    I love watching your videos. This one really excited me.
    I'm still working through the stage of apprehension of covering stuff up.
    Every video I learn something new or get a new idea or a new thing to try.
    I'm autistic and have adhd. I never make the same piece more than once. I love mixed media and relate a lot to your style, it's very similar to mine. I love doing something different each time as I'd get very bored doing the same thing over.

      @@jackieschomburgart thank you Jackie for asking. what i run into is putting down the first layer and then getting stuck on where to go from there. i think if i had a choice, i would love to get more information on not "overdoing" things and where to go when you get stuck. in other words, you have made your marks, you added paint, etc. but then what? i usually start to put down collage elements but what i find is it becomes too busy and the piece loses focus.

    I don’t work in oils. But I love what you ended up with and it was fascinating watching you get there. I am always striving to do abstracts. I’ll use most media except oil and acrylic. It is always a struggle, but, as you say, if it were easy, I wouldn’t bother. I’m hoping I will have a little more clarity after watching you work, so that I will recognize whether something works for me or not. Thank you!

    Love these! Thanks for sharing your process. I've been doing the 100 day art project with watercolor and acrylic printed collage scraps, but I never thought of using a gelli plate to imprint a design onto the piece. Great idea!

    Love the way these turned out! Like you I love using collage , especially black and white, to take my paintings to the next level. I also like your approach, just show up and do it, never mind the outcome. We are so critical of our own work and that can stop us having fun in the process. I have a request, could you show us how you did the white collage papers you added towards the end? They are fabulous. Thank you for sharing your process🙏

    How joyful: making it interesting not necessarily beautiful. To my eye the piece is done, pleasing to my eye, comfortable with my eye. But your eye differs saying the flow continues . The end is not nigh.

    Where did you take improv classes? I ran The Basement Theatre in Atl for 16 years…performed usually 3 nights each week… and taught & took so many classes (all around the country and Europe).
    I love hearing you compare painting to improv!!!

    • @jackieschomburgart
      @jackieschomburgart  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! I love meeting other improvisers - it was such a big part of my life for several years. I took classes in Chicago at Second City and iO (formerly Improv Olympic) - it was the most fun thing I’ve ever done. I joined a group and performed at the Black Box theater in the Chicago suburbs for a year or two about 15 years ago. I laughed SO much on a regular basis and would stay for the improv shows after my Friday night classes at iO. The BEST! I really do find art and improv overlap a great deal (at least the way I make art lol). What kind of art are you interested in?
      I made a few short videos comparing art and improv that you may be interested in:

    Loved it. Are you thinking about contrast or value in the early stages? Thanks.

    • @jackieschomburgart
      @jackieschomburgart  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! Contrast and value are always in the back of my mind, so I do try to make different kids of marks and different values of paint colors while I’m creating. That said, I try to keep it at that in the beginning and not worry too much about composition and placement of my marks in the early stages. Towards the middle and end of a painting I’ll focus more on editing for contrast and value. ❤️
