  • In this video (Part 1 of 2) I experimented with an exercise I learned from a free Judy Woods workshop earlier this year using four 20"x20" canvases. I varied each canvas with slightly different interpretations of the process and it was fun to try a new way of making a background. This video is largely using black and white acrylic paint and some collage.

    Materials used: Canvases, acrylic paint, graphite, color shaper, and collage.

    You know what might be cool, as well as the paper pieces you put down first? Some tar gel! That makes a 3D texture.

    High contrast... I love it! the one that you said you really liked is my fav too. I would hang it as is in my house. Funny how simple things work sometimes and not other times. Practice and play is how you find out why one works and another doesn't.

      You’re so right about simple things working sometimes and not others. I used to get stuck trying to “fix” the ones that weren’t working, but these days I’m learning to accept that those are meant to be something else - perhaps finished in another body of work or perhaps covered over to begin again. Either way it’s a win - just different timing ☺️

    I too, followed Judy's workshop and although there were seeds of inspiration, I did not allow my own process to integrate and was quite unsettled by my poor, representational result. You have been able to adapt the concept to your own abstract styling and have some stunning canvases for further development, or not. Really good work, Jackie!

      Thank you, Ann! Since this video, I’ve added more representational details and I’m in a weird, in-between stage with them right now. 🤦‍♀️😬 Here’s hoping I find my way out of it 🤞😂🤣

      Thanks Dianne - I’m currently in the midst of a weird, in-between stage with them. I’m as interested to see how they will turn out as you are 😆😂

    I took Judys free course. Great to see how you interpret the prompts she gave us. I found them great stepping stones and actually produced some pieces I liked. (Not always the case )

    Hello Jackie! Question how long does it take for all of that to dry? I'm looking forward to the next steps

    • @jackieschomburgart
      @jackieschomburgart  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m using acrylic paints so it doesn’t take long at all - only 5-10 minutes till I can add more paint. 🤗

    hi jackie, do you set your mic at different levels for different videos? sometimes, the volume is very low & other times it's easy to hear. this video the volume is very soft even tho my computer is set at highest volume. vynthia

    • @jackieschomburgart
      @jackieschomburgart  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cynthia - good question. I went back to listen to them and there are differences between the sound on the live videos and the non-live videos. I use a different microphone set up for the live videos, and those are louder (I don’t have much/any control over the volume of the lives that I’m aware of). As for the non-live videos, I can hear them fine, but they are quieter than the live videos. Thanks for the feedback - I’ll turn that volume up before I record future videos so that you’ll have more flexibility in what volume you’d like on your end! ❤️
