounding analogue DM I would go for the Vermona DRM1 MKIII.Although it has no sequencer you can always hook it up to a BSP. I know it's double the price of the DB impact but it's worth the money.

      Finally a comment with substance!!
      The new drumbrute is shit!!

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do agree on some of your points. Distortion per sound would be awesome, it would also be great to have some more FX on it and such...
      I think you're 100% on point with the pro's though and for what it is, I'm just really happy with it. Hard to say just now id I'll get tired of the sounds of it. Thanks for taking the time to write a comment with this much insight, I appreciate that

    • @synriser6742
      @synriser6742 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is just my opinion. It is just a matter of taste and choice. The market now is oversaturated and people have a lot of choices. If you have a limited budget or just starting out, this would be an affordable DM, if you like the sound that is. On the other hand there is also the Volca beats if you don't have a big budget.This is maybe not a good comparison but just saying that there are a lot of other affordable options.
      Hope I make sense cause English is not my native language.

    • @JustAnotherThisDJ

      Hey i just ordered this today as my first sequencer. You're correct the market is overwhelming for a newbie. So many pieces of kit out there. What sampler would you recommend linking this up with, on a budget. Thanks

    Hopefully they make one that can load .wav samples, still has distortion. Also basic sample editing, maybe formant and drum shaper

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really? I can't really see that coming from Arturia but you never know.

    Must be fine for Hip-hop, House and other modern genres, but not so much for 80-90's music styles. The kick and hats are weak. I'd rather get a digital sample based drum machine.

    • @Decoy303
      @Decoy303 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ewww. I would rather use the independent drum outputs and run those though select pedals to beef up the be sounds. However you really don't have to because of the distortion master. I crank the master distortion and master volume all the way up. The individual tone volumes can then do the rest. You can do adjust from whatever you are running out to suck as an independent receiver or mixer. I wouldn't call the sounds in this thing weak at all.
      Here's a little loop I made.

      BTW this looks nice but kinda pointless for me.....i have Maschine studio, KK and maschine jam. Theres NOTHING this can do that my hardware can't so i'll pass.
      Had to pass on the Uno by Ik Multimedia as well but you might wanna check it out. I'm sure you would really dig it especially for $199

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get your point! I just really think getting hardware like this is great from a workflow perspective... For me it's all about the combination of getting great sound easily accessible and the pure fun of using a hardware device like this :)

    1. can you sequence the color?
    2. It sounds as crappy as the old one (ok, maybe a bit less crappy, but still)

      Yeah, I don't think that I 'get it'. Most of the sounds are terrible. I can't imagine working with such limited options. Like those sounds specifically dont seem like they would sit well with any genre.
