    I went to a custom bike shop that does a lot of slammed rides. He told me to get a hard measurement take them apart and then do what you did but he gave me some pipe to add in as the spacers and cut them until it was as low as I wanted it. Your bike is getting better every time you show it.

    Looks killer. Well done. FYI I had 422s and was running it lowered 2". Stock rear wheel. Had a girl on the back. Made a turn at night and didn't see a dip in the road. Low speed. CLANK. Bottomed out and dinged the primary. Went to SAS air ride on the rear. 2 years. 1100 bux on ebay. No issues and rides way better than the 422s. I check the swing arm bolts every time I change the oil though.

    So J.E.T.
    When I add the progressive monotone lower kit...
    1. put the 3 "C" rings.
    2. Add the 1" spring
    3. Add the 2" spring
    4. Insert the monotube in the fork and tighten.
    ...Correct?

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL
      @JETFILMCHANNEL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, exactly. However, like I did it in the film, I wouldn't have all 3 spacers against each other. I'm pretty sure I did 1 spacer on one side of the spring and 2 on the other. ( to avoid a spacer collapsing or shifting due to the "C" opening).
      Kind of like how you wouldn't want to have piston ring seams lined up with each other.
      6 months riding like this and it hasn't given me any issues.

    How many spacer tabs did you use? If it's 4 for a 1 inch drop and 2 for A 2 inch drop what would no tabs be or do I have it backwards? Is it the lower Springs that do the lowering?

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL
      @JETFILMCHANNEL  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let's say that all upper fork sliders are the same length, the factor that will determine the ride height will be the amount of spacing you add to the damper rod. That spacing will limit the upper slider's movement upward to the height that will be allowed by your spacing. It's difficult to explain it without a "cutaway". In short, more spacing at the damper rod = more drop. But compression and rebound start to become an issue when you get too extreme.

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL

      For the fork I'm using the progressive monotubes. Very robust, and definitely better than stock suspension. The larger fork sliders are not necessary, I did that to completely cover the mid-fork hump which I couldn't stand to look at. I think they're made by drag specialities, just do a Google search for fork sliders 2"+

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL
      @JETFILMCHANNEL  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ugh, that's a bummer. Did you use a fender riser when you mounted your 21"? I get a lot of questions about that, they're unnecessary for a 21" and only add risk to denting the fender.
      Fortunately there's an easy fix with bump stop disks. Dirty Air sells them, they just sit on top of your lower fork leg and prevent anything from touching.
      I continued to run the +2" slider covers even when I lowered it 2.5" without anything touching.
      But I definitely recommend those bump stops, they're cheap, and you'll never have to worry again

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL

      They're progressive monotube shocks installed in the forks. The forks tubes aren't stock, but they're the same configuration as stock and no altering of the fork tubes is needed for this.
      In reality the only thing I did was add more C clips and use different fork oil. But it took about 6 weeks to figure it out and test it before I made the film.

    How have you found the handling since adding in the spacers? Are you getting more scrapes on your boards abd pipes?

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL
      @JETFILMCHANNEL  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oddly, it's slightly less pipe scraping but my floorboards do get closer to touching more often.
      Simply, if the front goes down the back comes up. Think of it like weight in a row boat.
      But the pipes stick way out so any change will be magnified. In this case the front went down about 1/2-3/4 of an inch, that could translate into a full inch at the exhaust tips.
      I should have measured for the video to show the difference.

    • @jamesgibson5876

      @@JETFILMCHANNEL wrong.. if you lower the front say one inch and it's say 6 feet to the rear axle you would have to have some thing that runs out 6 feet behind the rear axle to have a 1 inch rise .
      ... the rear axle would be your pivot point.. a see saw is the example you were looking for .. .. but you have the magnification part backwards.. . How ever . Yes if your exhaust runs out past the rear axle .. it would get a slight lift by lower the front .. .. half inch on the forks mabe.. eighth inch rise on the exhaust tip

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL
      @JETFILMCHANNEL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's impossible to say because I altered the suspension. And I didn't test different kinds of oils with the new suspension. Maybe I can try that in the spring, I might be able to get away with 15w.
      But with less travel, the only reasonable solution would be to thicken the dampening oil.

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL

    • @jamesgibson5876
      @jamesgibson5876 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do realize that any time you have a pivot point between a driven wheel and a drive wheel there will be a tension change on the belt or chain as the suspension loads and unloads right ? Also if you are running a chain ...chains stretch ..and they don't stretch evenly ..meaning it will be tighter in some spots than others.. the proper way to adjust with chain drive is to lift the rear wheel off the g r ound .. rotate the wheel and find the tightest spot .. then ou the bike back on the ground and put anticipated load on the bike so the suspension is loaded... now adjust the chain slack ..

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL
      @JETFILMCHANNEL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Excellent question, and I did talk about that but for some reason I cut that part out (probably to keep the video from being an hour long)
      In short, it will NOT touch. I tried bottoming it out before I took it for a ride, and then while riding I tried to bottom it out which I believe I did, then checked the bottoms of the cans and the fender supports and there weren't any marks to suggest it made any contact. Ill see if I can get a measured answer for you by bottoming it out with some ratchet straps.
