Hey Kevin, thank you so much for the kind review of our channel. It was an especially big honor knowing that you generally don't watch TH-cam. I've been a big fan of your work at NERD for as long as I've known about you (which would be well over a decade). I've long admired your work with your monitors and caimans most especially, though you do a lot of other rad things as well. This video is awesome and oh so important. Thanks again. I look forward to meeting you at Tinley this year.

Haaaaa Haaaa you are quite welcome! Donny told me to check you out and I was yeah, I like this guy and you have some great content. You clearly work hard to be mindful of your audience, I bet they really appreciate your insight! I've seen some stuff that I was not very keen on and find it difficult to take some people serious when they may only have an idea of an animal or clearly have a lot to learn! keep up the great work!

Hey Kevin, I had bought a water monitor from you guys probably 5-6 months ago and just wanted to say he’s doing great! Healthy and everything. Obviously a little standoffish at first but have built a strong bond with him since and it’s such a joy to see how trusting he is with the family and frankly with humans in general. Set him down anywhere and he’ll explore then he’ll crawl right back up on you.

As always very educational & helpful👍🏽
Your savannah monitor videos have been VERY helpful for me with mine. I got him as a hatchling from petco & he was quite slippery as a baby & escaped out my hands & under my back deck so I stopped handling him 😔 so he got used to just seeing me at feeding time or bathing time. Now a little over a year later I'm putting the effort in to tame him. Your monitor videos have further educated me & motivated me even more to get Maximus as tame as all your animals. I moved his enclosure to a room where he'll see me alot & I sit next to it often so he gets used to my hands, face & presence. He's already stopped trying to bite & stopped going in his burrow everytime i come in the room. Thank you for the time & effort to help monitor newbies like myself become better owners/keepers of these wonderful animals. Glad there's a place like yours here in NH. I Look forward to my next visit to NERD if the corona virus ever calms down.

Kev, I want you to know that because of your “Taming” or “socializing” or even better your “building rope” videos I feel as if we have taken our own keeping of iguanas to a new level. Yes. I know. Iguanas. Not Monitors. But all the Techniques used work so magnificently with them as well. Better yet all of ours are rescues so you can imagine the work I have had to put in. That in its self is proof the Techniques work. Thank you for all you guys do for the community!

Your expertise with monitors (and a bunch of other animals) is literally unmatched and I cant wait for the day that i purchase my first reptile from you. getting a pet like a big monitor lizard (that is smart and dangerous) can go very wrong if u don't have the knowledge and patience to handle them. i am relieved to finally see someone in the reptile community who actually understands how socialization works and also explains it in simple terms.

Iv never been bitten and he only give me a tail whip a handful of time when Iv made the mistake of coming up behide him to fast but after he realizes it’s me he’s all curiosity! Absolutely awesome what you are doing with monitor lizards bro, clearly demonstrates how intelligent monitors are they are definitely in a league of there own, with qualities like no other reptile almost bird like in some ways! I live in Australia the land of monitor lizards and love observing them in the wild when given the opportunity. Love to see how your work evolves in the future. Would you do this with Komodo dragons if you had the opportunity, I believe you could work your magic and produce a spectacular beast if you did even though of course there would be greater element of danger with handling Komodo's !

I'm a bit late to the party but I've been catching up on these taming/socializing and behavior videos. I checked out your website and your prices are fair considering the amount of time, work, love and passion you have for your animals in making them amazing pets and buddies for their keepers. You aren't in it to be rich you are in it cause you love your reptiles and honestly it helps you stay afloat and keep doing what you love. I want my first reptile to be from NERD I love everything you do. I watched the herping videos and vlogs and I love your enthusiasm towards all living things reptile or not. I myself used to go on vacations to south Florida and I was always catching lizards, snakes, frogs, and turtles. I would look at them then let them go. Other times I would just sit and watch them do their thing in the wild while trying not to disturb them so I could try to learn how they behave. Love you and your awesome staff Kevin.

Around the 10minute mark, I always found it interesting that the green anole I got from the wild and cared for for years was always rather chill, where as if I got one from Petco, it was the polar opposite, completely unsocialized, and I figured it was because the wild one realized, Hey I'm safe and I'm getting free food, this human will not harm me. It's kinda cool and I can't wait till I can have a reptile again. Haven't had the money or space for a while

Kevin, I am making strides with my Nile monitor thanks to the informational videos you have posted. Unfortunately I did the common thing, I bought something that looked pretty and caught my eye. Than after getting him home I started research, Hopefully jar jar will survive...Since getting him I have a few different colonies of bugs, as well as chicken hearts and boiled eggs so far.
I love watching your videos and how "tame" the monitors are. I cant believe how some people yack yack yack about the whole helping your herp shed. To me it was natural, I don let my kids run around with snotty noses, I get the eye buggers out of my dogs eyes. Now if I see some skin that is loose I just pull it off and keep track of whats going on so no issues develop. I am very much a novice even through I have loved reptiles for more than 50 years, I just never before had a life conducive to get keep and devote to them. I will continue to watch a learn. Thank you

You teach from a different perspective than most people and truly with the animals best interest in mind. You help and show us how they view things and how we can help understand them better and help them look at us in a positive way other than "they bring me food". Can you please do a video on Tokays? I heard that yoy work magic with them lol just as you do with all animals. I have searched through many many of your older videos and couldn't find one on " taming" or socializing them. Kevin Thanks for these videos they are Extremely important to help all of us monitor keepers to be ambassadors for the Varanus species. I used to keep Macrei , had to donate to local zoo after they started to copulate as I was not learned enough to hatch the babies. Now I have an orange phase female Oranatus 2018 hatchling I am currently thread building with .

the place i work at gets overrun with snakes every morning when its humid, your techniques have deemed me the 'snake coworker' in a different light from how i can just pick them up and get them out of the walkways lol

I have been around lots of animals my whole life, thats 60 plus years of building trust and relationships with animals. I would never just take on a reptile without putting in lots of background learning beforehand. I havent ever had a reptile (unless you count birds, especially crows who I always have some kind of relationship with from daily visitors to rescued birds who end up living with me because they cant fly properly in one case). I think I'm going to watch all your socialisation videos because I would love a lizard of some description. What bugs me about people having reptiles is that they look at them as if theyre some lesser order of animal which has to be wrong because its the intelligence in their eyes that is pulling me towards getting one. You are doing a wonderful job of being a reptile ambassador.

Amazing animals!!! I'm so impressed by your understanding of their psychology and behavior. I'm curious about how that tractability transfers to other people. My thought is that handlers need to be highly aware , sensitive and responsive to the animal. Thanks for another wonderful video.

A video I'd love to see would probably have to be multi part. A collection video. Obviously it wouldn't be covering each and every animal but a few samples from each species would be awesome.

I remember a video where you said you could reach out to your friends like Brian And ask for help with subscribers but that not what YOU want but I think reptile owners especially the new ones that come into the world daily because of guys like Brian need to know Kevin and the teachings you bring. I totally understand not wanting to ask for help with subscribers but think of the animals-and people you could reach and help
