Okay. I am gonna step in. Greek here. Great video. I am surprised of how well you got the word πάροικοι but there is a connection with the word οικείοι. They are both from the same root which is the word οίκος and means home. So in 1timothy 5:8 the word οικείοι is used to describe the family members, the ones living in the same house. Generally it is use to describe a person being very close to you, not necessarily a family member. Παροικος on the other hand is the one leaving his house to go to live in a foreign land. So in the new land he is an immigrant. My understanding of this is that we were not in his house, we belonged somewhere else but he brought us in and made us close like a family member. I hope I explained it good. My English is not the best😅. Again great video!!

Hey! I am a pastor in Texas. Been doing this for 30 years and you are giving away all my secrets. Loved this video. I can now point people to a video when they ask me how I do my word studies. Two suggestions: Don't skip "stood up" because this animates the story being told and people love to visualize the action; and find the underlying word ("oikos" in this study) and allow the Greek prefixes and combo words paint the picture of the text.

It's the modern idea that you have to go to school to be scholarly. It keeps the masses from knowing and questioning you if they have to rely on someone with a piece of paper to interpret for them.

    • @vanessaboman8143
      @vanessaboman8143 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yes sadly you are right on that. But it just goes to show that many are wanting to build their kingdom, not truly building Christ's kingdom in the hearts of the people... Making word studies sound dangerous is simply stupid... I have done word studies on and off for fifty years almost... There's nothing wrong with new believers going deep, really deep into the third vs of God..the church at thessonolica was taught really deep stuff and they were brand new baby believers that Paul taught. In Christ we have freedom, liberty and equality and we should take full advantage of that.

Love, love, love word studies! Because I'm a "hold in my hand Book" kind of person, I love Spiros Zodhiates, Complete Word Study New Testament, also the same for Old Testament. 2 books, every word keyed to the Strong's numbering system. Then, because 2 two hundred pound books are not enough, there are two more entitled The Complete Word Study Dictionary for Old and New Testament. It covers all the things, tenses, uses, in context, etc. What a difference to know the name of God used in the first sentence of Genesis, introducing the idea of the trinity. I think every pastor should teach word study... what a way to grow maturity...especially in these end times. Enjoyed every minute of your video as always! PS Using Zodhiates is a great way to tone arms with out going to the gym!!

Faith, thank you so much for everything you've shared on your channel. You've really inspired me to feed myself with the bible and for the first time in my life I feel like I'm actually consuming it and not just checking reading the bible of my christian to do list. I'm praying for a dutch interleaved bible, but untill than the space in the margins will have to do. Love the feeling of building a treasure chest in this book of the Lord. It's so different than reading the study bible which also provides a lot of extra info, but is almost too much all at once and doesn't click with what you know. Because you add the info that had allready spoken to you and adds value, it is almost like you allready know it when you rediscover previous notes. Allready within a few weeks I feel like I know so much more about the bible and it doesnt seem unachievable to get to a point where you can really use scripture in conversations and guidance. (More than the basic info that every christian knows)
The Lord has really blessed me through your video's. And I love that this way we can be the christian family without knowing each other, being from different continents and different denominations. God is bigger than all of it and I'm excited to dig deeper!

Love this! I have been doing word study and verse mapping with scriptures from the Gospel readings/Sermon at church. My Pastor enjoys noting certain words from scripture and mentioning the Greek/Hebrew root words for better understanding of passages and it has been fun doing it at home as well. Going through different translations and finding differing English words that have the same strong’s number and understanding why they may have used that word is so interesting!

12:22 I did my bible college masters degree, and I am so glad you made this point Faith about word for word… many believers don’t understand just how clunky translation is if you go straight from one language to another. I remember translating Greek into English while doing my seminary course as a young adult (now 15 years post graduation and almost turning 40 …wooop!!!🎉), the balance for us as masters students was to make it readable as well as accurate. A VERY fine and difficult balance 😅

I've been really interested in learning these things! And I absolutely disagree with any pastor or leader who says you shouldn't teach people something "incase they then do it wrong". God gives EVERY Christian discernment and we should seek his wisdom! If our relationship and knowledge of him are being fed to us by leaders we're not going to have any personal faith or relationship with Jesus! The same argument could be (and I believe has been) made to argue that Christians shouldn't be allowed to read the Bible for themselves in case they misinterpret it 😅❤ also I'm from a church where word studies we absolutely butchered in order to prove the point the congregation wanted to believe even though it contradicted the rest of the scripture!

Serious bible/bible-journaling question: I have a project in mind where I am going to write out the whole bible, and if that wasn't daunting enough, I'm planning to write it in the original language (Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic) and in the original translation (Latin), and in my personal translation (English) obviously with a lot of help from solid sources (I will probably use your video here the get some of those). My plan was to write in 4 columns across 2 pages with the original text in the left column on the left page, the Latin in the right column on the left page, the English in the left column of the right page, and then to leave the right column of the right page blank for journaling. I would like to leave this to my children for their spiritual journeys, with the idea that they would be able to continue journaling. Does this sound like a good plan, or should I leave more blank area than 25% of the physical book? Also, yes I expect this to take 20-30 years or so, I am aware of the massive task.

But when I go back to read it, I feel like it makes no cents. I have alway had that problem with reading. But to listen to it being read I get it. Reading is like my whole focus is on the Pronunciation on the words to get it right. Because I have the pronunciation wrong. My question is how do I get my studies off the paper and just listening to it? Because reading is is not my stronghold. Hearing real comes to me strongly. So having that would help me. It’s interesting hearing you use the word “heresy” so much in this context. If you go back to time of the dark ages, it was used to describe “deciding for yourself what to believe”.
The catholic church was burning people at the stake for even owning a Bible… you had to agree with their doctrines or die.

You said Ephesians 2:9 but you used Ephesians 2:19.

How to Spot a Counterfeit Bible Part II
    26. They attack the virgin birth!
In Luke 2:33, The King James reads, "And JOSEPH and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him. " The NIV, NAS, NRSV, etc. reads, "The CHILD'S FATHER and mother marveled at what was said about him. " The "CHILD'S FATHER"? Do you believe that Joseph was Jesus's father? Not if you believe the virgin birth! Not if you believe John 3:16, that Jesus Christ was the Son of God! A subtle, attack at the virgin birth.
    27. They remove the Blood!
Consider Colossians 1:14: the KJV reads, "In whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS BLOOD, even the forgiveness of sins:" The NIV reads, "In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." The NIV, NAS, RSV, NRSV and co. rip the precious words "THROUGH HIS BLOOD" out! Friend, salvation is only "THROUGH HIS BLOOD". That old song says, "What can wash away my sins,
NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS!"
    28. They attack John 3:16!
And something has to be done with John 3:16! So the NIV and company reads, "For God so loved the world that he gave his ONE AND ONLY SON, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" - removing the critical word "BEGOTTEN"! If Jesus was "the one and only" then what happens to the wonderful promise to believers like 1 John 3:2, "Beloved, now are we the sons of God..
    "? AN OBVIOUS CONTRADICTION APPEARS!
    29. Philippians 2:6
The counterfeits change "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God." to "Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped." Any thinking person after reading this verse in the counterfeits would conclude that Jesus is NOT God.
    30. James 5:16 The translators in 1611 had seen the corruption of the confessing of sins to sinful catholic priests in the Roman Catholic system. That is why God led them to say “faults” and NOT “sins” in James 5:16

The King James Bible is God’s perfect, preserved, inspired Word in the English language.
