  • Plowing, Digging, Inverting and turning the peanuts upside down. Before we harvest the peanuts we first have to get them out of the ground. Also Nematodes working on the cotton crop. Epic NEMATODE rap at the end.

    Grew up on a Peanut Farm in NC and this vid I swear I could smell the dirt! I sure do miss it, I live in MX now so we only have Pineapples and Agave. My wife is from up ear you though Alligator Point FL. Love the vids keep it up.

    I guess buying a peanut plow for my 200 foot row of peanuts here in PA wouldn’t be cost effective! Loved the video.

      Garden Spot Acres yeah that would be a little over kill, however if you could find an old 2 row kmc plow you would be set.

    We called that verticillium wilt when I was growing cotton in Central California. The plant would just up and die at the end of the growing season.

    I buy my neanuts from Lowrey farms near Jay Fl . Every year boilled peanuts has made my Grandaughter. Smart enough to become a Dentist . We love then also .

    Just found your channel. Reminds me of when I was a kid here in North Texas. There were peanuts everywhere then. I can taste those green peanuts and smell that dirt. Keep it up.

    Intro with you sleep had me rolling lol digging p nuts will definitely put you to sleep as slow as you have to go lol we just finished harvesting corn today and wont start digging for another 2 weeks! That GPS is definitely great for digging I know! Good stuff!

    Farmers always scratch there nuts 😂 I was going to ask if y’all bale the vines, but after seeing the white mold,,,, which that’s the first time I have ever seen it. I’d say negative. But cows LOVE peanut vines. We bale ours, and the cows will eat them before they will eat alfalfa.

    I was really surprised that you irrigate. I thought Florida got way more rain than to require irrigation. As a kid my family irrigated in Idaho, but there you only get about 10 inches of rain annually - Florida is much more isn't it?

      Oh yeah we get way more than 10inches. Out soil is so sandy the rain fall we do get drys up way to quick.

    Though I farmed in the Central Valley of california, [tried to make it small print as those whom try to run this state]. To see the prep to peanut harvest is a new vision to me. Is there a blade that goes below the roots to loosen soil, or are they directly pulled up?

    I'm eating peanut trail mix while watching this video. Any idea what your peanuts get used for after selling them? Does one of the major peanut butter companies buy them?

      A lot is used for JIF peanut butter and random candy companies.

    Let ‘er eat boys! We got about 150 acres on top the ground. Seems everyone does things different, we run 3.6 mph and run blades till their tips are rounded and won’t take the ground. Got 70 acres on one set now.

      Nice. My dad is a stickler about changing blades. When he has to start dropping the plow down we change them. Usually around 30. What blades do you run kmc

      Field Rows Makes sense since y’all resharpen them and seems to work good. We will even re-square the tips with a torch and run hard-rodded blades when ground gets too hard.

    Do you have drainage piping under them cotton fields? Watching the drone footage it seemed to run center out from the dry patch and definitely in a very straight direction.

      Yeah it’s not fun, but nothing works better than telone. We have tried other products but can’t get the same results we do with the real stuff

    Here in oaxaca mexico l harvest peanuts too . very small fields. Last year l picked 2.6 tons/h. With a lilliston 6000.

      There is a gas called Tellone you can put out before plant that works but it is very expensive.

Thankfully prices are coming up. We grow corn beans wheat and sorghum mostly. We grow cotton and peanuts, but haven’t in past few years. We also have a farmers market store on farm and grow a lot of produce.

      @@FieldRows Ahh I see. Im from South Africa so all the brands are imported and all parts are hard to get. Colombo is more popular here I think because they have smaller machines and use metric parts, so you can just swap it out with cheaper generic ones if available

    First time this "Northerner" ever seen peanuts OR cotton even farmed let alone harvested. Here in Washington state the only peanuts I've seen are already processed and in a jar. And the cotton?? That's in my jeans and t-shirts!! Anyway you learn something new everyday so THANKS for bringing another interesting niche in American farming for us all to check out!!

      If you ever get a chance to road trip through the south during cotton harvest, you'll be amazed at all the cotton floating around small towns, it's everywhere.
