    Last month I made a video showing how to cut and install a glass bed on the Monoprice Maker Select Mini. The installation process is SUPER simple, but the glass cutting can be a bit tricky (I’ve definitely shed some blood…).
    After I posted that video, a manufacturer sent me a few samples of glass beds for the Monoprice Delta and Select Minis. This glass is pre-cut to the exact size of the printers’ beds, and is also a bit higher quality overall (the edges are also finished in a way that minimizes the risk of injury/damage).
    I REALLY like the simplicity of ordering the pre-cut glass, and even though cutting your own is pretty easy and fun, this is a heck of a lot safer, and might ease some people’s anxiety about installing a glass bed.

      Thanks for the videos! I just discovered 3D printing this past Saturday and I purchased the MP Select Mini V2 at a friend's suggestion. I'm loving it so far and have decided to go ahead and upgrade to a glass bed, especially since it's so inexpensive and easy to do and your videos have been incredibly helpful in helping me figure out what items I need and what steps I need to take.
      One question for you: You mention cleaning the glass when the glue stick residue builds up - how often do you find you need to remove the glass and clean it? Do you have to do it between each print job or can you do a couple or several prints before having to reapply and/or clean the glass.
      Thanks again! Have a great day!

    • @tombuck

      Congrats on your printer! I usually clean the glass bed after every 7 or 8 prints, or whenever the texture starts to feel too rough.

      @@tombuck Thanks! That sounds reasonable. I was concerned I've have to remove the glass after each print. And while that's totally doable, it's ideal. :)

    Hi Tom! With your help I was able to get my glass bed finally installed on my Mpsm V2. I need to print some parts made of the flexible filament but the problem I am having is the filament curling up on top of the tower where it looks like it's being fed into a white tube. Have you come across this and found a fix? I can print nice level parts now ;) or purchase from Amazon if need be.
    Thanks for your help and excellent videos!
    ~Darren

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, I’ve never used flexible filament with the Mini before, so I don’t have firsthand experience to speak from...
      Is the filament curling before it physically gets into the extruder? I’ve had that issue before with PLA, and sometimes have to use a small tool like a screwdriver or pin to guide the filament.
      Glad you’re liking the glass though!

    Does this effectively shrink the max print size? How do I account for the decreased height in cura? (Nice vid by the way)

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Technically it does decrease the height, but unless you’re working with models that max out the dimensions it shouldn’t be an issue. I haven’t made any changes to the printer profile in Cura. Just be sure to install the z axis spacer!

    So, I've had my MonoPrice Mini Delta for a while, and I got the glass bed. When I try to print, (With the default starting and ending gcodes) When it starts printing, the printer jams into the bed during the calibration process. If I let it finish the calibration process, when it starts printing, it prints a couple millimeters off the print bed. I've been researching for hours, and can't find anything.

    Well I’m having another problem of many problems with this printer. Right after I enter a print job, the delta makes a loud noise while staying in the home spot. Then after this, the printer starts to print way mid air. So I tried to print the cat file that came with the micro sd card, and the same problem has happened again. So I then came to the conclusion that there must be a problem with the printer but, I’m not so sure what the problem is. Any tips will help, thanks.

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, it’s good you tested it with the cat file because that does point to it being a mechanical issue. It sounds like maybe one of the motors is stuck?
      I hate to say it, but if that’s the case it may be time to call Monoprice support. It’s a bummer to have so many issues, you just want to print!

    I bought the glass bed you recommended, but I'm a little puzzled. How did you get the clips to hold the bed on and not ruin the leveling ability? I have the same size clips and i just tried a first print and the arms and bottom of the clip push up on the bed preventing the nozzle from tripping the auto leveling sensor and it ends up running into the bed. I've tried folding the bottom arms underneath the bed then re-securing the bed but the same issue occurs, and I'm not sure its a good idea because the bottom arms when folded under are all in contact with the bed heater underneath. Any suggestions?

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh yes, it’s definitely a bit of a struggle. I keep meaning to find smaller clips, but haven’t done it yet.
      I’ve had good luck just repositioning the clips until all 3 of the leveling sensors can “click” and things work fine. Sometimes I’ve used only 2 clips with no issues too.

    Ok. So my last problem is fixed. it doesn't stop the *THTHTHTHTHT* sound, but it at least starts printing correctly. But, when it's time to take the print off, it's like really stuck, because the gcode doesn't account for the glass. So how would I add, like an offset or something to keep the nozzle from jamming the bed and making a hard to remove print?

    • @tombuck

    I give up!!! I can NOT make a 3D print because the filament will NOT stick to the bed surface of the Mini Delta! I've tried glue stick, and the print slides like it was printing on teflon. I've tried hair spray, sometimes it works for a few minutes then the whole print comes loose, other times it starts sliding right away. I've tried brims and rafts. Now I bought the round glass plate (would have been happy to pay a bit more to get the clips and some instructions, or a reply to emails) but am unable to get any different results. So I have to disagree with how easy you say it is given the information presented. If you or someone would publish a "how-to" that included a gcode file with settings that are known to work and a machine setup (glass, glue, blue tape, whatever!) that will produce a working print every time it would be fantastic. Instead we are told "this works for me" and left to wonder what the total "this" is. Random fiddling with the gcode isn't going to lead to success. I'm frustrated - I thought learning 3D CAD would be the hard part ;-) I would appreciate any suggestions that will enable me to make decent 3D prints.
