In The Odyssey, his wife actually held off on taking a suitor for as long as she could and created an impossible task for the suitors - the one who could string and fire Odysseus’ bow through 12 axe handles would be her new husband. Odysseus comes back just in time to complete this task, then he kills all of the suitors since they took advantage of his absence and basically ate drank and used all of his stuff and harassed his wife.

I don't remember any real life cases of someone getting lost on a hot air balloon, but there was a segment on the Amanda Show called Moody's Point. Her mom in the segment was lost on a hot air balloon, and it's used as a big dramatic point for the segment.

The balloon went over restricted military facilities containing our nuclear ordinance as well as our missile silos. The balloon is said to have ground penetrating sonar that allows them to see the layout of said silos and bases that are hidden underground.
What I always find funny is we went from one group of people going “Oh my god, read another book” when people mention to Harry Potter to now people fighting on a hill to defend it.

Grendel was the son of the king before Beowulf, as the old king did the same with her.

I already said this under another Charlie's video but i feel like it's worth saying it again here.
I'm no military expert, but there are reasons for the balloon not to be shot down.
The balloon was sent most likely because they wanted to test the defence system.
Just like they do with jets over Taiwan, to see if there are spots where they don't get detected or get detected too late. They are probably testing similar thing in the US with this air balloon, to see if there are any blind spots and also to see who and what kind of air defence will be used.
Another option is that it wasn't shot down right away 1) as already stated because of the debris field 2) but more importantly, as Kaya said, but disregarded as Redditor defence, the US military probably wanted to see, what china wants to find out. Since it went over Fort Bragg and the nuclear silo in Montana. So the US probably, wanted to see what military sites interest China.
To put it simply US and China seem to have a very kinky relationship, with some teasing and ball busting going on.

Charlie… you were like 18-19 in 2012-2013 when you said you were playing the FF games for the first time. That’s PRIME nostalgia age. Of COURSE you like those games, regardless of how similar they are to games you don’t like these days. People just need to learn to accept these things - we aren’t some hard, strict characterization of likes and dislikes. Those likes and dislikes change over the years even though you may think they don’t, they absolutely do. You liked that kind of game back then, grew up with them, and love them. If Hogwarts was the game you played back then, you’d love it just as much now and defend it just the same. Just because you like a few games from your early adulthood that we’re dialogue heavy does not mean that you should be an “example” of “oh well if they did the dialogue better I’d like it”; no. Your tastes have changed, but the games you grew up with haven’t but we still love those games regardless because we grew up with them. They are the exception, not the rule.

If it is actually Chinese aircraft, my guess is they're testing the ability of drone paths, seeing just how much we could detect if they flew them in small droves and snuck them through US borders, and they've found that these aircraft are suitable for whatever reason to simulate what they're trying to sneak through.
