Who painted him as the anti-hero to Fed & Rafa? Last time I checked, this was an entire 60-minutes segment devoted to the great Novak Djokovic where, amongst many other things, they touch upon the fact that he is not, by his own admission, as popular as Fed & Rafa. But that's the audience's choice and it clearly didn't stop him from becoming the most accomplished tennis player, and arguably athlete, ever. Oh, and it ain't over yet.

      U can’t please everyone.
If u’re true to urself and never stop being urself, a lot of ppl’s gonna hate u - simply bcuz u’re not like them.

Muhammad Ali was first to do it, refusing to be drafted for the Vietnam war because he declared that Vietnamese people from thousands of miles away are not his enemy. They did nothing wrong to him. His true enemy is the white american government and their oppressive policies against him. He'd rather fight them here at home than go overseas to fight innocent people for politicians' esoteric greed.
He was arrested, an all-white jury in texas convicted him of felony for refusing to go delete innocent south east asians. The government took away his heavy weight boxing titles and banned him from the sport. Almost 4 years in (when common sense finally prevailed) he was allowed to compete once again. Within a year, he regained all his titles and became number one again. That's the GOAT sportsman and beacon of standing up for principles and human rights. Not the fake rights given by the government but the moral common sense by God

This is my theory as to why the media says he’s “hated” when in fact he is truly loved and admired by many and respected by all: when Novak came along the 2 most popular players (Roger and Rafa) in the sport had already established themselves at the top of the rankings and were winning most of the slams, regularly beating Novak along the way! Novak took his professionalism, his fitness, and diet along with his mental strength to the next level in 2011 and began beating people’s favorite/most popular players, as a result he was a villain of sorts because the third wheel was no longer a friendly foe taking losses and was now dominating and threatening their records and positions in tennis history as potentially the greatest ever! Novak himself is an absolutely lovely person, kind, looking out for his fellow players with the player’s association, a philanthropic person, always embracing his opponents with a hug even after tough losses, applauding great shots during close, tough matches, and has an incredible intelligence and sense of humor as evidenced by his interviews and press conferences! He is well-spoken and articulate in many languages, and he is passionate about the game he plays and loves! I personally think another reason Novak gets haters is because he speaking his truth and standing up for his beliefs (like with the vaccines) instead of constantly being PC and saying what people in the media want him to say! He’s truly authentic and I respect and love him for who is is as a person and a player! Roger was my favorite player from a technique standpoint but Novak is without a doubt the greatest player of all time and he is also my favorite for all the unmatched smarts, dedication and discipline he puts into his life to be successful!

I would like to commend the interviewer too. He was respectful, mild-mannered, he asked difficult questions in a decent, polite way. He was trying to understand Novak and correctly convey to the viewers Novak's career, character and play, and not achieve higher viewer rates through blowing things out of proportion and cheap stunts such as provocation and senseless confrontation. The interviewer seems like a genuinely good human being.

He's the greatest European athlete of all time, at the moment (And he's definitely in the conversation for greatest athlete ever) and he's also very human. He normalizes common feelings like fear, nervousness instead of going into the euphemistic ''no doubts, no fear'' which in turn is a more positive way of seeing it because if you validate these feelings then it's much easier to counter them. Now that's inspirational!

I’m so glad you got to see the real Novak. The media has chosen to overshadow his humanity with his faults, as though he’s the only imperfect human. One of the French players, I can’t remember now if it was Chardy or someone else said the press magnifies everything Novak does wrong while sweeping the faults of others under the rug. They made a bad guy image for their headlines, the public bought it, and they have unfortunately loved to hate him. That means clicks on negative headlines about him which only fuels the media to continue with the negative headlines. Ben Rothenberg, former NYT tennis journalist built his entire career on it.

I've always been a fan of players that have a great return of serve ( Agassi, Hewitt, and now Novak) as that was my forte.
But many years ago when I first saw Novak doing hilarious impressions of other players I knew this guy was extra special.
Over the years my admiration has grown due to all the numerous things he stands for and the intelligence and dedication it takes to speak fluently so many languages while working out to beat back all the contenders.
My only question would be - Where does he ever find time to sleep.
He is the GOAT in tennis, but on those rare occasions when he loses, you see always how extremely gracious he is in defeat and how sincere his congratulatory remarks are to his opponent. truly one of a kind.

Not to mention his efforts towards boosting the prize pools for lower ranked players who struggle to make ends meet, as well as his endeavors of offering humanitarian aid to people in worse circumstances.

Amazing & the best on all levels. A good amount of people wonder why he isn't liked as much as the Fedal combination and besides taking grand slams away from them, he always does his own thing especially when it comes to the vaccine situation or the raw emotions on the court he sometimes displays - not being afraid to take it to the local crowds if he has to, ripping his shirt, getting upset, etc. If you think about it, ever since humans were around on this earth, if you go against the accepted, popular opinion in anything, the masses will not like you even if you're 100% right. It's just a fact of life. He's not trying to be a human golden retriever and what makes him all the more appealing to watch and respect.
