  • Brad ‪@TrailRecon‬ and I on a new Overland adventure! We come back to the awesome U.S. Route 395. We visit Monache Meadows for the first time, found an Epic camping spot near an historic cabin, have amazing chow and because of a lake closing we changed our destination, this took us back to one of our favorites lakes at over 10,000 feet above the sea level! Join the adventure!!

I just want to thank you and Brad for leaving the places you visit better than when you found them. I will never understand people who say they love spending time in nature, but refuse to do even simplest things to help preserve and care for it. I love following both of you and your adventures.

I love watching Brad's videos and drooling over your food. I don't know why I haven't subscribed to your channel until now but I'm looking forward to binge watching all your videos and seeing all your amazing food. I am the camp chef for my group. I cooked for a living for 15 years but to see your skills out in the middle of nowhere makes me want to do the same thing with my jeep set up.

At first when you showed your oven I thought it was a repurposed angel food cake pan with a lid . Chili Relleno is one of my favorite Mexican foods right behind Tamales . I'm with the Sierra Club on many things , one is the motto "Take only memories , leave only footprints" although I expand footprints to include tire tracks on established trails . I'm a hiker first and a trail driver second , and it doesn't hurt that you travel a lot of my old haunts from my first 62 years living in So. Cal. , that's why I love you guys !

Could I ask a favour from you though? Can you please shoot a video on how you take care of your skottle when not on the road. How do you pack it, how do you season it, and keep it clean.
I just bought one for myself a few weeks ago (solely due to see it in use on your channel), and I absolutely love it, but it is cast iron, and I know there will be lots of elbow grease needed for upkeep.

Hey Marco, same thing here in Phoenix during the summer... hot in the desert at 1,300' elevation, but, drive 2 hours and get to 7,500' on the Mogollon Rim, and the temperature drops 20+ degrees in the cool pines. Check out Forest Road 300 on the Mogollon Rim, if interested.... lots of articles and videos about it, and it's my favorite camping area for the last 25+ years (all 40 miles of FR 300!). Food! Wow, I'm really interested in the rolled steak and how many options could be made with it. And, the chiles rellanos looked so delicious! Perfect for Lent, too. Glad to see you both enjoying camping and the outdoors. Peace and cheers! Pete - KI7LIL

Coyote Flats was a good decision. Laurel Lake, although stunning, is kind of like the Grizwalds at the Grand Canyon. It’s a little bit of a drive for a very small, crowded lake. The trail is cool, but not challenging. I’ve done it in a ‘97 TJ and an ‘86 Toyota 4x. It has amazing views, but the time is a push when it comes to reward. Biggest plus, golden trout.

Marco, I’ve followed you and Brad for a long time and have loved your adventures and good nature. I’ve struggled to understand how you guys can pull the heavy trailers and have all that gear on modified Jeeps without exceeding Payload. How do you do it?

We are exceeding the payload for sure! But the suspension mods and upgraded parts help
