Horizon hobby is the best, my Dx 9 had a broken spring, they replaced it an updated my DX-9, horizon my next aircraft radio is the IX-12 keep up the good work..
stefano ath guess your spotter needs to pay attention then.... Fly safe, and follow laws. A GPS app isn't going to get you any closer to your downed drone than a buzzer.

look into rssi telemetry, it will lead you to your craft, by how strong the signal is. Yea, that is some tall grass all right, I would have nightmares for life if I had to find something in that jungle.
Just purchased this transmitter, and I am supposed to be able to run BetaFlight on it, but cannot figure out how to install BetaFlight on the transmitter. Github shows versions available for download for Windows, Linux, AMD and Mac. Downloaded the Windows file to the transmitter, but when I tried to open it, the transmitter displayed a message saying "cannot open file". Help!
We've never said that you can run Betaflight on the radio. We did, however, mention the radio runs perfectly with PIDFLIGHT. Look for that in the app store and then you can adjust PID's on the fly.
Endless possibilities with this tech. This is pushing the hobby forward not just making the same damn radio and slapping someone’s name on it...clears throat Taranis.. lol
wouldn't that need to add an extra antenna or 2, depending on the freq/diversity? add about 100-200 bucks to the price? i would rather have a glass screen over the plastic one.
I doubt they will not sell many to the UK, as Horizon Hobby are not in the UK anymore, Harlow service centre shut a couple of years ago, I have 5 Spektrum transmitter's and only 1 needed repairing at Horizon Hobby UK which was done very quickly, alas if I require a new R C Transmitter I will only purchase one that has a UK service Centre.
Will this unit allow full 12 channel ppm with the Crossfire LRS? I have your DX9's and use to use DragonLink LRS V2 and V3. After the latest firmware update on the DX9's both behave very odd to the point of pulling the DL. I phoned you guys and a quick answer was, it is not recommended and you do not give support. Next - will I be able to access all 12 channels with this and the Crossfire? I only got 8 out of the DX9, Thank you guys, I have a few more questions :)
Congratulation SPEKTRUM, finally the competition is here. But going to wait and relax, let the expert figure out in coming weeks or months and by then, deeply study the INDEPENDENT- REVIEWS and get into target. The question is, how the Spektrum system well adjust into Android... Thank you.
Don't get it.Why would I surf the internet, using up my tx battery, with my phone is in my pocket. Might as well put a mic on the tx so I can call my club members while flying. Just as useless.
There is a lot more that the radio can do other than search the web. Having wifi, bluetooth and android really allows us to do cool things with the radio outside of googling what to eat for dinner tonight :)
Dave Doyle. Where is your imagination? Surf the web? That's it? Just so you know, you can communicate with friends via apps or program pretty much anything. Yes, exactly right! Leave the phone in the pocket with Wi-Fi hotspot on and fly. My noise cancellation Bose ear buds will be in while I fly and receiving voice alerts as well. I won't have to look down or reach in my pocket or hear outside noises. If I have to take a call, I still leave my phone in my pocket and use my samsung smart watch or possibly the remote, if someone has the imagination to make the app.
Why would you not want to talk to your club members. Think about it. Everyone yelling over planes and all the miscommunication prompted crashes. I am an IT guy, so get a simple conference number to set up and people have an earbud in one war and a mic. Keep yourself on mute unless needed and always listen to what's going on for safety. If you have just you and a quad chasing a plane, why not have better communication concerning the current manounevers. Let's just start simple though, a simple app on the touch screen that everyone runs and a button for alert with haptic feedback. Not on the flightline, turn off notifications. Get more advanced, you press landing or taking off and everyone else's remote sends out that username and their current action. "Dave Doyle Landing Spitfire"
Rather have a co-pilot than another communication device on my radio. Help the pilot fly . Assist with flaps,gear, trim with out having to look down or feel for switches. Just saying .
I really like the transmitter and the price really isnt a problem, the problem i see is when you continuously receive notifications on your transmitter. I get enough of those on my personal phone and my company phone i certainly dont want them on my radio too! I like the idea of an android based touch screen radio but will probably be more of a pain in the ass. A guy at one of the local hobby stores said do not put facebook on it because of tge never ending popups. Its just a matter of time before Google figures out they can make a buck cramming ads into your radio! I think ill pass
IMO this is just forced implementation. They didn't find a problem and then solve it, rather they just used the available technology and tried to come up with uses for it. All these features seem unnecessary when everyone has a smartphone. Nonetheless, I'm a HUGE fan of Spektrum, as their radios are pretty much the pinnacle of ergonomics, looks and build quality. Heck, I sold my Taranis because of that...
All of those features are cool, but they should tone it down a bit. I think almost any activity that involves this transmitter, one should not have a set of noise cancelling headphones on. You should be listening to the sound your props/blades/engine makes at all times otherwise you're more disoriented if/when things go bad. You lose a significant observation method if/when things go wrong without sound.

Sgtqman19 funny, I don't see other phone manufacturers slowing their devices down. My Android phone has over 3 years on it, and runs like day one. But it's ok fan boi, keep on buying apple, to each their own 😜
to me this is a game changer can buy a plane and not have to program it .how simple is that for the frsky junkies you will always hate spectrum cause you cant get past a open mind on anything else .just like apple verse android , ps android anyday over apple
First, I’d rather think Spektrum is Apple in this comparison. Expensive gear with less features, restricted functionality. Now they have a transmitter with some features nobody needs (except for crossfire, they finally matched frsky in this department). The dx9 was a great radio for people that wanted to use Spektrum, now they just have a dx9 with 3 extra switches plus a smartphone in there. Makes no sense to me Frsky is still the go to when you want the best performance for your money
Just got a plane from them. P3 micro and it's absolutely rubbish. Couldn't even fly it once before I had to fix all the weak glue points. They still haven't figured out quality control. I have 2 dx5 and a dx6 with bad pots you can't buy. Stay away and by frsky.

You should make a gps to install on the drones, so you can locate your drone or airplane via app

The remote is a 6000 mAh ion. My phone is 3000 ish. The remote has simple USB charging to easily plug in any standard USB charging pack.

No hall effects gimbals! Def a upgrade from a dx9 but I love my taranis.
Pretty awesome but if it was Apple software I would definitely think about giving up my JR12X for it. 😃👍🏼

i thought the biggest issue between the two, besides open source, was rssi/telemetry that was lacking in spektrum.
