Hey, Rob here from Travels with Dottie! This video kicks off my series on Mora, New Mexico-a place that holds a special spot in my heart despite never having lived here. Join me as I share the charm and history of this beautiful agricultural valley nestled in the San Cristo Mountains, with its roots deeply embedded in the ancient paths and the Santa Fe Trail.
In this first video, mostly from the car, we'll explore the main drag of Mora, uncovering local treasures like the Amazon locker and the authentic Mora Market, brimming with local produce. Get a glimpse of the Cleveland Roller Mill, a piece of living history, and the lush, green landscape that’s kept alive by an intricate, centuries-old irrigation system.
Along the way, I'll introduce you to Donna and Sally, my companions for this journey, as we make our way to Teresa’s Tamales in nearby Cleveland for a taste of their famous tamales (even though they were out this time!). From navigating the narrow roads to sharing the warmth of Mora’s community, this video offers a true sense of why this place speaks to me so deeply.
Stay tuned for more as I dive into Mora’s vibrant culture, historical sites, and the welcoming spirit of its people. I hope you feel the connection to this hidden gem as much as I do. Don't forget to subscribe to join me and Dottie on more adventures!
I use a GoPro 10, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3and the Hover X1

Can't believe how green it is. Not sure I'm that taken with what I see of the desert, but that looks nice.

Do you know where the name Mora comes from? I live near a Mora in MN and assumed it was a unique small town name. I am very surprised to hear of another town with the same name on the other end of the country.
