How to travel Hakone in one day by Romance car train for cheap money. One day trip guid in Japan 4K

- Hey, this is how we visit all famous attractions in Hakone Japan on 1st of October 2022.
We got the Odakyu Hakone free pass from the Odakyu website the day before we go to Hakone. This is the reference for the webpage. Hakone Free pass is a money saving pass allowing unlimited rides for these places and services.
1. Hakone Tozan train
2. Hakone Tozan cable car
3 Hakone ropeway
4 Hakone sightseeing cruise boat ride
5 Hakone Tozan bus
6 Odakyu highway bus
7 Tokai bus
We can have unlimited rides from using the Hakone free pass for 6100 Yen per person. This pass valid for 2 days. For more information, follow this link.

This is the details of our trip
7.38am- We got into the Romance car train bound to Hakone. Romance car is a luxury limited express train by Odakyu. It has clean toilets and vending machines inside the train.
8.29am- We arrived Hakone Yumato station
8.38am- We got into Hakone Tozan bus to go to Moto-hakone.
9.14am- We arrived to Moto-hakone area and started to go to Hakone shrine.
9.30am- We came to Heiwa no tori gate and took bunch of photos and then headed to Hakone shrine.
11.15am- We left Hakone shrine and came to Moto Hakone again.
12.00pm- After having lunch we took the bus to Komagatake ropeway entrance
pm- We got the tickets to ropeway and got into the car. This ropeway line doesn't include to the Hakone free pass. So we need to get ticket paying extra money. But it's worth to visit since there are many beautiful sceneries you can see from the mountain top.
It's quite cold in there and you need to prepare an extra warmer cloth if you want to go there. We can see beautiful shrine in the highest place. Also we can see Izu peninsula, Sagami bay, Odawara, Tokyo,Yokohama, Mount Fuji, Yamanaka lake, Shizuoka and Chiba etc..
3pm- We spent two hours on the top of mount Komagatake and then came back to Ahi no lake to get the cruise boat ride.
4pm- We came to Togandai cable car station by the cruise boat. That boat ride was so nice and the scenery was magnificent.
4.30pm- We go the cable car from Togandai to Owakudani volcanic site. We can overlook an arial view of 3000 years old volcanic crater with sulfer dioxide fumes and boiling hot water springs. We were planned to spend more time there. But we spent too much time in Komagatake. So the time wasn't enough since the cable car is closing at 5pm.
5.15- Came to Gore station using Hakone Tozan cable car and got the train to Hakone Yumato station.
7pm- Came home by Romance car.

You don't have to take Romance car to go to Hakone. You can just take a rapid express train and go to Odawara station. And then get Hakone Tozan train or bus from Odawara to Hakone.

Thanks for you'r comment. Yes. You can buy it from any ticket machine of Odakyu line. Follow the instructions given in the video.
With hakone free pass , you still need to paid for the Romance car ride from Shinjuku station as additional fares ?? is that right ?

hI there, I find the ticket purchasing a bit confusing. I purchased this from E Romancecar. It says on the confirmation that I need a seperate ticket to board the train. I thought I had purchased this (see below) Do i need an extra ticket also? Thanks

Sorry for late response. E Romance car ticket is valid for the train ride. But you need to pay the standard train fee for the normal train ride
Example
Train fee from Shinjuku to Hakone 500¥
Romance car ticket prices 800¥
Total price for tickets is 1300¥
How are we gonna use the hakone free pass for a bus? just let the driver see our pass? or we have to insert it at the machine on the bus? just like the train? I've been to Japan before but never taken a bus

question: how did you get a romancecar seat by just buying the freepass? i thought you need to pay for the limited express surcharge?
We need to get separate tickets for Romance car. Only usual train cost will cover from free pass. ❤️
When you buy the Hakone free pass with round trip, does that include the romance car or is the romance car an extra charge.

Yes you can but only Hakone Tozan buses

Hi, it's correct that in order to use that Hakone Free Pass + Romancecar combo, you cannot book the Romancecar in advance in order to get a good seat, correct? You must do it in the morning at Shinjuku Station? I'm a little confused as to how it works. I would love to pre-book the Romancecar seat on their website. Thank you, great video!
You can book it online. We also did the same. We didn’t get the combo.
Is the hakone free pass like a card? also can you use it at all buses in Hakone ?
You can use Hakone pass for Hakone Tozan buses only
Any bus from Hakone-Yumoto gets to Moto-Hakone?
Yes. You can get it from Hakone bus station next to the railway station
Hiiii I am still a little confused. Do I need to buy the Hakone free pass AND 2 Limited Express Romance Car tickets (to go there and back in one day) or can I just buy the Hakone free pass?

Yes you have to. Romance car ticket is not included on this pass

Apparently if you got the Hakone free pass with the odakyu line free pass, you can use the QR code to get a free entry. Do approach the station staff and they'll guide you accordingly.

Thanks for the comment. We started the trip at 7.30am and finished at about 7pm. We started and ended our trip from Ebina station.

Every season is good for Hakone. I went there in the end of summer. Many people say most beautiful time is the autumn 🍁

Romance car ticket is not included in this package. However, you can use normal Odakyu trains for free

@@kayelanmail Sorry I just noticed your comment. You can book it in the same day. But for romance car, maybe you need advance booking if it's a holiday in Japan. But of course if you can't book Romance car, you can use odakyu normal train to odawara and take the Hakone local train from Odawara station
