💛I live in Illinois and I remember going to the desert for my Christmas present in 2014 I was 13 years old. It was the best experience, we flew over there because it was faster. But I still remember the great times we had and some bad times. the best thing there was no humidity. It’s so different to the Midwest when you just see all desert over here is just see forest and grasslands. The atmosphere is so clear in the desert. Great for stargazing! I’m currently 23 years old and I have great memories. I look at the photos and videos and I just get so happy. 💛
The bed area needs a redesign. For $440k I would expect more head room where the pillows are. Perhaps he could have moved down a few inches to give him more head room?
Couldn't agree more. A lot of $ going into making it look purdy, not enough into making it practical - that's how I see it. The price of this thing is indicative or where we are in the world now...and where we are going. This is insanely overprice imo. Sure it looks cool on the outside, but for the $ only a few insanely wealth people would spend this on this. Also, what does it get, 5 mpg? I love looking at the latest and greatest, but this is just too much. Would def spend the time and $ to do a custom long before spending close to half a mil - everything looks tiny and shiny - other than the rugged look - not impressed. Some serious mid-life crisis on wheels to be sure.
Live in it for a month and you’ll find way more things to redesign than headroom. All of these videos are like a kid on xmas morning. Omg! Omg! Omg! 😂Wait 1-2 days and the new car smell will disappear. Was hoping for mo’ better.
A lot of this is not optimal if you plan to live in this. 78" interior height (so tall people have to “adjust”)? Ours is 86” interior height. 280 pounds tire +wheel? Ours are 185 pounds using Nasa Wheels w/ MPT81’s… that’s 500 unnecessary pounds for 5 tires. Where are the Centramatic balancers? Cabover headroom is 10”-26” with a queen bed? Ours is 32” above a king size mattress. You have to fold the rear bench seat to use the pass-thru? Ours has two buckets with a clear center to crawl from the cab to the camper (no folding). You can’t use the pass-thru if the ladder is down. Ours has a movable ladder so you can use the cabover and the pass-thru at the same time. Plastic windows? Ours are Outbound (glass). That’s a lot of money to have to compromise on quality. Did they really compromise the shell by attaching the emblem with screws? Why not VHB tape? And the big tamale - what’s the empty curb weight and loaded curb weight? Would love to go thru this in detail to see where they excelled and where they compromised.
Storyteller Overland Hilt appears to be a nice vehicle, but a NuCamp Cirrus 820 and a Dodge Ram 3500 (loaded) setup is one third the cost and will take you to the same places in pretty much the same comfort. Plus, if the 820 needs service you’ll still have your truck.
Im sure it will come out in time but the water capacity, how the extra battery power compares to the standard Volta system, hours of power, etc.. Sweet looking vehicle..
It is big money for sure, but have you seen the prices of the EarthRoamer’s? If not, let’s just say you could’ve possibly bought two homes before biden took office.
Too long of a truck for living space. Should of designed a proper expedition truck with a cab over. For that money there is a full list or Proper builders
Everytime is see these i think. Wow what a waist of money. Where they can go is limited to where they can fit. Which limots a ton of places. . A small truck with overlanding equipment is more useful . . 😢. These things are not for the true Overlander offroader crowd.
Obviously you haven't ventured into the Southwest or western deserts of the US. There are tons of places this would work. Spur rds on north rim are amazing.

Absolutely a bada** unit! Thanks for the in depth review, John!
Pretty cool rig

Might expensive but slightly cheaper than Earthroamer. So when I finally sell my house, I may order one and sell my Sprinter :)
It’s about 300k cheaper then earthroamer
What a beast of a vehicle! Totally cool though!

Love your content and products, now please add more stable videos and my wife can also watch without getting motion sickness. :)
These are very nice. I wish I could afford to get one and where I would store it.
Very nice 👍
6:23 what does DEF mean? I tried searching it, but it was a tattoo. Can you explain this to me?
DEF is Diesel Exhaust Fluid. It is a fluid used to help clean the emissions of diesel engines and is required in the US.
@@owloffroadoh thanks. I’m new to RVs.

That's the king of KOA, lol. No one in their right mind is gonna take that expensive piece into the wild
🔥🔥🔥
Image. Stabilization.
How much?
Big money compared to a Sprinter chassis.

envy much?
Very nice, but definitely over engineered.
Very nice but I'd take an Eartroamer LTi over the GXV.

Good for you! It's not the unit for you.
It will go alot of places in the Eastern Sierra, deserts and mountains of Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho,Montana and Wyoming. I could go on.
I'd go with a GMC3500 4x4 with an Alaskan pop up. $130,000 and more capable.
So I saved $270,000 to buy a real house to keep my vehicle.
Define “true” overlander offroader? At 27 feet it can go a lot of places. Another keyboard warrior with a bad take.

That's quite a looooong wheelbase. Calling it the new king of overlanding is a stretch....literally. Keep it near flat dirt roads and you'll be fine.
