I got a kick watching the steers 'watching' you! That was cute!! Enjoyed this project, hope the boy's enjoy their new water 'trough'! When I saw you eating the beef jerky, I got my jerky and savoured the taste..umm, good BBQ jerky!!
Great video Mike. Always nice to see Jeff in the videos too. Liked his comment that water was the first ingredient in the Mountain Dew. Always enjoy seeing what's going on at the ranch.
Once again, loved the video. The cattle sure are nosy. Loved the kisses on the screen. So glad you got the right size tank. Have a great weekend and God bless.
Hi Mike and all others too. I enjoy watching your videos always waiting for it to come through. You go do your work for anything on the farm! Just like you said we gotta water even the animals and plants too. Hugs and Prayers everyone have a bless day.🐷🐔🐮🐮🐷😍great lil music
"Hay" Mike and Jeff, Good to see the new stock tank installed and getting filled with cool, fresh water! The boys will ♥️ it! That old tank sure was a mess! Can't wait to see what happens next at the Ranch! Until the next video ~~~ Stay safe, healthy and happy! 🐃 💧 🐃
I love your interaction with the cows all the animals really I can just watch you and your family take care of the farm for hours , WEIRD I know other animal channel to Just a Few Acres Farm, Farmer Tyler Ranch I just watch you guys few hours its so relaxing THANK YOU.
Jeff, I have made that exact argument about the water in Mountain Dew! Added bonus.... there's orange juice in Mountain Dew, and that makes it a breakfast drink as well!!!😁
The change of the water tanks looks good to me, that should work better for you. The A team is looking good. I hope you all have a nice evening, hope you have a good remainder of the week and weekend.
next time you need to empty a tank/pool get a 2in "Trash" pump from Harbor freight. Not only can you use it to empty a tank, but it works great as a Fire pump on home made Fire Trailers/Skid units
Jeff that's ok I'm a Dr.Pepper all the way lady. So don't feel bad about your Mountain Dew, we all have our vices. Yeah those stairs were watching you that was funny when they were watching you mess with their water 👀👀. God bless yall
something I thought about. that old water tank. clean it out, and put the hay ring in it, and then you can pull or push it around the pen and move it out of your way when needed. Not sure it will work but just a suggestion.
That was just nasty, the Boys just dont have any etiquette . That idea was great with the smaller tank. Always something to do on the ranch. That's the reality of the chores. Great video Mike.
When you were talking about cleaning the chicken litter box (earlier video) the first thing I thought of was an old spade with holes drilled in it. Little did I know they actually made such a thing. I guess I'm not as smart as I thought I was.. just cheaper.
I hope the cows won't be knuckleheads and try and get into that tank. Well, you know about Murphy's Law! Anyhoo, this is another great plan of yours! Be Blessed!
Hey Mike, not to rain on your project. I'm just an old farmer, but it looks like over not a very long time with the cattle rubbing on the tank I think the post will rub a hole in that thin tank? A small block of wood would sure help? Sure enjoy the channel!
Put a cow panel over the water tank, secure it so you can remove it as needed, they can’t stand in it then. You can cut out areas for drinking. I hope you kept that plug for the other tank👍✅😎 🍁🍂🎃🍂🍁
And the third ingredient of Mtn. Dew is concentrated orange juice. So it must be healthy. That is why I drink a liter a day to keep the doc away! Sweet nectur of the Gods is what I call it. Jeff and I would get along well. Lol. Someday Mike we will bring camp trailer down and stay at new RV park.
Jeff, what brand and size (gal's) is that tank? I have to replace some of mind. Have 6 of the Rubber Maid 300 gal and 5 of them developed a crack in the same spot and are leaking. Tried fixing them, but only successful with 1. Going to go the Galvanized or Concrete.
Hey Mike is there any way you can put a sheet of plywood cross that so just cut out holes really get your head in and then sit maybe they won't climb in don't know this is the idea idea we'll be have a good day
As always, good stuff Mike! Loved the fast-forwarded chewing! Question....why not move the feeding areas to the other side of the lot and keep the same water tank (after cleaning it of course)?
If I'm not mistaken, he mentioned in a previous video and this one that the main issue with the original water tank is that it was big enough and low enough to the ground that the steers were stepping into the water tank to cool off and making it dirty with their muddy hooves and what not. The new tank, although smaller was taller so it shouldn't allow them to step into it and dirty it and because it isn't as wide as the other one, it isn't as close to the feeding area anymore (so no more risk of pooping in the tank while they feed).
Great new tank! Great for the cattle. However, IF you leave the 4 posts in, they would additionally, keep the cattle out of the tank. Another use for that super power washer, getting the old tank nice and clean. Have you tackled the Laying Chicken floor yet? Have a relaxing day, on OWL, and see you Monday!! Bev in Maine
You mentioned that the boys were a little shy. If you put the camera out in front of and led with that, they might be more apt to want a close up. Just like in the clip when you had the camera attached to the fence, I think. I suspect nearly everyone of them kissed or licked the camera. Not shy at all.
Add an electric fence OVER the round water tank giving them just about a foot of tank across the front to drink out of. ( I use a simple battery operated charger here and it would work perfect for that use) The hot wire keeps them OUT of the water and they will still have plenty of space to drink. Of course you need to move the hay ring some as well opposite end of the feed yard.
Electricity and water - super bad combination. One guy accidentally pushes another and....! Mike's idea should work well and safer. I wonder if they make a 'grate' that can secured over the top that only allows for heads to fit.
@@blujeans9462 Typically... YES. But it is a method ... with a proper electric fence charger that gives specialized LOW AMP intermittent pulses ... that many cattlemen use. The amount of actual juice that a battery operated (4 D batteries in mine) charger puts out hurts enough to get a cows attention, but could in NO WAY kill a cow.
@@blujeans9462 I often forget that most people have never been around things like an electric fence charger. Your question was a GREAT one. It gives old farm hands like me a chance to teach people something new. As for me... I have been using (and getting zapped by) electric fence chargers since I was a kid and I am a granny now.
I'm like Jeff but I drink Tea. My friends tell me it's bad & I need to drink water. They must not understand that I fill my over sized travel mug with WATER before I put that tea bag in it...
Does the finishing school pen have any shade cover ? It looks all open to me. Buying bottles of flavoured water, or water with stuff added for the humans is a waste of money and resources. Buy re useable drink bottles and fill with water, then add powdered or tablet flavouring, or rehydration powder. No need to buy a whole new plastic bottle (or can) of mainly water just to get a few bits of micro nutrients, salts, or whatever.
I smile when I watch your videos. It feels great. Thank you!

Try adding a couple of live catfish to your stock tanks. They will do a good job of keeping the tanks clean.
Awesome video Mike

nice new metal water tank replacing the old but still it is sufficiently wide for cattle to dip their legs in water #
Great job Mike keep it up I love your videos
Thanks Mitchell.
Why don't you move the hay feeder away from the water about 2 or 3 feet on both sides of the tank too?🧡🧡🧡🧡

I just had to pause the video and focus on the background of the steers and realized there are tons of birds back there.
.thanks I was wondering what that movement on the ground was
Hi from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦✌🏼
Hello from Wyoming Ibrahim.
Oh that sounds so good ribeye, steaks. I have ordered your jerky. I like the teriyaki.
If you enjoyed the jerky you are gonna enjoy the steaks too!
Our steer water tank is just an ol' bathtub. Kinda jealous seeing one that nice
Jeff deserves Mountain dew code red after moving that thing
He just likes the regular Dew. Thanks for watching.

Whats with Bobtail
Hopefully y’all are getting some rain this week! Had a tomato 🍅 that came out weighing 1 Lb. It was huge! And will soon be Salsa!
Thats a big tomato and hope its good Salsa too.
The kids are always making a mess. The project looks great.
Thank you Scott.
shouldn't you also move the ring feeder? or does it need to be near the fence so you can use the tractor to fill it?
Correct. We have to be able to reach it
Now that you have some practice with it, want to come do another one? Haha Thanks guys!
LOL be right over!
HI from Mesa AZ
If you use a pump like that. Get a 5 gallon bucket , burry the pump in the bucket drilled with holes and burry the bucket at the bottom of the tank.
What are the little things scooting around the cow pen during the sped up parts over the stock tank? 9:52 They are all over the place.
Good story...cheers 🙂
Maybe a dumb question but why not move the hay feeder a little farther away from the water as well?
Have to be able to access the feeders with the tractor and not block the grain bunks.
To be on safe side. If you have T-Post caps. I have seen rambunctious animals belly flop on T-Post, not a pretty sight.
We cut them off already. Thanks for watching!
Looks good.
Check out and put in Drinking Post Waterer. Frost free and fresh water all of the time.
Saw the video around 2pm. Waited 8 hours to watch it in my bed.
Great video!!! Cool idea to change tanks, will there be a follow up video later?
What are all those things moving around on the ground behind the steers around the 9:13 mark and beyond? Grasshoppers?
Jeff, what brand and size (gal's) is that tank?

Birds
What were the critters on the ground that were moving around when you were fast-forwarding the video while you were draining the cow tank?
Those were probably some birds.
We're having the same problem with our bull getting in the stock tank. :(
Can youmove the feeder away from the water tank?.
Great new tank! Great for the cattle. However, IF you leave the 4 posts in, they would additionally, keep the cattle out of the tank. 16:30 gees! your well water is that clean? our out here in Rozet is orange and disgusting.
We are pretty lucky in that regards.
That's a neat shovel. Hopefully the cows will like the new water tank. Y'all are going to smell not so nice after that lol 😂😂
I agree the new shovel is pretty slick. The smell was nothing in comparison to what everybody probably imagined.
Hi Mike. What is the name of the song and band/group? Enjoy your videos.
Hey you need a lifeguard and possibly some pfd's for them steers.
How is Matt doing is he ever coming back
What happened to the tail on the one steer
Does the A team pen not need some shelter ?..

No, Jeff, You get a few drops of water and a lot of sugar. Pop dehydrates. That's my story and I'm stick'n to it. :P
My dad always kept goldfish and some times catfish in the stock tanks. They ate all the cow backwash.
It looked like they had a sparrow invasion during the time lapse. The A team wasn't happy that you took their pool out.

Not enough room. It would cover up the grain troughs.
It's a lot of work taking care of cows but I'm sure it's all worth it in the end
