  • Greeks Play Land first opened in 1970 to serve as a whimsical place for handicapped children to enjoy. was built primarily using repurposed materials by "The Greek," an orphan turned landscaper to the stars.
He made a promise, he kept it, and this play land is open for the public to enjoy, absolutely free of charge.
the Greek has sadly passed away and no one wants to maintain the theme park anymore so it's shut down for good.. so it closed after his death .

I believe he created this place to make children happy because of his own tragic childhood of being abandoned. I have a feeling the world lost an incredible human being with his passing. Kinda makes ya wonder if his spirit might still roam this place as he put his heart and soul into it. RIP Mr.Greek! Thanks Josh for taking us along.

Such a beautiful initiative from "The greek". People with disabilities are incredibly overlooked in society and it's important to lift them up and give everyone a chance to participate. I've worked with people with disabilities and it's inspiring to see people dedicate their lives to projects like these. Amazing find Josh, very good video and as always it's wonderful to see how passionate you are. You bring these places back to life.

      @LuciiDixon_Tattoos ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes!! People with disabilities are definitely overlooked within society. I’m not sure what
It’s like for disabled people in the USA, but here in England, the stigma is disgusting. I’m disabled, and I hate it. I have Been since I was 16 but my spinal condition is one that’s
Gradually gotten worse the older I get (and I had major spinal surgery in 2014 but it made it worse!), yet we don’t get to have enjoyable things to do because everything that is fun in the UK is for able bodied people 😢 even public transport is crap for us who cannot help being disabled. We get called scroungers and rude name calling. And the lack of activities for those of us who struggle with any kind
Of disability puts a huge strain on our mental health.
This guy was amazing to build such a place and to think about those who are disabled as well is just incredible ❤

@@LuciiDixon_Tattoos it's always " you're too young to be disabled" the worst people I have encountered are OAP's who are not even disabled in any way but just purely down to their age they feel like they are more entitled. This isn't even with hidden disabilities, this is with wheelchairs/ obvious use of mobility aids. It's frustrating.

Hey Josh, The Greek had a nice idea. It's too bad that someone else couldn't keep it up. Since the land is so valuable, I'm surprised that the city, county, state hasn't declared eminent domain. A few things:
    • VIDEO - I like the news clip at the beginning of the video. It gave a little more insight as to the history of the park. Also your vids are starting to show more finesse and polish.
    • BURGER - The burger themed jungle gym and rocking horses are from McDonald's.....along time ago. They are waaaay before your time. 😉
    • HAMBURGER POLICEMAN - The policeman from McD's was named Officer Big Mac.
    • PERGOLA - The round area in the wedding venue is called a pergola. That is probably where the couple would get married.
    • ASPHALT - The "tar" stuff is most likely asphalt piled up.
    • HELO, TANK, TRUCK - Yes they are real, you can see the military serial #'s on the helo. The helo is a Bell AH-1 Cobra Attack helicopter.
His nephew probably didn't want to continue it because it was too expensive to maintain. At least people had a chance to enjoy it while they could. Ok, stay safe and take care. 😇

This video makes me so happy. I love all of your content. But exploring abandoned places is something else. I used to do it myself until something really scary happened to me and my friends so I’ve never done it again.
The way you make your videos it feels like I’m there with you. The drone shots are phenomenal.
Thank you for your hard work and sharing all your adventures with us josh ❤

Many of the theme park available and running in Japan is nothing compare to this park, deeply respect the man. The place may be gone, but your legacy will inspire many people by this amazing video. Thanks Josh!

I love stuff like this as you can really feel the memories that probably got left behind also just why I like urban exploring in general.

If I remember correctly that hamburger jail looking thing and the sandwich rocker were a McDonald's playland pieces that some McDonald's had but the play area pieces changed over the years. Old school McDonald's playland pieces. But definitely cool to see this, he put a lot into this place and it's awesome to see.

He found his purpose and that is the most beautiful thing about this. So many people find it impossible to see what makes them happy and feel fulfilled. His life and that place were not created in vain. There was certainly a purpose. That is beautiful for an orphan story.

Thank you for mentioning wild bill. That reminded me of his lot as well. I thought I saw a video over there. I'm from Connecticut . You went to the Norwich state hospital. And that was awesome.
I remember when it was opened. I had a childhood friend who was A resident in the Norwich state hospital back in the Seventies. We miss going to wild bills . They let that place rot. Thanks Josh.
