I've had my 68 Camaro 396 for almost 30 years still puts a smile on my face you got me thinking about the Holley kit after watching this, great video keep them coming
I'm interested in fuel injection for mine. My only concern is reliability. I don't want it to fail while I'm miles from home. I can still fix my Holley in the ditch, but not EFI if I don't have a fortune in spare parts with me..
Stretch those springs a little bit by hand and it will loosen up your gas pedal and won’t be as stiff. You always wanna run two springs though just incase one breaks, it will stick it wide open.
Think I'll try the spring stretching tip on my Nova that you mentioned. Got 2 springs on mine as well but it seems kind of jumpy when I first take off since the pedal requires extra effort.
I had a spring break on my '69 big block Camaro as I was giving my neighbor a ride. Thank God we were on a country road instead of in a populated area. I had to powershift into 2nd gear before I could reach my foot under the pedal to unstick it. It was a scary ride. Always double your return springs!
My 67 Camaro RS/Ss is sitting in the garage, I live in Southern Ontario and we’re surrounded by snow, this video makes me want to drive it so bad. Beautiful car by the way, mine is Sierra Fawn, LA car, 4 spd, I can’t wait till spring.
It shits and gets now damn !!!! Not only you can tell it goes a lot better now judging by that one car on the highway must have been going at least 70 and you was pulling way ahead on it when he was getting on it real quick !! Would love to ride in one day..lol awesome job guys 💯🤙
If you don't like how touchy the pedal is, look into a progressive throttle linkage for the sniper. It's a small piece that you insert near the throttle cable that opens the first two butterflies of the carb first and then the back ones as you give it more throttle. EDIT: Following up on this and leaving a comment for others to see. I'm working on getting a tune for my Holley Sniper and mentioned the progressive linkage to the tuner. They sent me back a long write up about how they don't recommend the progressive linkage, as it results in the loss of low end power. Holley has put out a throttle extension that makes driveability better without sacrificing low end performance. Sniper Throttle Extension, PN 20-16
Cool upgrade! Love the throttle response! I ran a steel gear on a steel mechanical roller cam for 5000 miles! Mostly street and some strip use….very little if any wear …maybe polished where the gears were meshed! I didn’t want to constantly check a bronze gear for wear!
That's so awesome, glad to see the Camaro brought up to more modern times and that it was such a worthwhile upgrade. Excited to see the new dyno numbers on it
Wow, JD! The Holley kit brought that 502 to life! Huge difference... sounds so healthy now. My favorite pull was around 9:44 or so.👌 Dude, you were grinnin' the whole time so I know you're excited to finally have that beast running like it should. Damn good show... reminds me of the old Joyride videos. Y'all have a good evening, bud.👍
The car is really badass. Needs wheelie bars. The old school ones. The bottom section is flat like a leaf spring, and the upper is tubular with about a 6 inch spring section at the wheel end. Very cool.
get the throttle extension to fix the stiff throttle. may wanna toss an extra wind on the secondary while you're at it. they'll start sticking later and holding idle high.
Your right I could have got it tuned but with the Holley EFI it’s self tuning and learning all the time at different temperatures, rpm’s and speeds. A tuner would have it running perfectly for that day then we get a cold day or I take the car on a trip to the beach with different elevations the car won’t run the same but the Holley is always learning and self tuning.
Sounds awesome. My son wants to go this route with his 68 also. He was given a 68 to him from his uncle for his 16th birthday. Car hasn't been driven in 10 years it's his second year having it still working the bugs out. We aren't too far from you would love to see the car and some insight on the install.
@JD JoyrideTV we aren't too far from you. We are in midland va. I've seen you around manassas also when you were heading to Chris shop. I've know Chris for a bit he did work on my son's mustang. He also gave me a baseline on my 16 ss.
Damn, the last year or so I've finally begun to think I should switch over....then I find THIS video....Sold ! Now I just have to come up with the money .....
From what I've seen on Dyno runs that sniper may be good for cruising around the street going and grabbing groceries but look at the size of your tires tucked under that Camaro you got yourself a drag car you need a big 1050 dominator carb on that thing
Hello, Question: On the 1968 CAMARO the pulse width at idle is running about 2.56ms, have you noticed what the pulse width goes to when you open up the throttle?? maybe a Max Min value??
What did you use as your initial timing settings? I have a 69 Camaro with a 502 that I’m getting ready to put a Holley sniper and hyper spark in. Trying to figure out what to use as the initial, wot, and cruise timing to start off with? GMs recommendations for timing for the 502 seem tame.
I would put some street wheels on in or more street friendly modern wheel like a 17or 18 on the back with a fat et street ss or something like that with a 19 or 20 on the front
Well, Snipers are neet....but If you buy a good carb, AND pay for properly tuning it equals out.... From experience, I suggest to Not sell you carb stuff right away...keep it for a minimum of 3 years...in my experience, 3-5 years is the average Sniper life span
For you purist and old timers out there, just do it!!! Why f*ck with carbs and non starting choke situations..Here you have the reliability of a modern day car that you don't have to f*ck with...I caught hell with my Oldsmobile club because I did this conversion on my 1970 olds-442-w-30 conv with original 60k miles..Not only that to piss them off even more, I LS swapped it with a brand new GOLEN built engine producing 600-HP!!!So the way i see it, we buy these car's to drive, not to look at....MAGA!!!!
I’m a Ford guy but this rocks! Don’t forget you have family to take care of 😅 Much appreciated!
I've had my 68 Camaro 396 for almost 30 years still puts a smile on my face you got me thinking about the Holley kit after watching this, great video keep them coming
Same for my 67, I have a Street Demon on it now, I love it but it has its issues, I think I’ll give fuel injection a go.
I'm interested in fuel injection for mine. My only concern is reliability. I don't want it to fail while I'm miles from home. I can still fix my Holley in the ditch, but not EFI if I don't have a fortune in spare parts with me..
So happy to see this car running like it should. Can’t wait for warmer weather to see more of it!
There is no better sound than old school muscle! It was awesome to see some car content again!
I got that holly setup on a 396 and ooooo boy 👍🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿

Finally sounding proper, congrats man!
Hello guys from down under🙃
Sounds sweet and pulls hard, very very nice from Australia 😎
Awesome the 68 Camaro is my favorite car out of all of them glad to see its going well
Holley sells a throttle extension for the holley efi, it supposedly makes the throttle not so snappy off of a launch
It shits and gets now damn !!!! Not only you can tell it goes a lot better now judging by that one car on the highway must have been going at least 70 and you was pulling way ahead on it when he was getting on it real quick !! Would love to ride in one day..lol awesome job guys 💯🤙
Yeah that was the interstate with the speed limit of 70mph and you know everyone is doing a little over and we were moving from that dig
You guys SOLD me, going to get that setup and put it in my 72 Skylark you see in the pic to the left!

Don’t over complicate it. Stretch the springs a little by hand and it won’t be as stiff or “touchy”
was just about to comment and say NOOOO don't do progressive lol.. get the extension, then i saw the edit.
Cool upgrade! Love the throttle response!

The white letter tires look fantastic.

Always fun getting back into the car making some old fashion joyride style vlogs
Need to change out that little bar on the TBI that opens up the secondary, it’ll make it allot more street friendly. Less touchy.
The car is really badass. Needs wheelie bars. The old school ones. The bottom section is flat like a leaf spring, and the upper is tubular with about a 6 inch spring section at the wheel end. Very cool.

Do it! Just do it
JUST DO IT BRO!!! NO LOOKING BACK..
No better feeling when your ride runs they way it should. Now onto making it stop as well as it goes.
We definitely need to make it stop better.
Love it !!! I got one for my '81 Camaro.
Glad to see the Camaro up and running again can't wait to see the dino on it run side by side with the mustang see which ones got it
You could have got the carb tuned correctly and saved a pile of money! I have dual Holley 650's on my 427 Windsor and it runs fine.
Night and day difference now bro...that car is running good ! Holley is the best !!!
No doubt
dang thing sounds sick now

Hello, Question: On the 1968 CAMARO the pulse width at idle is running about 2.56ms, have you noticed what the pulse width goes to when you open up the throttle?? maybe a Max Min value??
I’m not running my inner return spring on my sniper, only the outer, it has a substantial return spring of it’s own
Power steering, power brakes and A/C ? Do you want a daily driver or drag car?
I want the best of both worlds
Holy cow....more like Holley Cow!
Much agreed lol
Hahaha yeah that sums it up.
Sounds good! What was all needed for the holley efi installation?
I want to put one on my c10 I wish they wasn't so expensive
Sweet ride light them up
I've been on a few butthole pucker rides myself! Lmao!

automatic transmission? or manual?
4-wheel disc brakes is the only way to go with these late model Camaros
Full throttle on that thing gives me adrenaline and I'm not even sitting in it
She’s mean.
Sweet car
Sounds good! You gonna run it? I've got a 74 GTO that would make for an interesting race.
Hyd roller cams needs a bronze gear. Maybe a cam swap an new valve springs will help alil more

Great video!! Any video is instantly better when someone says," it made my butthole pucker". Yes haw!!!
How do you like it now a year+++ later?
Ur supposed to wait for the pump and efi to squirt “prime” takes like 4 seconds
Nice Camaro
Only a 502? I really figured you for an all out 572 guy.
I think it's safe to say the Camaro is now more gooder.
YES! 😂
Change those bronze gear every year for safety purposes.

I would put some street wheels on in or more street friendly modern wheel like a 17or 18 on the back with a fat et street ss or something like that with a 19 or 20 on the front
I’m not a fan of that big ass wheel on the back way to many like that and ur not gonna make that kind of power for them
That would be gay as fuk it’s not a Honda
