This is a Squarepusher epic. It starts off quiet, but don't be mislead. The track is Tetra-sync from Ultravisitor. This was filmed in 2005 at Koko, in Camden, London.
I actually did get to see him perform it live, totally unexpectedly. Saw him at a club in Sheffield way back in 2004 right after Ultravisitor came out, and he did an extended live version of Tetra Sync that made me a fan for life. There were only maybe 100 people in this club, tops, and I just stood like ten feet away from him and watched him utterly shred on this bass in a way I’d never seen before or since.
thank you so much for posting this, goosebumps ahoy. saw him play ultravisitor all the way through in the middle of some woods (glade stage) at glastonbury in 2004, been to hundreds of gigs and that one will always be pinnacle for me. this was my favourite track off the album
So ahead of his time, there's so many styles colliding here in the most beautiful way, Squarepusher is one of the few artists truly pushing music forward into unchartered territory. We'll never know what direction Miles Davis would have taken his music in this time period had he still been active, but I bet it wouldn't be that far removed from this.
i was there and this show was total carnage. crowd were well up for it, squarepusher was on fine heckling form calling us al cunts from time to time. i honestly don't remember much of it because i was twatted. but i know it was fucking awesome !
Okay so I used to be a bassist in a shitey rock band, and I always knew of 'Come On My Selector'. But this is the first time I checked out Squarepusher 'live'. And oh my fucking god.
I would sell my soul to see Tetra-Sync live just once.
I'd go crazy, such an awesome. I'd explode.
