As an Irishman the Polish and Finnish are the only other two nationalities I’ve come across that are like us. I love the Poles, they’re the most welcome immigrants Ireland could ever ask for.
The Hungarians are a solid bunch I think as well. Agreed on the Fins. Any time I met one in Sweden, we had a common understanding. To the point where if we got along, surprisingly well, and then the where are you from question popped up, a feeling of clarity was, possibly mutually, overwhelming. I think common experiences bring us together in thought and actions - we had the Germans and the Soviets, the Finns had the Swedish and the Soviets, and you had the English Germano-Franco-Nordic mongrels. I left Northern Ireland in 2009 for Britain after working with Eastern Europeans with Eastern European accents but you could understand them, when I came back 9 years later they all spoke the Northern Irish dialect, which I can't understand being a Southerner. A Romanian girl who speaks fluent Tyronese interprets for me particularly when local non migrants who from both communities speak a form of English no one in the Anglosphere could interpret.

Hello everybody. Would someone be able to write here in comments what Nikita is saying 6 months later. I'm learning English but I found it difficult to figure out what they're saying. I understand around 50% only.
Some words sound Polish, the most characteristic one is pronouncing I'm "polish" like shoe polish etc. But it sounds too Russian, and Nikita is a Russian name which we don't have in our language. The most characteristic thing in my opinion is that Polish people pronounce every part of the word, even those which are silent or aren't pronounced as their spelling would suggest.
The accent is hilarious and polish pick up irish accents really fast in a short space of time in ireland
same with them in england tbf, i guess when your language has that many sounds and complicated stuff in it most others are simple to master.
