    This is perfect! I have an old quilt that was all hand sewn and hand quilted by my grandmother, and great grandmother...probably in the early 1950s, from fabrics that were 1940s feed sacks, then made into clothing, then too worn to be clothing. I've kept it folded in a cabinet and pulled it out to use as a Christmas tree skirt. But, THIS would give me something i can look at and appreciate, far more often, and be USEFUL.

    I really want to make one of these but I'm finding it difficult to find an appropriate quilt in the UK...any quilts I see are so expensive! And for some reason there aren't usually quilts in the charity shops (at least not in the ones I know of!). How much did you pay for your quilts if you don't mind me asking?

    • @WellLoved
      @WellLoved  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got all of my quilts at thrift stores, so they were all between 5 and 15 dollars!

      Don't you dare say that to yourself! remember your creativity starts with your eyes... set yourself some time to walk around the clothes rail at your local thrift store and start imaging to yourself what & how you would redesign upcycle the garment and bring new life to it .. your imagination and motivation will kick in once you give it some visual fuel ... give it a try !

    You can put side seam pockets and patch pockets on the front. That way you get extra pockets,keep your hands warm and have a place for your phone and keys etc. Your thrift flips turned out great,very cute. If you have enough fabric you can even make a hood on the long orange coat that can snap on and off,or make a bucket style hat from leftover fabric. I would love to make a long coat for myself. I am thinking of making a patchwork coat for myself from small pieces of fabric that I have. I also want to make a kimono style robe from Asian/Japanese style fabrics.

    • @WellLoved

      It took me a bit to understand this step while learning too! It basically acts as an edge finisher - like what a server machine does - so it’s right on the edge of the fabric

    I love this sooooo much! We're the sleeves just squares? Or were they tapered toward the bottom?

    How does the seams look inside on the sleeves? Are they just zigzaged or you used some special seam?

    • @WellLoved
      @WellLoved  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the seams inside the garment are straight seams, the edges are just zigzagged to mimic a serged edge so they don't fray!

      @@WellLoved I love vests, but for some reason I imagined that it will look old fashioned and grandmaish with that print. But I thought that you will make it regular size😁Which I would probably do, and I would look like I am 80🤦‍♀️🤣
      It was a great idea to make it short. You have a great design ideas!

    Great job, but be sure you aren't using blankets that someone could still need and use.

    • @WellLoved
      @WellLoved  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! there are an excess of blankets in stores, and I typically purchase the higher priced ones or damaged ones to ensure those in need can get what they need.

    The quilted coat hands down is my favorite. I love the pumpkin-spice color. It is so good for the fall. Worn simply with a turtleneck, high-waited jeans and boots. Chef's kiss.
