    You are humble, but (even if you just meet it to yourself!), you should own the role that your calm, measured delivery has played in the growth of your channel. Your personality is inherently embedded within your videos. You create great content, useful, practical, and inspiring, and I love how you consistently show the technology from both a teacher and a student perspective.

I just can't say thank you enough for your guidance during this time.After watching many tutorials from various teachers, I realized the dynamic impact technology can bring to the classroom. As a teacher in a school in deep East Texas where things like school wide Flocabulary and Newsela are not a thing, I have appreciated the ideas on how I can incorporate new ideas using technology so propel my English 1 class. So many of websites that you’ve shown are free or can be purchased at a relatively low cost so that I can brand out and utilize 21st tech skills in a low tech district. Not only are low tech, sites like NPR and all add-ons are completely restricted. You have inspired me to think around these obstacles. I appreciate it and will continue watching. I think you have a great knack at breaking down using technology so that it seems doable. I look forward to your class and more videos!

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much for your comment, Jennifer! It's funny that you mentioned Flocabulary because that's a program I actually always end up purchasing out-of-pocket just because I love it so much! That being said, my budget is limited as well, and I genuinely only use free programs 99% of the time.

    Sam, thank you for being a great resource in this unprecedented time. In this new world, I have been thrust into the role of tech support for other teachers. Your videos have made it possible for me to be that support without recreating "the wheel." The wealth of information available online, both good and bad, can be overwhelming. Often I will send teachers to your channel to watch a video, then we will walk through their specific challenges together, as needed. I have also used your videos with students to help them take a more active role in the learning process.

    Sam, your content and delivery are both amazing. I am just about to go into my teacher student year in London in a forward-looking school. As a career-changer, I have used technology to add value to my work in the past and am keen to start my lesson planning with all possibilities in mind - the student teacher experience, going forward, is going to be different too.
    You have addressed the gap that is apparent in my experience of homeschooling my own kids with content provided from their teachers. Your videos have made me so much more excited for the year to come and I will be able to try out these out from the start. In the meantime, my kids are going to be guineapigs in my tech-led home summer school, haha.

      Haha, I love it!! I do wish we were seeing a more coordinated strategy about how to approach remote teaching. It's far from ideal, and wrought with challenges, but that doesn't mean we can't try to implement a strategic plan.
      Thanks so much for your positive feedback: it really means a lot to know that my videos have been helpful for teachers dealing with this whole situation.

    Ive been away from teaching for the past 3 years (studying Japanese) and now Im looking at all the new technologies (since I was last in the classroom) to use in the Math/Science classroom to meet students needs. I think my approach this year is to use blended learning where I can both have in-class teacher led instruction but then let students work at their own pace after a short while. This should ease students into using these platforms even if school should be "outsourced" at some point. So for my part, Ive been circling in on Pear Deck (for teach led instruction) and Quiziz (for student asynchronous learning). These two platforms at least seem to be sustainable since I can incorporate them into Google Slides. (Your hyperdock idea really got me thinking. I never even thought about using a TH-cam timer before.)
    I totally agree with what you're saying but I do think you missed another point here as well. Schools have to be willing to PAY for the technology as well. I work at a 1-to-1 school but sadly buying any costs above that is "highly frowned upon".

    • @NewEdTechClassroom
      @NewEdTechClassroom  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jill, Thanks for another thoughtful comment! Your approach sounds like a solid one. I like that you have a simple plan for how to use two different apps for two distinct purposes: a handful of purposefully selected apps is much more important than bombarding students with a huge array of randomly selected ones!
      Yes, I couldn't agree more about paying for technology. Hopefully a silver lining of this whole situation is that it will push schools toward one-to-one devices and having a bigger budget for purchasing access to programs, though I know we're still far from that becoming reality.
