10 TIPS To Create Landscapes In Your Art Journal 📗🖼️🎨🖌️

Thank you for watching, this video is all about painting landscapes! I've been working on quite a lot landscapes in this art journal called 'Home', since this book was intended to paint landscapes in. But later I changed my mind and the theme of the book became simply home. I'm sharing with you 10 tips how to create different spreads with landscapes. Just pick up a thing you like and work this out in your art journal!

Tip 1
Make a collection of smaller landscape on one spread
It's great to create some smaller landscape on two pages, matching landscapes in similar colours. You could add some decorative items to the page that are equal in colours.
Tip 2
Use the whole spread for one landscape
Simply creating one landscape you like, maybe copy something you came across during your daily walk, could be a great idea to fill your spreads with. I've painted my favourite water lily pond here, with a sunset. It's just acrylic paint, no mixed media.
Tip 3
Fill one page with a landscape; add matching elements on the other page
On one page I've created a seascape in blue and orange, with a white frame around it. On the other page there's a burlap substrate, on which I added things that matched with the landscape. There are two abstract mini landscapes too.
Tip 4
Use old paintings of landscapes and make a collage
Grab some old paintings or drawings that go well together and make a landscape collage.
Tip 5
Create a mixed media landscape with nets and fabrics…
I am a big fan of using fabrics and nets in my art work. And that's of course also possible with making landscapes. These things are really a part of the landscape.
Tip 6
Create a landscape on one page and create mini landscapes based on the larger landscape on the other page
The mini landscapes can be close-ups from the larger image. They can also show the landscape in different situation; for example in Winter versus in Summer, by daylight versus at night.
Tip 7
Use the palette knife, especially fun on burlap pages!
One of my best friends is the palette knife. You can bring in so much texture as you want. It's extremely handy when you want to paint on a burlap page and want to overlap a part of the burlap fully, which makes it easier to paint on. Just fill in the 'holes' with paint and make the surface flat so you can work on it. I love its when the burlap comes still through a bit. And don't forget it also continues on the page before/after the burlap... If you don't want leaking paint through the burlap, put something between the pages, like baking paper.
Tip 8
One of my favourites! Use mirrored pages
I was so addicted on this that I've done it three times!
1. Add paint on just one page.
2. Close the book.
3. Open the book again and see what's on the other page.
4. Finish both pages in a different way.
Tip 9
Pattern your landscape!
Create different layers and areas in your landscape and give them matching patterns. Strips could be grass, circles can be pebbles on a path, etc.
Tip 10
Create landscapes with trees
This could be trees in different seasons.

Wat leuk om te horen! Ik denk al een tijdje na over een boek met mijn favoriete art journal pagina's. Het moet nog even een vorm vinden. Ook omdat ik heel gelaagd werk, is de vraag of het dan goed overkomt. Maar heel leuk dat je het zou willen kopen als het er was!

Wat een bron van inspiratie zijn jouw tips. Het spiegelen van pagina's door ze op elkaar te plakken /wrijven vind ik een geweldig goed idee. Het effect van de "netjes" bij tip 5 ziet er heel tof uit. De bomen met paletmes maken geeft zo' n gelaagdheid, prachtig! Dankjewel voor de tips.
