ABOUT ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST
The leading international design authority, Architectural Digest features articles and videos of the best in architecture, style, culture, travel, and shopping.
Parisian here : this is not what we'd call a "flea market", which are more like garage sales. These are (obviously) professional antique/vintage designers boutiques whose clientele are wealthy people/luxury hotels, etc... In short : you don't go there to try and find something cheap and cute for you appartment. You go there, freak out when you see the price tags, and leave pretty soon after to go to a nicer part of town because the area is shady.
insupportable, si c'est un endroit pour vous balader tant mieux, pas la peine de dénigrer
@@Maloup44 Je ne critique pas : je constate :)
I was getting ready to book a flight to Paris just to go there and your comment 😅.. guess I won’t 😂
@@mizzlopez5660 Well, the « puces de Saint Ouen » (the name of the place they’re at) are still worth visiting if you love design, it’s like going to the biggest open-air museum, you could easily spend a day there without even seeing it all, like a little adventure. But again : bargains are really hard to come by (especially when you’re a tourist) and the vicinity isn’t the best.
@@mizzlopez5660 you're welcome to come ❤️ some French people just love arguing for nothing like everywhere else haha
the fact that you did not bargain any of the prices BLOWS my mind. You got abstolutely ripped off. They set the prices extremely high so people bargain, it's entirely part of the experience.
Yeah those prices were wild
I agree. I hate that he didn't even try his best to negotiate..
its not his money so he doesnt care, its his clients money hes spending
@@pinkie24 ,
Yeah, I like the "Get your CC out!" phrase! 😱😛
He’s clearly not a “pro designer”, if he’s not even attempting to negotiate with the dealers.
The chandelier is gorgeous, but it’s too small for the room and It gets lost in the space. Proportions are everything! Great example of how a big budget doesn’t necessarily guarantee you successful results.
Totally agree with you. That chandelier is way too small for that space. When he was explaining it I was thinking it was going in a small room.
I agree! Just said the same thing! 😅
I would have put a longer chain and dropped it down, Like I could afford it, LOL
I'd love to see a series where ross goes to other markets with different clients each time!!!
Yes please!
I was about tio suggest that ! Loved the video
YESSSS
Please turn this into a series! Thoroughly enjoyed watching this :)
Him: she is the most vicious haggler
Her: pay me less money or no deal
@@tokyodrifttt she simply gave her best price to close the deal
He held up six fingers, so she probably thought he was offering €600.
@@paradox5391 €1400 or €600, it's nice to see these prices while I'm sitting here next to a €20 lamp😅
@@paradox5391 That's exactly what happened. In France we would probably used one hand first ( for the one ) then the second hand in another move to mark the "five". Maybe the alternative way would be using only one hand. A very common method too ;)
She said 1600 then he offered 1500 and then she said 1400, lol.
"Pro Designer" goes shopping at the most expensive Flea Market on earth and pays WAY to much, because its not his money. I fell sorry for his clients
Exactly my thought . Also If you claim you have an eye for this kind of stuff you should be able to spot special pieces in a pile of garbage . Not in a vintage market with designer pieces, hand picked and refurbished.
He is getting a kickback.
Plus shipping 😬
She’s fine, she has a Kelly bag lol. Some of these people are Sotheby’s art collector level. Reminder, you’re watching AD not some DIY channel. No need to feel sorry for the clients.
It wasn’t even a lot
i love his faux mid-Atlantic accent. and that she agreed with him on everything.
OMG, I LOVE THATT!!!
Yeah…what WAS that? 😂
to me it came across as Jo'burg anglo that has lived in America for a long time
@@pwp8737ohhhh - smart! Let’s hope you’re spot on!
Is that mid-atlantic? If so, it would be more pronounced non?
That chandelier is absolutely stunning. I loved watching this, I’d love to see a tour of her place
2 rich Americans at an expensive Parisian market who don't speak French and spend too much money but are very pleased with themselves. Eye roll.
😂😂
Why exactly are you on the AD channel if this makes you eye roll?
Comments like these that no one asked for. Eye roll.
no one is obligated to speak FRENCH
@@InterTechneIn this situation, no, but it does help if you learn at least basic phrases and in this case, numbers, since you’d be dealing with them a lot in this specific situation. I have seen people who want to move to a foreign country permanently but refuse to learn the language and they want a job working in the country. Um, no bueno. If you want to live in France permanently and get a visa and a job, you have to know fluent French! French people are not going to speak fluent English!!!!! 😂😂😂
As a professional commercial interior designer, I’d say as great as this place is you’re never going to find a bargain there, you’re always going to pay top whack, especially when you don’t really try to bargain.
People who shop at these kinds of stores are looking for a bargain.
It’s really not just what you choose, but how you style it. Loved the placement of those ceramic tiles.
The chandelier and watching the whole experience was magic !
More more ❤
The chandelier is just beautiful ❤
Magic was that no one broke a piece and it took a crew of 5-6 people to installed.
Thank you, AD! Beautifully filmed & edited-with so many wonderful takeaways. Ross is generously eloquent in mannerisms & intentionality. And such an exquisite space to design for, for a fantastic warm-hearted client.🇫🇷🛋️🪞💶
"¿Hay algo que le gustaría explorar o hacer de manera diferente en proyectos futuros, basándose en la experiencia de este proyecto?"
Chandelier doesn't look large enough to me ❤
It was hung to hi in the room.
I thought the same. Nice piece though.
@@bngr_bngr”too high”
@@davidbush131 I hate auto correct. But since I can’t see very well, I can’t really complain.
I agree or it is hung too high. Something was definitely off.
That glass bubble vase for $300--I see those at the thrift stores all the time for like $5; I clearly have no idea what to look for, but I'd love to have his knowledge!
He admitted buying a fake Biot, for the "cheap" price of $300. You found one for $5.
Chip and Joanna have really gone upscale!
My gosh Im so inlove with this content. I cant get over!! What a joy to look around and finding rare art pieces!!!
I love this series! TBH I think the chandelier is too small for the space and hung to high. But that’s to my (European) liking and taste…
Nope you are correct, I'm sure the client has a new one in that space now.
You're totally correct-- it's a beautiful piece but it's so overwhelmed by the space.
I think the chandelier should have been larger. It's beautiful but looks small on her ceiling.
and it was placed too high.
I thoroughly enjoyed you and your client's browsing the French market. Thank you for sharing your journey.
This definitely needs to be a series.
Brings back some of my favorite memories of shopping with you at the flea market in Paris! Love the items you all found!!
More videos like this !! Client and Designer shopping flea marker or antic store across the world = 5 stars
I’m so impressed with his depth of knowledge.
He was probably shopping there and then Googled it by image search,, made the deal with the dealer and brought the client. 😅😅😅😅
He is too
Uh?
@@anafrill3489 ?
It was a pleasure working with you Ross
I could watch this ten times over. Please make more videos like this!
PLEASE do more videos like this one. I loved it. ❤
People making noise in the comment can’t seem to realise this is uploaded by Architectural Digest. Obviously it would be upmarket.
AD is obviously up market. That was expected. Rudeness wasn't. He goes there all the time. He made that clear. He can't even speak French enough to make his purchase offers in French?
What a fun and educational trip Ross is such a cutie too! More Ross!!!
More of this series please.
We definitely need more Ross -- he's a delight.
i agree and ADORABLE he used to date another designer jeff i think they broke up but ross looks great!
Nah he’s insufferable
@@Qtopianthat’s what I was going to type!! He’s beyond insufferable.
@@Carolll9 WOW thats what he said about you
@@Qtopian so kickasssssss
This has been so fascinating. It’s like an art gallery tour by Ross Cassidy.
I want more. Can we have this as a series?
I loved this video! Please make a series out of this ❤
I will never be able to understand why there are so many people having problem with paying for food and an appartment and then there are others saying that paying 350 bugs for a fake vase is cheap and 8.500k is affordable.
Don't worry. Be Elon Musk.❤.
welcome to capitalism.
@@vsznry Don't worry. Be very rich on USD.
@@plumicorn Only GOOGLE explain it.
Not sure why you need to understand… for other people’s choices to have value?
Wonderful - some great finds. We need to see more of you on TH-cam, Ross.
He gave her horrible advices.
I could watch this continuously! Love
LOVE Ross Cassidy! More of him please!
this is such a fun watch! I want to shop the paris flea market with him!
This was so incredibly charming, would LOVE to see more content like this!
Wish the show ''Million dollar designers '' are back , loved the interior designers ;)
Yes! I loved that show
Oh darn it, that was my favorite show of all times! I so miss those Calif. designers making their magic! And they were so unique and glamorous in their own style worlds!
Loved this really awesome to watch, interesting, casual and fun. Should be a series. 😊
We need more of this kinda videos, pls!!♥️
I love this series! More of this plsss
WOW! He really knows his art and names of different pieces. Impressive!
That chandelier is INCREDIBLE
I mean… at the end of the day it is stuff, whether you pay a fortune or got it for free, it only has value to people who all end as dust. Memories & experiences are invaluable.
MORE, MORE, MORE Ross Cassidy!!!!! Please feature more of him, AD.
This looks like a very fun place to browse and get inspired!
It's hilarious to see rich people twitting around, acting like they've invented flea marketing when it's not even a real flea market😂
This was put together really well. The additional pics and price stamps made me feel like I was really there and also deliberating about the items. Probably lots of effort to film this way, but it’s appreciated
Here for more content like this!! So fun to tag along on a fabulous shopping trip
I loved every single second of this video. More like these, please!
This would've been a dream job for me. Go shopping for a client's house. Love his job.
Curious how they never mentioned the price of the chandelier. I'm guessing it was the most expensive thing they saw that day 😅
Also, it feels way too small and elevated. Pretty, but lost up there 🙁
En effet c'est overpriced pour une réplique de Biot, on peut trouver du authentique sur Selency ou Vinted pour bien moins cher 😅
Les puces de St-Ouen ne vendent plus si bien que ça donc espérons que cette vidéo les relancent un peu!
i love Selency
I went to this market about 12 years ago, it was amazing, I have never seen it's equal. Would love to go back with a BIG budget 😊
Really engaging sleuthing, a great match of Client and Designer, educational!
That was a great shopping trip!❤
That chandelier was just absolutely jaw dropping!!!!! Loved loved loved this series as someone who dreams of being an interior designer in another life 😂
i love this! i got to learn about Acolay, about Biot, etc.
This requires a lot of experience, expertise and great chance. 💯
Money too...
i think some sort of long light orange or pastle orange scarfs warped around the top side of the room would really go well with the chandelier
This was amazing. My jaw is on the floor.
Love the Chandelier! But it seems it should be hanging a bit lower, don't you think?
Yes! It's hung too high!
More content like this please! And show us some designer/architect homes!
I shared my tour of this same market in the spring!! it is truly an interior designer's playground!! However, the items I was looking at were much more affordable! LOL my largest purchase was a flower pot for only $50 euro.
Beautifully edited! Great job!
Other than these are items way beyond my means, these two people are just, oh, so elegant!
I could watch this all day!
They clearly have so much fun working together. Such a great collaboration!
I love this Flea market! Learned so much.. and Ross Cassidy is gorgeous....
@@LisaRussell-o9n Me too.
Fun video. Although I could see engaging a professional interior designer by reason of their access to markets retail customers do not have, the idea that someone would actually design my living space for me is not at all appealing.
It’s like a treasure hunt!
That ceiling lamp ❤
Oh... and that 'VERY expensive' brass floor lamp 💖
USD2.000.000,00 is its price without the lamp.
You have really the best video stories all completed
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Would make for a excellent day of shopping... Thank you for the dealer details you supplied ... Will save hours on a visit.
This needs to be a series
AD we need more of this
Would love to see a house tour!
Omg. This place is on my bucket list. Asap
Oma.
Love learning about these artists!!!
The chandelier is deeeevine, but it's lost all the way up there. For a 4 year search she could've had something made! The statement 'I don't want something new bc the space needs age'; but there's no sense of age to that piece. I suspect they wanted vintage so they could resell it later when something better comes along. A lot of red flags here that this is more about status than the object - enormously inflated prices, the attitude when they went to the 'more touristy' part, paying 300 for a FAKE biot while a real one is a third of the price online.... these guys either only see value with a name and a 3 figure price, or its PR for the market. As a vintage dealer myself I'd love to go there just to learn, but I'd end up quickly bored bc I couldn't buy anything - its all 3 times the market value and I buy to invest, not collect. If I want to collect, I buy handmade.
This place looks amazing ! Very cool stuff … I wanna go !
Very entertaining, more of these please!
Make this a series!
Love ALL the great finds!!
I loved watching every moment of this show. ❤️ 😂
Oh, how I would LOVE to go there!!!!!!!
You guys, got the rich experience.
That was fun!
I’ll be spending a day trip here next time in Paris. Thank you 🌟
More of this! Such a fantasy
That was a whole heap of fun!
The chandelier is beautiful and a great size for the size of the room, if the ceilings weren't that large. The super high ceilings also make the whole room feel smaller, as it's so vertical. Not really an interior design problem, but a common rich-north-american architecture problem.
Could maybe have been fixed interior by putting in some beams at the height below the high windows and above the terrace doors.
I need more of this!!!
Oh I just adore this. More, please!
here is truly a gem!
I’ve now seen this “market” featured by a few designers and celebrities in the past few days (algorithm). I’d call it a furniture emporium, to be more accurate! Paris is having fun at the expense of the foreigners 😂
So pretty yet so expensive. 😅 I think things like that are way cheaper in Bali for incredibly beautiful craftmanship.
Wow I loved this. I'm not rich or anything but the history of the pieces is so interesting ! Never know, you may find a piece in your local vide grenier...
