This song sums up one of the worst days of my life at age 7. My dad left me and scarcely called for years. He pulled me in a pitch black room and told me in tears he had to leave. All i could do was cry. I think he made sure the room was dark so i couldnt see him cry. Now the tides have turned and we talk everyday so FTW. Thankyou skid row for this song, it helps me heal a 34 year old wound. And thankyou to the maker of this video too. I forgive you dad for you knew not what you were doing.
May all the survivors of childhood trauma and abuse feel safe again... love again... trust again....and know that you never deserved what you went through.
Could be about forbidden love that is too strong to fight off, and brings pain but it's so deep and beautiful that can't be stopped, and one is dreaming about reaching the moment in time where there be light in a darkend room .. That's how I see it and that matches my story... I know it can be completely different to whoever wrote it... still beautiful
Fuck he was a monster back then. Powerful voice. He still has a pretty strong voice for pushing the limits back in the day. This album was by far the best vocal album for its time.
Man, I used to listen to this song so many times back in around 2014, almost every morning, eating my morning biscuits before leaving for uni, waiting to get home and watch Supernatural. Sweet memories :)
In a darkened room Beyond the reach of God's faith Lies the wounded, the shattered remains of love betrayed And the innocense of a child is bought and sold In the name of the damned The rage of the angels left silent and cold Forgive me please for I know not what I do How can I keep inside the hurt I know is true Tell me when the kiss of love becomes a lie That bears the scar of sin too deep To hide behind this fear of running unto you Please let there be light In a darkened room All the precious times have been put to rest again And the smile of the dawn Brings tainted lust singing my requiem Can I face the day when I'm tortured in my trust And watch it crystalize While my salvation crumples to dust Why can't I steer the ship before it hits the storm I've fallen to the sea but still I swim for shore Tell me when the kiss of love becomes a lie That bears the scar of sin too deep To hide behind this fear of running unto you Please let there be light In a darkened room
I remember reading the lyrics when I got the Slave To The Grind album on cassette tape as a Christmas present at the factory I was working at at the time
Always wondered what it's about .. Could be about forbidden love that is too strong to fight off, and brings pain but it's so deep and beautiful that can't be stopped, and one is dreaming about reaching the moment in time where there be light in a darkend room .. That's how I see it and that matches my story... I know it can be completely different to whoever wrote it... still painfully beautiful
I saw Sebastian on an interview and he said that he wrote this to his grandmother. That he was very close to and wrote it to her before she passed away. It was about his shame of things he did in the past, shame of not seeing her as much as he could have. And now knowing she was going to pass , The fear of facing her...
It's simple people. The song is about Child/sexual abuse. It does really happen a lot in darkened rooms.(the abuser doesn't want to be seen) It's not about full on rape or Christian's in churches molesting kids like some of the comments here. It's about child/sexual abuse IN GENERAL.
Gostava pra caralho do sebastian ..me lembro da infancia ...moleque no colegio hipolito...uma mina da hora que eu gostava...ass professore carlos alberto de rosa figlio di martii Ares grego di napoli no brasil ..😢 josely❤❤❤
Sad,sad song. This is about child trafficking, and in the early 90s, child trafficking was not in the mainstream media like it should've been, but it's sadly been going on for years. It's more relivant today more than ever. The only silver lining in this tune is that these beautiful, innocent children, after shattered lives had only good to hold onto so it's about the children finding a safe place in their minds to run to while these horrible things were happening to them...please let there be light...in a darkened room!!
...SONG OF THE DAY!!!
That's because Sebastian Bach had the ability to channel God's angels when he sang. For a few years. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away just to show who's Boss.
Wow I was only 13 years old when I made this video
Im 20 now :)
I was 17 when this song came out. Crap I’m old

Do u think this is a good funeral song?
Plenty. You just got to hunt for it.
May all the survivors of childhood trauma and abuse feel safe again... love again... trust again....and know that you never deserved what you went through.
I still have goose·bumps everytime that I hear that amazing voice and the superb guitar work.
That scream at the end is haunting. In 91 no vocalist can touch Bach.

I've wondered about the back story of this song. Anyone know

In a darkened room
Beyond the reach of God's faith
Lies the wounded, the shattered
remains of love betrayed
And the innocense of a child is bought
and sold
In the name of the damned
The rage of the angels left silent
and cold
Forgive me please for I know not
what I do
How can I keep inside the hurt
I know is true
Tell me when the kiss of love
becomes a lie
That bears the scar of sin too deep
To hide behind this fear of running
unto you
Please let there be light
In a darkened room
All the precious times have been put
to rest again
And the smile of the dawn
Brings tainted lust singing my requiem
Can I face the day when I'm tortured
in my trust
And watch it crystalize
While my salvation crumples to dust
Why can't I steer the ship before
it hits the storm
I've fallen to the sea but still
I swim for shore
Tell me when the kiss of love
becomes a lie
That bears the scar of sin too deep
To hide behind this fear of running
unto you
Please let there be light
In a darkened room

It’s way more painful. It’s about a child’s trust having been betrayed by an adult who just lusted for them
lyrics so easy to understand. Dec 2019 still in my memory SD card.
Marvelous singing..❤❤❤.
Skid Row will never die.....forever

I disagree. I dont think it's about Child trafficking in particular. It's about child/sexual abuse in general.
I tested the range on many a speaker to this one.

I like this song, it seems like Christian song.
That's because Sebastian Bach had the ability to channel God's angels when he sang. For a few years. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away just to show who's Boss.
I think this song have something to do with the child abuse in the christian church.
In love😍😍😍
