Great video and free diving . I was just there on Memorial Day. The current pushes up and out a lot harder than it looks, be careful on your way up and out, as the current tends to push you into the lime rock walls . It’s spookily beautiful once you make it to the sand and have a look around the expanding room . Thanks for uploading
The Basin is around ten feet deep and the dive all the way down to the sand at the bottom of the "jug", as it's called, is about 40-45 feet. There is a strong current pushing out of the jug.
When I was stationed in Jacksonville this was one of our favorite spots, been to the bottom of that hole many times in snorkel gear, thanks for the memories =)
My WHOLE body also feels better after spending maybe 20 mins in that cold water. I’m getting chills writing this, coolest most beautiful place I’ve ever been yet. Maybe one day another will trump it like Donald, but who knows eh?
Was just here this weekend, absolutely fuckin beautiful place. Made me wanna get certified to go scuba diving. Snorkeling wasn’t much fun for me. Gotta practice more or something! Still had an absolute blast, pretty sure I ignorantly caught a venomous snake, and didn’t get bit. Thank you Steve Irwin and RIP dog! GO VISIT THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVENT, get out of your bubble and go above the eery blue hole and look down with some goggles, that alone I’ll never forget the beauty. This is now one of my absolute favorite places to be, that I have been.
Just went today, just got to look over because I couldn’t hold my breath for too long (so out of shape )😂 and not sure if it was all in my head but I felt harder to swim around it because of the current.
Me and my buddy are going down to Blue Hole this coming Sunday. We wanna make it to the bottom. So far we've been down 25-30 feet or so at other springs. We're pretty basic free divers but we don't smoke so our lungs are able to hold better air, And we know how and when to equalize ear pressure. I saw in your comment to another user that it's about a technique, What exactly is your technique so me and my buddy can apply the tactic to what we do?
It’s about 40’ to the bottom of Blue Hole and you are swimming into a pretty intense current. Take it slow and be careful. Do not push yourself. I’d suggest learning from a professional freediver either in person or online so that you will minimize your risk. Learn about breathing up, intervals, and always always always dive with a buddy. The risk of a blackout is very real.
I'm really interested in Freediving a Florida Spring. I live in Broward county and this is the closet spring to me. Is there any deeper blue holes in that spring system?
+A.J. Harris South Florida is a haul from the springs but I'd totally recommend making it a trip and hit up Troy, Royal, Blue Hole at Ichetucknee, Little River Spring and others. Here's a map we have created with clickable pins. drive.google.com/open?id=1oXRUtDRH3eUQCuKrliYP3q9EOhk&usp=sharing
Not much in the way of rocks to jump off of here. Royal Spring has a high jumping platform but I think it’s flooded with tannic river water at the moment.
+wm c barker Yes there are. We always keep a lookout for them especially if we get to a spring and we are one of the only ones there. There is always a chance there will be a gator in fresh water in Florida. The really popular springs will see less gators when there are crowds because gators do not want to be around loud, splashing people, but there's always a chance.
+wm c barker I will add that the vast majority of the time, the gators we have seen (and I have seen hundreds) want nothing to do with us. We respect them and leave them alone and they do the same for us. Will I swim with one? Um... Nope! Haha!
Ok, you try it. A standard pool is at most 6-7 feet deep. This is 50 feet deep all the way to the bottom. The man in the video went around half that so 25 feet. Ok you try now.

It truly is an incredible experience and a challenge for sure.

+Forest Winter you're welcome!
Very cool video. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!

Awesome! Yeah that current rips out of that hole.
I wish I could dive down into a little more but I'm not used to the pressure. I have only been able to go about 10 feet down 😅
Don’t try to push past your physical limits. Nothing down there is worth getting injured. Just have fun and enjoy the beauty.
Went to Kelly park yesterday beautiful but not deep at all

Great video Curtis! My wife and I are hooked as well. Haven't been there yet, but it's on my list. How deep is it?

What’s the best spring with diving holes n rocks to jump off in Florida ?
Not much in the way of rocks to jump off of here. Royal Spring has a high jumping platform but I think it’s flooded with tannic river water at the moment.
And Ichetucknee Blue Hole has a great, deep hole for diving.
Nice video! I gave it a like.
+grouperhunter thanks!
How long do you have to hold your breath to be able to go down that far? Really cool video!
This type of thing requires professional training in order to do it safely. Its less about breath hold time and more about technique.
are the alligators in any of Florida's springs?

Why does everyone use this gay generic song
It's one of the free TH-cam songs that people can use without violating copyright. That's why you hear it a lot on YT.
🙄 you go down, you come up.. Wow! I can do that in a pool. Nothing amazing, get your gear on and explore would be more exciting.
You are so right! I also love scuba too but I enjoy snorkeling/freediving. They are both fun 💧
