I am a 47-year-old women who has mainly done lightweight backpacking throughout the years. I am thinking of how I can enjoy the outdoors and save my knees a little throughout the season. Bikepacking seems like an exciting option. I don't know anyone who does it, but watching this video was very inspiring! This little overnight seems so accessible to me! Thanks for creating it!
Please let me know if you do use this route for an adventure! I'd love to hear about your ride/camping trip. Let me know on here or leave a comment on the Ride With GPS Route!
Hello from Finland. Loved the cinematic style of your video and how you give room to the surroundings and the places you ride. Would love to see more. And your bike setup looks superb.
I follow you on IG and this was my first TH-cam vid from you. Your “commercial” worked! I’ve never considered bike packing, but this was so artistic, compelling, inspiring. Well done! More of this and maybe a bike packing for noobs vid soon?
The just because I wanted to routes usually turn out to be the most interesting for me. This looks like a really fun route too. Thanks for bringing us along.
Great job editing this video. Looks like a great bike camping area. Your bags and racks look great. You have your gear dialed for bike camping. Inspiring.
I have ridden Sycamore for over 20 years...but have not been riding there for over 25 years.....but I just got a Mt Bike after not riding for 20+ years...and this one has batteries! I'm gonna go back to Thousand Oaks next month and hope to get a chance to ride here and check out the changes. Thanks Trent! I did not see you climbing Hell Hill though....
I was just looking up Rene Herse’ tires for my new gravel bike. I haven’t gone bike camping but really enjoyed watching this video and now I’m curious about trying. Although my initial goals were to just to multi day long distance rides staying at motels. Totally not the same thing.
I've seen that called "credit card touring"! I'd love to do that someday too. I do love some AC/Heat, shower, and a comfy bed! When camping, I feel a sense of vulnerability that I don't get when traveling by car or staying in hotels. It's good for me to shake it up and make me appreciate the comforts of everyday life even more.
I can’t imagine how much water there is right now. It’s been quite awhile since I’ve down Sycamore up to Newbury. I got some ideas for an upcoming bikepacking trip. Love the content!
This was the Old Man Mountain rack! I used an axle fit kit that matched with my bike- they have fit kits that will fit nearly ANY bike on their website!
It’s hardly ever used, I would usually be the only one there. Sometimes there’d be one other person. CA State Parks doesn’t have a no turn policy, but I’m sure they’d get you setup if it were full.
@@TrentSiggard Then learn the laws of the state in which you live, Trent, because California defines bicycles to be vehicles. The sign you ignored was on CSUCI land, not in Sycamore Canyon. You are doing a marvelous job of giving cyclists a bad name, which is what got mountain biking banned in the La Jolla Canyon area.

But he was breaking a traffic law 🥴 In the Marine Corps we call it "Improvising, Adapting, and Overcoming". Great video! 👍🏻
Sick shots!
Nice video Nice bike setup
cool video; some familiar sites along the Oxnard plain and PCH. Sycamore Canyon / Pt. Mugu State Park is where I go mountain biking.

Really great visuals. I remember that climb out back to the valley

It's been amazing to see it go from bone dry to flowing water over the last 2 years! There should still be water now!
Well done! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video Trent ! 😃👍
I live at the top of Sycamore Canyon and love overnighting at the beach!!
Best overnighter there is!! Have you tried going down Potrero and making it a loop?!
@@TrentSiggard I haven’t yet but that sounds like a great idea!
I love this! Great work!
Neat . You seem very genuine. Subscribed

Yeah great video !!

Nice video! What rack model is that and which fit kit did you use? thanks!

Sickkkkk 😊

🇵🇱🤙
Looking to do a bikepacking test ride here on a Saturday. Do the H/B sites get taken quickly? Do they turn people away if it's full?

Let me know how you like the route!
Hike and bike sites? Never knew this was a thing….
anyone knows a spot like this near long beach or paloes verdes area? My friend once told me about somewhere in San pedro?
What part of "state vehicles only beyond this point" did you not understand?
A bike is not a vehicle. Parks service vehicles only in sycamore canyon :)

I'm down to join!
Once I settle on a same I'm hoping to start hosting rides throughout the year!
I'll be riding from OC to Santa Barbara if you want to come along! whats your IG?
That would be awesome! I'm not currently in California, but I've always wanted to do SB to LA, OC or SD!
