I smiled SO BIG when you ended up picking the life application study Bible!!! I use a version of that Bible and it’s amazing!!!!
I have the Fire Bible, ESV translation and it is by far the best bible I’ve ever owned. The notes give you history, culture and a verse by verse breakdown. Also, it does NOT shy away from speaking on the how the Holy Spirit is still relevant for us today, unlike other bibles. I would recommend looking into that one as well for whoever is still shopping around.

Amazon has the Life Application study bible Niv in Pink and Gray. It's for women. It comes in large print.for $43.71 I got it and love it.

I bought this Bible for my husband in 2005. It is by far his most used Bible! He loves it so much and it is the one we use for our Bible study with our children. You made a great choice!
I've had the Life Application Study Bible since 2010 & it's good to see that updated it with some color on the pages! It's been a wonderful Bible with all of the application at the bottom of each page and there's just SO MUCH good information in it.
Also, I love what you said about the aesthetic of the Bible not mattering as much as actually getting into God's word and building that relationship with him! Recently I've been fixated to the point of distraction on getting a Bible with larger margins that I can write notes in, and to be one of those girlies that hi-lights & takes notes in their Bible. It's been tough to remind myself that the aesthetic ultimately doesn't matter as much as just studying the Word

Yup, they are big.....but I like the print font ( older eyes) .
You can always get the bible rebound in a more esthetically pleasing way, but you are absolutely right, it's what's inside the bible that's more important than how it looks on the outside. ❤

My bible is boring black too, with gold gilding. I sewed a cover for it to make it prettier. Bonus: the cloth part that the front and back covers slide into become pockets! Lol

Love your review! I was gifted the Life Application Bible in NIV in 1998 by the kids and teens in a ministry I was working with in a church. I still use it everyday! I keep coming back to it.
I watched every minute of this video. I found you to be a lot like me and very adorable. I loved hearing the dogs play in the background. My Brain is scrambled . lol me too! Great video explaining each Bible and I appreciate you showing us the pages. I hope you had a safe drive all the way to church and I would definitely watch more of your videos.
I love your honest reviews of these different Bibles. I find that most of the Bible’s that are geared towards women are kind of fluffy honestly. There’s no study materials. I’m gonna say it - it’s just a glorified devotion in my opinion. I have quite a few Bibles but for really good study notes I find my older NiV life application study Bible, John MacArthur study Bible , Thomas Nelson study Bible. I like the intro notes to the books. And as formerly covers, I’d pay someone to rebind it with leather.
I was looking too for a Bible that helped with study commentary. I chose NKJV Life Application Large Print in Teal with gold edges. Our church uses KJV so I wanted to stay close to that translation. It’s heavy though so I use it at home. I a very satisfied. God bless.
Great video! I stick to the NLT just because English is not my first language. The NLT makes more sense to me I want to understand what I’am reading 😊
I absolutely love your honesty about these Bibles. It’s refreshing.
2 things:
1) The Life Application Bible text block will separate from the covers with the type of use you're expecting. You could have it rebound at that time, or sooner.
2) Life Application is a decent Bible, but a little on the beginner side. You could always tip in pages to write in more background info and artwork/emphasis. I have had excellent results from glue stick the edge of a prepared page and sink it deeply into the gutter. I recommend the Elmer's purple glue stick. It allows one to see how much glue is on the very edge. I run the edge straight on into the stick. Tip into the gutter. Close the Bible spine briefly pressing it. Then it's set to use. I pre-cut the page to all dimensions desired.

The struggle is real to find the best Bible that fits your needs and wants to study His Word! I feel you and landed on the CSB Study Bible for myself after a long search. Bless you in your studies. Hugs💕

Great review! I love your dogs! Sew or quilt a pretty cover for your Life Application Bible. Or get someone else to make you a cover. I have an NKJV Life Application Bible and love it. I have several Study Bibles. I like the Every Woman's Bible. It has a pretty light blue cover with gold pages, many notes, articles, and devotions. The only thing is that it is an NLT, which is an OK translation but not my favorite. Have you seen the NLT Illustrated Bible? It has colorful pages and lots of information, but again, NLT. I have a copy, but I wish it came in other translations.

I love my LASB! I bought an older version NLT hardcover (ugly green) that I painted turquoise. It's pretty now lol! And I later bought a new edition of NIV LASB in softcover, pink and gray. It's pretty!
I was actually surprised that you didn't choose the Crossway with journaling space. But to that I have a suggestion. I found Matthew Everard on TH-cam who suggested using a separate journal with numbered notes keyed to the exact scripture of reference (the number written in the column of your Bible matches the number written on top of the note in your journal). This leaves me plenty of room for my thoughts, sermon notes, etc. One bad thing about note-taking only inside the Bible is how squeezed, short and concise your thoughts must be kept. I love having the freedom to express in detail my notes, ideas, sermon notes, etc without the limitations of keeping it within my Bible.

I have the NLT lasb hardback while I love the Bible it’s huge heavy and uncomfortable to read and study from.
@Karelife I hear you! LASB is heavy, but I put it on a lap desk and prop it on the table or the arm of my chair. It's a great reference in itself, and I don't have to pull out other heavy books as often as without it.
I recently bought a Tyndale Filament Bible and I'm really enjoying having a lighter-weight reading Bible that also has study helps on the phone app when I want to dig in.
I.just bought the NLT compact giant print Bible. Much easier to use since I’m in a wheelchair
I got the ESV study Bible (not with journaling sections) and I can say it is such a quality study Bible!!! I also love the NIV because that’s what my church uses, but esv is very similar. I just use a notebook to take notes in, and although I have thought of getting the journaling version, I can’t spend that money when I especially have the same Bible.
I’m not nocking her choice, I’m saying if you like the ESV she showed, it is worth it.
GIRL, I hope you see this. I got an ugly bible too, but it was the one that was right for me. I made a fabric cover and it’s super cute now. Find a fabric you like and look in the TH-cam search bar: how to make a fabric book cover. You don’t even need to sew it, just use fabric glue tape. I hope this helps 😘
I love watching people review their Bibles!❤😊 I remember my biggest concern when buying my first Bible being whether it had the full text inside, because I had watched the disappointed faces of some Bible reviewers on YT who found out their Bible was either incomplete or had some pages torn. I am not going to lie, but I had to proofread it just to make sure what I was getting.
For context, and although I have been in a relationship with Jesus for good 8 years now, I bought my very first Bible back in February and it was this Thomas Nelson, barebones text paperback which cost me next to nothing. I am not going into the reasons as to why I hadn't bought a Bible by then, since that is a long story, but let's say I was not able to. My point is, I was not taking any risks because, you know... when it comes to YOUR FIRST AND ONLY BIBLE, you need ONE COPY of the entire text, Genesis to Revelation. So, please, proofread it, because there are no guarantees you will get the whole text first try! Mistakes do occur.
Luckily, and after close inspection, everything was in there (I had read the Bible online, so I knew full well what it should contain). In May this year I bought a hardback Bible from the same developer... I meaaaaan... publisher!... and that is the one I use for daily reading at home (no markings, because, and this is just me, it feels as though I am defacing the Bible). The paperback, on the other hand, is all marked up. It is the one I use for travel and, you know, "rough use".
Now, at first I thought I would be set up for life with my paperback. But, after 5 months of wear and tear, it became apparent that it would probably not last me a lifetime, so I began to worry...
Why worry, you might ask? Guys, this is in Amos 8, where it says there will be a famine for the Word of God! I don't really want to figure out what that means, so this is why I am begging you to get yourselves ONE PHYSICAL BIBLE if you haven't already. What if Bible apps and Bible Gateway get banned for good? Some food for thought.
Also, you don't need to splash out on a super exclusive, whatever-animal-skin cover, study Bible: my hardback, which I thank God daily for, cost me the equivalent of two watered-down Starbucks coffees. So long as it contains the TEXT and it is durable, you are pretty much SET FOR LIFE!❤😊
There is even a cheaper option. Step 1: pull up Google and search for "Bible text PDF". I know the KJV is 100% royalty free, as well as some others. Please, feel free to do some research. Step 2: PRINT IT OUT/HAVE IT PRINTED OUT. Step 3: BIND IT/ HAVE IT BOUND! Et voilà, you are set for life, as well!😊❤

Great choice. I have it in the NLT and the NKJV Large Print. Several years ago I had a KJV, and it was, I think, the 1st edition. It was ruined during a move, and it took me a long time to replace it. You will definitely enjoy using this. God bless you on your journey.

LOVED YOUR VIDEO, Courtney! I have watched a lot of Bible related videos, but your's was so honest, informative & relaxed. I recently bought 2 Bibles, one a NKJV & the other a Candace Cameron Bure 'One Step Closer' NLT. The NKJV is Dr. David Jeremiah's Study Bible. LOVE them both, even if they are not as "pretty" as I may have liked. The One Step...is better at that. Soft leather- like cover, fine, thin paper. Love the sound of Bible pages being turned. Is that weird? I'm going to be watching for more videos from you, young lady. (I'm 67 yrs old, but I think & conduct myself in a 30 yr. old manner. 🥴😵💫🥴 )
I also want to mention how amusing I found your 2 "clowns" in the background. They were hil-arious!!! I was giggling & laughing all the way through, but I really was listening as well to your reviews. I love dogs, absolutely! I have a West Highland Terrier who just turned 17!!!
There’s something I like about each one of those Bibles and I actually have most of them but The Life Application Bible is a great choice! It is great for a deep dive. I have the pink/gray one 😊
I have two LAB one is NIV and one in NKJV. They are my absolute favorite bible for all the reasons you listed.
The Life Application Study Bible is my favorite study resource ❤️ such great Useful, commentary . I got the two tone brown . But I also own the Jesus Bible and She Reads Truth. I have a whole collection ❤❤❤

23:48 - the info given in this Bible sounds like it is great. - that is something very important to me as well. - like you I am not good at history or geography.
It doesn’t like like there is anywhere to make notes in those margins, though.
They have NLT in teal, cranberry, purple, pink and gray, brown, and black. Hope you find one you enjoy. LASB NLT is my favorite.
I love this video! Thanks for sharing all the info on the Bibles I keep hearing about but wasn't sure it was the right one. I did end up getting the ESV Study Bible which has the same type of information all through like the Life Application you have! I had been using my Mom's old Life Application Bible and loved it but it's kinda falling apart since it's about 15 years old and well used! I completely agree about the Bible not needing to be pretty to be the most beautiful Bible!

I have a black Study Bible. I bought it for the same reason you did, but every time I picked it up and looked at the cover I was disappointed and really didn't want to use it. Finally I personalized it with stickers that you rub on and they don't come off. Now I love the cover and it feels exactly like me. I enjoy reading it and using it since I personalized it to my personality.

I absolutely love my Life Application. It's definitely the best Bible I have ever used.
I like the ESV journaling study Bible. It leads more towards reform theology. My only gripe is the font is way too small to read. Ii would need reading glasses.
I have the pink and grey one, and I bought it for the same reason you did- to understand the ancient near- east context. I glue in pages for my notes. I cut about 1/2 inch off the bottom, fold it not quite in half, then glue the top in the seam so its landscape with a fold out. You definitely need to keep it in another cover because doing this makes the binding unstable in my experience, which I have yet to do.😅 It is very beginner-ish, but I still find it very useful because I have plenty of beginner holes in my knowledge base. I have other resources I use like The Bible Project to help with understanding how the literature was put together, the connections that are all over the bible, and the themes that keep repeating all which I find really fascinating.
Can you please show notes in this Bible? I have 2 different versions of the life application and I love them but there is no room for notes and I am BIG on notes and journaling ❤

I went through a similar struggle. I REALLY wanted the ESV journaling study Bible but ended up not getting it because many reviews said that the paper was extremely thin. The journaling space is no good to me if the paper is terrible. I think the Bible you chose is a great one. Since there is no journaling space you can use sticky notes. That's what I do in my Bible!
hi, just found your page, if you looking for a good Bible, but there is no space to take notes, go have a look at the NIV Study Bible Fully Revised Edition. even this has one girly colours but its the best study Bible. she is a thick Bible with alot of information in there. much more than moral Bibles

Let me suggest the NLT Parallel Study Bible by Tyndale. It is a Life Application study Bible and NLT Study Bible in one. It’s my favorite go to.
There’s no “one and done” study bible. If you’re a Bible explorer, you must have at least 2 or 3 bibles in different translations, and themes. I have about 20 bibles, including prayer bibles, devotional, woman’s, life application, discipleship, children’s ministry, counseling, etc, because I also work actively in church departments. Also, I’m benefited from having a Bible for every specific topic I’m studying bc it offers a depth of the topic. By the way, most of my bibles I get from eBay at amazing prices, including some brand new items, and copies that were out of print.
And thank you for sharing your opinion. I just removed the “She reads truth” from my wishlist! I guess it was overrated. ❤🙏🏼

I have the NLT life application study bible and it’s definitely the best study bible written by many authors. Which is so important. It also gives you the cultural background so you better understand what’s happening. Good choice!

I purchased same bible on Amazon, but in the pink and gray color. I have a KJV Bible from 2010 but it’s just a standard Bible, not as detailed as the Life Application Study Bible. I like how you put the tabs on top versus on the side. I may try that with my new Bible. Thank you for this video!

I have the life application bible, but I end up getting it rebound. I also have the esv study bible, which has even more notes.
I needed this! Thank you for sharing… I have my current journal Bible I’m halfway through it. When I’m finished I don’t know if I’ll be able to add notes. So I purchased a beautiful Bible from a company & haven’t done much with it. I don’t feel called to it. It sits in the bottom of a cabinet (maybe bc I’m still working through my current one?) I recently purchased a KJV( I felt called to read KJV) illustrated study Bible and I LOVE that book ! I agree with you! I want ONE book!! Maybe a notebook to carry around.
I had the Life application bible but I gave it away I just couldn't get into it. My absolute favorite study Bible is the NLT Illustrated study Bible.

You should try the NLT version. Have you ever watched Tim Wildsmith’s Bible reviews. ? He wants to help everyone find their favorite Bible. I have all kinds of beautiful ones. I love color and the feel of soft leather. I have spent much $$ on them All worth it. If you find a Bible you love but want more piza get one rebound where you pick the leather and color. Even speckled edges. Keep looking..
I always prefer a literal translation, close as possible. NKJV, NASB or ESV

I’m a creative person and I’d honestly probably get some Dixie Belle paint and paint on the cover. I wouldn’t be able to help myself 😂😂😂 Bit it’s really about the word first and spending one on knew time with Jesus. All you need is a Bible, pen and notebook and that’s it 😊😊😊
