I would love to see a classic land yacht revived but in a way Hoovie describes: a Caprice Classic, Roadmaster, Crown Victoria, Diplomat, you name it. RWD, V8, soft touring suspension for ride quality, and a price point that a common person can go buy! I work with police officers daily, and it’s amazing how many still love the Crown Victoria over the Chargers that have taken their place. They like the power of the 5.7 Hemi but that’s about it. Crown Vics rode better, had more room, and had a way lower cost of ownership for the Sheriff’s Department.
I had a 1989 which I believe had slightly more horsepower than his, and also I prefer the 'updated' interior in the 1989 substantially. I got that car like 13 years ago, it was old lady owned with just over 30k miles, the entire car in mint showroom condition. Unfortunately i didn't own it that long, and it got totaled out by the ins. company after I got into a wreck. That's definitely the most upsetting car loss I've ever experienced, I had a nice stereo in it and everything. But as for the power, it was actually quite good! The hp numbers pretty low, but it had a lot of torque. I've owned 7 american luxury cars between the years 1984 and 1994. An olds, 2 mercury's, and 4 caddy's, including my current 94 fleetwood. Only one I'm still really missing is a town car.
The insurance rates for these cars is dirt cheap. None of them seem to ever get in an accident. So the drivers are better than honda or toyota or subaru drivers .
I hoped “old Hoovie” will come back after the “luxury cars questions”. But didn’t imagine that spectacular comeback. So true words about luxury and comfort.
I'm 24 and I'm from Argentina, so those cars never existed here. But I like Crown Vics, Town Cars, etc.. since I was a kid. Watching movies and having some toys. I think they were pretty cool!. I always liked sedans by the way..
I'm 29, and I bought a 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis Wagon for my 23rd birthday. I had an 84 Caprice Sedan (Grandpa's Car) until 2017. (Someone forced Dad into a pole with it, but he's fine since he wore the belt.*) I'm more of a 20th Century American Wagon guy, but I like Land Yachts in general, too. *The belt was buckled in to the middle, since the driver one was broken.
I really like the Land Yatchs, despite being from Europe, not even Europe, Turkey. A place where 90% of the cars are compacts and subcompacts or city cars. I already own a subcompact diesel 2003 Fiesta and a city car 1999 Ford Ka, these made me a Ford guy, in a different sense compared to Americans. And I still ADORE the land yatchs, i just like the complete opposite side of the spectrum. I'd love to have a plushy comfy big ride from time to time compared to zippy little fun to drive throw around hatchbacks.
Cool video! Nice gifting of the Chrysler! Back when the Roadmaster was new, my boss bought an Impala SS. There was a retired woman that lived across the street from the shop. She bought a Roadmaster and called over to us to come see her new car. She was so proud. My boss about wanted to cry when we opened the hood and saw the same engine as in his 'hot rod'. We broke his balls relentlessly. I miss that guy now. He helped me in many ways.
I love the big American luxury cars have always drove them. But hoovie what you did giving that man the car was great. You set a awesome example of what made americans great.
"I can't figure out a way to make this wheel square! I got me square dials, I got me a square dash, I got me a square body. But the wheel! it's circular! Ruins the whole car!"

That was very kind of you to help Mike out. I also agree, Buick should bring the Roadmaster back and Jeep should re-imagine the Wagoneer.
Probably won’t read this but a 94 roadmaster sedan was my first car about a year ago and me and my best friend picked it up with 99k on dash for 950$ in a Taco Bell parking lot and I’ve never had more fun with a car in my life, it drifted with the bald tires it came with
That is still the most laughable ad campaign in automotive history that I know of although faster than a speeding bullet by Joe Isuzu may have been a close second in terms of the b's factor.
I love the Merc, I love the Fifth Avenue and I really love the Roadmaster..... But I really appreciate and love car people who do stuff like this for good people because they care
Tyler, you’re really hitting your stride in automotive video journalism. Your narrative and delivery is the best among solo TH-camrs, and this video demonstrates this. I think your channel is severely underrated (I’ve worked for TH-cam at Google), but your prestige and quality is not overlooked. I’m currently flying back from Detroit to San Francisco, and I mentioned your channel to several connections who are reimagining the Detroit auto show because of the recent circumstances. I hope you read this and realize you are being noticed at legacy levels of the auto biz. Cheers, Riley - great great grandson of John Simpson Gray
I actually owned a 1988 Chrysler 5th Ave that I bought from a retired detective. Ridiculously comfortable and had a scarily top speed of 160 MPH...... I should have kept it, but when the kids came, I had to upgrade
It is a train horn... Roadmaster sedan got the coveted 4 note horn that they used in Cadillac for years... I need to replace mine several are dead and I keep blowing fuses
The Town Car did take a big hit in the 1998 redesign, interior quality tanked! Still rode pretty nice, though. I did like the earlier 90's one better, it was the last one to properly feel like a tank. The Roadmaster was killed off after 1997 too, and that New Yorker was the last of the big old school Chryslers. Cadillac had moved on after the 1993 DeVille, with the swaths of chrome and wood more or less firmly killed off. The most interesting vestigial land yacht feature, the bench seat, actually lived on and didn't die until 2013 with the Impala. Sadly, though, that bench seat was pretty uncomfortable for number 3, Chevrolet had all but given up on it well before it actually died.
A new Roadmaster wagon would probably start at $40,000, come with all the modern tech that nobody wants, break down due to being newly developed, and would be cancelled after a couple years due to lack of sales even though they never advertised it.

I had a 91. Sure, 150hp, but 270 torques and all the way down at 1400 RPM. These cars never needed HP, just torque.
CAYMAN987 or there's less of them... Toyota sells the most cars in the world lol
Tyler, YOU are the man!
I genuinely laughed out loud when Mike said "I'm taking this with me!" and threw the money at you. :)
I hoped “old Hoovie” will come back after the “luxury cars questions”. But didn’t imagine that spectacular comeback. So true words about luxury and comfort.
Too bad that Chrysler didn't have rich Corinthian leather.
That would be in the Cordova, on the next episode of Hoovie's Garage...

"You're a young man-you like land yachts!" -Tyler "Kids These Days" Hoover
I hate when people who are younger than me say things like that.
"Joey, you ever been in a land yacht before?"
May have been the same engine but it wasn't tuned the same as the one in the Impala SS.
I love the big American luxury cars have always drove them. But hoovie what you did giving that man the car was great. You set a awesome example of what made americans great.
I absolutely lost it when Magic Mike threw the pile of cash at Hoovie 😂
"I can't figure out a way to make this wheel square! I got me square dials, I got me a square dash, I got me a square body. But the wheel! it's circular! Ruins the whole car!"

It's hilarious that this Chrysler is more reliable than a 10 to 20-year newer BMW.
BMW really lost the respect of car enthusiasts in the past year

KΛM Last year? I’d argue bmw last great cars were the e46 and e39. All models after those have been a continued downfall
Hey now.. 😁
What an irony
Longtime viewer, first comment. My daughter was watching this episode with me and asked if you were a nice man. I said, "I think so, yes. He's about the nicest guy on TH-cam." She agreed. That was very kind of you to help Mike out. I also agree, Buick should bring the Roadmaster back and Jeep should re-imagine the Wagoneer.
The money-throw and using it to do something genuinely good was hilarious and sweet at the same time.
Great for Logan and Magic Mike :)
Mr Hoovie, that was a very heartwarming and wholesome ending.
God Bless you and your family.
Giving away that lovely 5th avenue to someone who needed it. What a good guy! I wish the magician and the car well going forward
Probably won’t read this but a 94 roadmaster sedan was my first car about a year ago and me and my best friend picked it up with 99k on dash for 950$ in a Taco Bell parking lot and I’ve never had more fun with a car in my life, it drifted with the bald tires it came with
Just when I think everyone in the world just sucks, then there is Hoovie, and I still have hope.
I love getting a notification for new Hoovie videos. Highlight of my day.
I’d make a joke about you being really sad, but then again I’m here as well, doing the same thing.
Hes so humble. A dreams a dream right now love it. Your a good guy Tyler
I would love to have that 5th Avenue! I had one years ago and it is a very nice and reliable car. 25MPG was easy to do at less than 70.
Three Words: "Fine Corinthian Leather"... we need a Cordoba purchase Hoovie!

Kenny C , yes! ...and Hoovie could do his best Ricardo Montalban impression....
That is still the most laughable ad campaign in automotive history that I know of although faster than a speeding bullet by Joe Isuzu may have been a close second in terms of the b's factor.

This is why you’re my favorite TH-camr. You’re a great person, Tyler. Take care and stay safe.

1 million subs later and he’s still got a big heart. Love this guy!
I actually owned a 1988 Chrysler 5th Ave that I bought from a retired detective. Ridiculously comfortable and had a scarily top speed of 160 MPH...... I should have kept it, but when the kids came, I had to upgrade
I love the horn on the Roadmaster. It sounds like a train horn.
It is a train horn... Roadmaster sedan got the coveted 4 note horn that they used in Cadillac for years... I need to replace mine several are dead and I keep blowing fuses
when horns did sounded good..
S.A.M I Am
I installed the extra two notes on my Roadmaster Wagon. Best car ever
Cadillacs of that era were similarly......horn'y.

Lincoln Town Car: Am I a joke to you?
Yep, the Town Car ruled, I used them in my limo business during the 80's and nothing was better.
The Lincoln Mark 8 also says hi.
yes yes you are now go back to the junkyard. Stupid panther bodies.
I had an 84 towncar. I currently drive a Caddy, Merc and Bimmer and the town car was more luxurious than any of them. I miss it.
I love how you helped your friend, but titled the video something different, so you weren't clickbaiting him
People helping people! We really need more of this right now!! Terrific & heart warming!!!
Thanks for helping a young man out who's down due to circumstances beyond his control!
If they made a Road master wagon today, I'd buy it used in three years.
I would going to make a camping rig out of a minivan before everything happened. I think a Roadmaster Wagon would have more room
A new Roadmaster wagon would probably start at $40,000, come with all the modern tech that nobody wants, break down due to being newly developed, and would be cancelled after a couple years due to lack of sales even though they never advertised it.
“I like this car so much I could see myself buying it used in three years” say that to the salesman lol
They kinda do, its called the Buick Regal TourX
@@matthewbaquero , you mean like Chevy SS? Man, I want one of those so bad. Too bad the caprice cop cars didnt come with a manual (at no extra charge, like SS did).

AHH These cars sure brings back memories for some of us who grew up in the 80s and 90s ! CHEERS ...

Magic Mike makes it rain

I came to Massachusetts in 1999 for a one and a half year stay. In the first week i bought a used black 85 Mercury Grand Marquis to be my daily driver. I did many road trips, down to Florida, up to Canada and all along the east coast. I so loved the comfort of the Grand Marquis. Never a problem with the car. Being from Europe, it was simply wonderful to experience "american luxury". Seeing the Marquis in this video, brought back so many wonderful memories. And for that, i want to thank you!
Now This is why I watch Hoovies! That was so very cool to give away a Chrysler. Please keep up the good work. This is why more people should subscribe! Thanks.
Yet another reason you’re my favorite you tuber Hoovie. Just a genuinely good dude. Not doing it just for views like some others out there.
I blame Breaking Bad for seeing that New Yorker and my first thought was “Miiiiike!”
Now the whole video gives me Breaking Bad vibes
It's a 5th avenue not a new yorker. But yeah, totally. You should watch Better Call Saul, Mike's in that one a lot, and I'm pretty sure he drives that car.

@@JimmyGambiniEsquire yes they were always the inferior luxury car, but still comfortable. My family had an '87 Olds 98 Regency and my friends family had an 80s 5th ave. The olds 98 was way better in every way, significantly more backseat room too. 3800 series 2 v6. That car became my first car i had it for a couple years. Very reliable and plenty of power. But front wheel drive. My friends and i did crazy things in that car, good memories. Ultimately the harmonic balancer went out at around 185-190k miles and it wasn't worth it to fix at the time so that was the end.

I’m not sure what it is, but I’m getting the feeling Hoovie doesn’t care for automotive journalists...
Neither do....ugdemiro...... I.
No one likes automotive journalists these days, they've destroyed at least several car segments with their standardised criteria and are basically shills for manufacturers since they get vacations and perks from manufacturers in exchange for continued good press.
