    I remember this. I was 10 yrs old and daddy got everything we would need to get us through this storm. I remember watching this with the family and not feeling scared bc I knew my parents was going to keep us safe. The people around were all caring and everyone was different back then. They loved everyone and now you have people with all this money and just destroying everything. Never going to be the same. All we have is memories. 💙

    Ohhhhhh this brings me back. I was 12 when this storm hit. I was glued to the window all night watching it. Started as rain in Monmouth county NJ with intense wind. Winds reported in Central NJ between 100 and 125mph. Changed to snow overnight......with thundersnow. It was the most memorable storm in my entire life. To see leafless trees bent and flatten the way they did was astonishing. If they had the weight of leaves on them, no doubt they'd all be gone. I could hear our roof cracking in the strongest wind gusts. I could also feel the windows slightly bow in and out. Doesn't feel like it was that long ago. Only 2 tornadoes I've been thru in SC had stronger winds. I'll never forget the adrenaline pumping thru my body most of the night. Finally shortly before sunrise time, it started to die off so I passed out. Woke up to about 13" of snow. Only the superstorm of '96 had more snow. 3½ feet of snow with 6 foot drifts. Winds not as strong. 50-60mph I believe. The '93 storm will be with me my entire life. Even if I get dementia, I'll probly remember that storm. Lol

    I was 8 years living in Western PA where we got over 2 feet of snow and Pittsburgh had its annual St Patrick's day parade right in the middle of it. Talk about crazy.

    I lived in West Palm Beach, Florida, and that line of storms moved through. One of the worst I’ve ever been through when I finally open my front door. I saw shingles everywhere and I thought my roof was gone, but it came from my neighbors behind me. The worst storms I’ve ever been through.

    Damn. I was 10 years old. Living in northern connecticut, I remember being glued to TWC during every big storm since hurricane Bob, this was no exception. Though, I remember feeling ripped off lol. one, because it couldn't have happened during the school week lol and two, because alot of sleet and rain mixed in for a while here, so we didn't get nearly as much snow as everyone else...I mean, I think we only got like 10" if that. Still had a fun weekend though! The sleet actually made it perfect for snowmen and snowforts! Snowballs hurt like hell though 😂

    Northern Alabama where I live got about a foot of snow or more. I was only a toddler (a month from turning 3 years old) and don't remember it much. My dad got home video of my family enjoying the snow outside a little bit. We didn't own a video camera at the time. He borrowed from a neighbor. The camera lens kept fogging up and didn't get much footage lol He did get plenty of pictures though.

    I was 11 when this superstorm hit in March 1993, it was a blizzard cause of the arctic air and high wind here in Boston but it was only like 12 to 14 inches of snow. A similar type of storm hit the same week here in late March 2024 like late March 1993 but the storm here in Boston was all rain 2 to 3 inches and not snow but up in northern New England it was all snow like 1 to 2 ft which was good for ski country for late March spring business.

    She kept saying a foot .. ignoring her own map that said TWO to FOUR feet. I like Vivian but she was really underselling this storm like just another winter storm

    • @476233
      @476233 ปีที่แล้ว

      That says locally 2-4 feet. That means it wouldn’t be everywhere. If you look at the top, it shows the color scheme for the predicted totals. Snow is one of the hardest things to predict due to temperature fluctuation, the moisture moving too fast out of an area before the cold air moves in, and local variations in elevation.

      Also, remember this is probably one of the first major blizzards that was forecast well in advance and the technology for that time, the models probably didn’t have nearly as much accuracy as they do now.

      @@lincmerc1581 You're right they were! If you were in Birmingham, you most likely lost power. And he's right. There was thunder. Lightning and thunder, a thundersnow is what that's called when a thunderstorm and a snowstorm occur at the same time.

      Both times we had snow, it thundered here on the Gulf Coast.
